That line hits a lot harder when you remember that in the comics, joker originally fell into a vat of acid, and that's how he became who he is today? Why did he fall? Because Batman was the one who caused him to trip and fall off the rail and into the vat.

Joker was so right about people. They love you because they need you but when they don't they will cast you out. People are afraid to make the sacrifice. Humanity is struggling because of only humans. Their selfish nature is what has destroyed everything.
