I have learned many generic drug names in my life,and have kept up with Covid research,treatments....everything relevant. So relieved by your Bam comments😂!! Thought I was slipping,or they finally did come up with a name proven to be unpronouncable by 99.9% of the entire Human population. Just to mess with us... Some things are very different...a Public Health Emergency is one thing I have no experience with clinically or adm.but pulmonary ,internal med,nfectious disease background would apply. Really enjoyed listening,even when you got to the craziest complexity areas,it didn't confound me beyond the imaginable...It was expected. My Doc determined it to be cruel and unusual punishment,..after Omnibus 84 (Reagan) What seemed like overnight to many,the FED(HCFA,then,CMS now) made it necessary to actually use all these Books,usually buried in a cupboard,or storage somewhere in the bookkeepers office.Nobody taught billing, beyond basic Accounting ,which made coding new territory. They gave us advance notices,but Bookkeepers filed all that "unecessary bureaucracy " in the waste bin file.People lost their jobs,Drs received Fines,some accused of fraudulent practices.. It was a crazy time,and the beginning of the End for Pvt Practice. I was oddly prepared for this...I kept finding those books nobody used,and became obsessed with them ,to the point where the Bookkeeper..locked them up!! She didn't like the questions I asked,but some of the RN's were curious when I told them we did procedures that had much more accurate descriptions--with different numbers,and there were so many Diagnosis Codes !! Our "visit tickets/invoices" had approx 30 CPT's and 40 ICD's. The RN's found the key when the billing office went on vacation,and confiscated my "magic books" Take them home,but don't lose them!!" "And don't ask any questions about Death from explosions, or nuclear disasters, gun shots,poisoning...none of that stuff!!" I was 19 yrs old! They are still my friends,and we're retired,they think I should write a book about this! Maybe I will,inspired by your Covid Billing video. Probably,this is the strangest response you- never expected- to hear! Thanks for the memories😊 ICD 10 was coming...soon,for 10 yrs! imo..it's dealt with complexities that will allow more efficient diagnostic capabilites for MD's( and AI learning)

Thanks for the explanation, that is, PLA Codes are for a Particular Test by a Particular manufacture,: Proprietary Laboratory Analyses (PLA) Codes are an addition to the CPT® code set approved by the AMA CPT® Editorial Panel. They are alpha-numeric CPT codes with a corresponding descriptor for labs or manufacturers that want to more specifically identify their test.
