RC Glider Slope Soaring - Kilcunda Victoria Australia
Travelling with Anthony, Kevin, Tim (and myself, Steve) to the picturesque location of Kilcunda, Victoria, Australia. Located about one and three-quarter hours south-east of Melbourne, this private farming land has breathtaking views over Bass Strait to the south, and to the east, Phillip Island and Western Port Bay. The flying location provides for a high point with steep hillside ridge lift and a huge grassy landing zone away from most turbulence. Anthony flying his Baudis Salto 4m and a wing called a Reaper, Tim flying a Multiplex Alpina and Nan Orion, Steve flying a RCRCM DG600 (and lightly crashed 😊 an Excalibur 2 following a stalled roll - oh boy), and Kevin flying a foamy.

RC Slope Soaring Cairns Bay with Tim Mark & Steve - WARNING LOW RES - TEST CAMERA TRIAL
Просмотров 385Месяц назад
Slope soaring our favourite location for SW winds, Cairns Bay. Trying out an old 360 camera for an unattended camera person - it seemed to work! Well, have a look and see. BEWARE - Simple flying scenes, and apologies for the wind noise, as the camera has no plug in mic options. Also, the test camera is very low resolution and does not allow for much zoom, so the models often are very small in t...

F5J competition held at the Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS) field, 2nd March 2024. This event was a practice session for the Australian Team selection. The day was very grey with a persistent SW breeze. The conditions didn’t seem ideal at all, but the pilots produced some great flights catching thermals when I thought it seemed hopeless. I found it really interesting to see...

Slope Soaring F16 Kyosho RC Glider Portsea Back Beach
Просмотров 2512 года назад
First time Slope Soaring in many years, location: Portsea [Victoria] back beach. The hang glider launch site was filled by paragliders, so I headed to another beach for free space. Model: Kyosho F16 Fighting Falcon [late 1990's ARF version]. No ducted fan fitted, just RC gear on board.
This is a beautiful place to fly in my home area when I was a kid. It's great to see people flying there, would be great to fly with some others in time.
Thanks for all these stories of gliding,, I am 93 and its my only pleasure now of being able to fly my gliders especially my 12 footer, i a m free to wander the sky with no one on my back telling you cant do that ,well I am doing , and if I should crash later well thats fab, because at my age I will be crashing shortly , , and heaven is up there some where and one day I will find it Cheers Ray,
Looks like you guys had a great time...... were you guys the sea breeze?
Look at the size of that sky!
Thanks for filming this Steve, you got some great footage of my Salto and Tim's Alpina in flight. I think we should do it again😀.
Is this the same Anthony that was a member of Doncaster many years ago when I was a member?
Greetings from Texas !! Beautiful spot and beautiful flying ! You guys are SO lucky ! No place like that around here to fly. 😢 Just flat open fields.
Yes, were lucky to have this site only about an hours drive out of Melbourne. We also do a lot of flat field scale glider aerotowing as well at our local VARMS model flying club in Melbourne.
nice
have stopped on that road with my paraglider and wondered :)
Nice!
All I ever need for a happy day is a nice hill and a glider ... so much fun watching you have fun.
Beautiful. I need this.
im jealous, not many place like that in australia
We could see you from Ridge Road. It was a great days flying.
Excellent. You clever boy! It was indeed a great day. Remember though, my score for the hill was 6/10. It can be a lot better. I know.
Top Stuff 😀wish I was there!
What a beautiful hill to fly on!
What a great open site to fly......you guys have too much fun..!!!!!
Hi, how did you guys manage the flight, any goggles(like drone goggles) for these? Thanks.
Strictly non-FPV. With FPV, the law states that you need an observer and you are also limited to a measly 400'.
beautiful flight
Steve, Keep up the good work! Nice video!
Thanks Steven......great video work as usual
Thanks Peter!
Great flying site....wish I had the same .... thanks for sharing ( UK)
Can anyone fly here or is it by special permission?
Hi Don, this is public land but is shared with the genral public, hikers and paragliders, so it's good to fly insured.
@@stevenmohr4588 Thanks Steve.
That was fun. I know. Thanks Steve!
Nice video, nice location. Here in Germany we are expecting snow over Christmas - unfortunately no flying 😮💨. I wonder why you did not use flaps in order to slow her down for landing 🤔
Hello Friedrich, thank you for writing. Hope the snow season is short, and you are back in the air soon. About the use of flaps, I'm not such a confident flyer, but trying to use the flaps now on approach. I did try using flaps just recently and applied them at the wrong time and tip stalled nearly into a small pond. Ha! I will keep trying to improve. All the best to you!
@@stevenmohr4588 controlling the flaps in an on/Off mode could apply too much of a break. Therefore, I mix them with my throttle stick position (while throttle ist switched Off) - This allows a fine dosage of flap deflection. First tests of flap control should anyway be done at reasonable altitude, then you have a chance to react if something unexpected happens
Nice video, one day I’ll get there.
Cheers Tony, that would be great.
Great Video Steven
Appreciate it!
Beautiful!
It sure was a beautiful day for flying!
Nice video. Looks like a great place to fly
Thanks John, it is a nice location for certain. Just need to hike in a short walk. Bye!
Another great video....good job.
Thanks Peter!
What a great sloper.
