The Revival of a Genre - King Gizzard, Global Politics and Anatolian Rock
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
A story of how 21st century media technology revived an almost dead musical genre. References can be found in the submission document, or below. docs.google.com/document/d/1IkvTBJnqzdTGsbbZegjARneV8uVzmdvJJNSbDkwAI5M/edit?usp=sharing In this video, we explore the origins of Anatolian Rock - a unique blend of Western rock and traditional Asian/Ottoman music. Birthed in the 1920s during Turkey's ...

r/Place and Fan Culture - A BCM110 Assignment
Просмотров 1342 года назад
A video essay looking into r/Place and how it exemplifies new age fan culture. How I addressed Assignment 2 Feedback As I didn’t think this was appropriate to place in the video, I figured I’d place it here. Overall, I've looked to heighten my referencing throughout and apply the feedback provided (primarily ensuring I follow AUS Harvard Referencing as opposed to US Harvard). I’ve also looked t...
Where I'm From (And Where I'm Going)

A BCM 115 Assignment. Artist Statement ‘Where I’m From (And Where I’m Going)’ is an audiovisual poem inspired by George Ella Lyon’s poem of the same name. This project is an audiovisual narrative that looks to encapsulate the dramatic shift between childhood and adulthood, and the timeless comfort cemented in ‘where we’re from’. Most notably, the project looks to represent time through the moti...
What a wonderfully edited video, the song choices and transitions are a viewing delight. My eyes weep only because they are unable to watch this again for the first time. What a talented and handsome man this Zac is.
insane video zac 🔥
This is so good bro ❤
Moğollar founder of Anatolian rock , since 1968.. ruclips.net/video/VCgmrof759c/видео.html
so bored of the penttathonic scales and the CIA music propaganda in the Western Radio
Great video, kinda ruined by the stink of modern prog politics, but still great video. Also, check out Altin Gün.
I need this as a feature film where they end up together PLEAASEEEE 😭🙏🏻ILL PAY HOWEVER YOU WANT!
We have a word for art in Turkey Our founding father (Mustafa Kemal Atatürk) said: A nation without art means a nation whose lifeblood has been cut off
Anything and everything Gizz I’ll eat up, especially this video!! Amazing :) I may not agree with 100% of their beliefs, I still love everything about them. Truly a band of the century.
In 80 and 90s heavy metal bands started to appear in Turkey so 80 coup didn’t make the ottoman influence in music resurface
Great video! FAKE NAME
It's quite relieving to finally see Anatolian Psychedelic Rock being rediscovered by Music enthusiasts around the world.
Anatolian Rock finally getting the international love and recognition it deserves! Teşekkürler!
I'm a Turk and I approve this video. You referencing Zürcher's work tells me a lot about you're not talking nonsense. Came here for Anatolian Rock ended up finding out about KG. Great work mate, great work.
Also the band Altin Gun is another great example of that blend of cultures.
King Gizz is actually how I discovered Altin Gün, but I hadn't realized they'd taken inspiration from mid century Turkish Rock music. Really cool video!
dont forget Altin Gun! great band!
I thought I knew about all the old psych-funk but now I got to check out the Anatolian scene
Excellent analysis.
kglw fans its your birthday how does it feel to be 9 .
As a fan of KLWG and big enthusiastic of social history, had to say it's an excellent video!
king lizard and the wizard gizzard lol
you have great video making skills. this channel will def blow up with more videos like this and your others. keep it up!
Your vocal fry is making my throat itch
Excellent video, mate! Thanks!!
How on earth do you have such a small amount of subscribers? Really professional video thank you for making it! Also good to have more videos on my favourite band.
I'm learning something! I'm learning! Finally. Thank you.
Dude, this was excellent. Thank-you, subbed!
But did they yell “wooooooo” in every song?
big KG fan and lover of all kinds of music, fascinating to hear about yet another genre thats heavily influenced areas of their sound. Excellently written and edited video mate
thanks for this video. i hope you won't offended but i have to say that. some of informations that you give is a bit superficial and partly incorrect (especially about turkish political history)
Apologies if some of the Turkish history has mistakes! This was an assignment for a media class focused on global musical influences - as of such the accuracy of the political / historical discussion wasn't my first priority. This being said, I'd love to learn more about the topic - feel free to provide corrections to any inaccuracies you may have come across!
Awesome video! You earned a new subscriber, keep up the good work. I can't wait to see what you have more in store.
Man this is super bizarre having lived through all this. Like... My life is history now. 🤣
Really great video! People should really be subscribing.
Very good content mate, keen for more King Gizzard and music related material!
putting the essay in video essay, very professional and academic!
As a huge Gizzoid here, I had to google anatolian rock bands - AAANNNNNDDDDDDddddd now I have a whole slew of stuff to explore.
Check out Altin Gün!
@@bissell1994 For sure. So good!
Great write up and great editing! I didn't realize there was a long dead scene for this kind of thing before Gizz came around
Super interesting! well done making it understandable for someone who knows nothing about every subject in this vid
fascinating! KG definitely sparked my interest in microtonality, I love the psych-rock fusion! :)
Great playing and beautiful guitar's and basses.
This video was awesome!
This video lasts at least 25 mins
Wow, pal, what a good piece of content! Keep it up!
