1997 X Games Flatland - Trevor Meyer's Final Run
I absolutely love flatland. It's bicycle B Boying.....BMX breakdancing.
Kevin was a time traveler from the future.
What a great video. Chase was one of the most entertaining riders to watch. He made really interesting combinations
Holy crap I was there
Went to high school Samuel Clemens schertz Texas with Reuben Castillo would see him an brother Robert at basketball courts by swimming pool they be practicing for hours they rad dudes GT rules
Whatever happened to this guy?
Trevor is still touring in the usa , doing school events with the ASA no hate tour. I just went and saw Trevor in October at a school event.
Trevor Meyer probably the most consistent flatlander ever.
I remember meeting Trevor Meyer at a show once. Got some stickers signed. Super cool dude.
I love this video
Love this video
Love this video
Very cool right on
Awesome video
This is real flatland, not the ballerina stuff of today.
I miss when BMX had breaks, I dun care what people say, tricks were smoother and more fun to watch.
trash..
Gabe Weed sold me my freestyle wheel set a few years back. Cheap Goods BMX is owned and run by Gabe Weed, Professional BMX rider.
i like lamp
FLATLANDERS MAKE THE BEST LOVERS!
Back in 1996-1997 I was learning flatland & there was this Asian kid from my home town who was like *REALLY* Incredible… and I had a black Dyno Air which was outfitted with red Primo V-Monster Tires, Dave Voeleker 4-Piece Handlebars, GT Overdrive Sprocket, red ODI grips, red Odyssey 99er seat, black/red brake levers that I think came from a buddy’s Royce Union Freestyle bike, and more… & the Asian kid had a Chrome _Fishbone Big Ass_ & I thought I needed to get a bike like his & he was like “Listen, it’s not about the bike, if you look at like Flatland contests or see guys doing flatland, they all have bikes like yours, your problem is right here [slaps my black GT 3-Spoke Mag Wheels] _(…Mag Wheels are Plastic, Bicycle Brakes work using the principles of Friction; as the brake pads touch the plastic surface, it wears increasingly more & more smooth decreasing friction making the brakes less & less effective…)_ so, my local bike shops all said “scuff up the surface of the mags which the brake pads touch with sandpaper & you should be good!!” So I figured “Fuck it, I’m going to order enough Skateboard Grip tape to grip up 10 Skateboard Decks, and I’ll cut up the grip tape with an X-Acto Knife, and stick it onto the sides of the mag” so, I bought 2 sheets of Grip Tape from a skate shop like 15 miles from my house, and I did it, after about a week the grip tape had sanded the brake pads enough so they weren’t rubbing all the time, but the grip tape had worn through…
wow, they actually played Rock instead of Rap back then :)
Damn. Never knew how good Gabe was on a bike - some mad combos right there. The Robot Meyer sure never disappoints. How can you spin, roll and jump in any direction with ease? This guy has no room for weakness.......
7:16 that deathtruck was BEAUTIFUL, aggressive but with style and got out of it like nothing... *LEGEND!*
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Oh wow!!!! I saw the footage on the black Powerlite and this is almost beyond superlatives. Even if l saw all of that in 96 this is right up there to, as some of the most skilled riding l've ever seen🏆🏆🏆🏆
Love the blue show
My favorite two flatland riders. These two guys are awesome. Chad still kills it.
Essentially the birth of brakeless flatland..... Outside of the pinky squeaks in the very beginning, pretty sure this was the first all brakeless flatland section in a video. Timeless.
This video dropped in early 97. Footage likely from 96. Degroot did a brakeless part in 500 miles that dropped in 95. Footage likely 94. Chase is better and the best ever in my book.
backwards scuffing is lit!
from 95 to early 97 I was riding flat in Los Angeles. Met Eddie Fiola, Jesse Puente, Shawn, Day, Allien Landen and Andreas Tschuck, but mainly lived the streetlife as a soulrider. Never even heared of Trevor and the other guys then. BMX can beam you into another sphere....
I think Trevor Meyer should have gotten first place.
He taught us all
Jesus....Ending his run right on the buzzer with a smith decade - after this endless combo. Bumping that tire at the end shows his relief and satisfaction. We ´ve heard stories about him "stealing", copying stuff vom Kev, Ch but I feel that he simply loves to ride and the audience sees it in his style and commitment to the sport. Ride on, Robot.
Andrew before he turned into Dennis Rodman
lol mike S develop those handlebar and brakeless era
Good times. I have all this on vhs. Miss those days.
Wow bringing back so many memories. Thank you
Almost got emotional watching this. Was just 14 when this was aired. Most x games athletes then wer my heroes. 25 years later. Times flies. Enjoy your life. Do want you want.
I was so excited when l first saw this and like a little kid. And l was ha ppy for flatland despite the general public not quite comprehending it. Yeah 25 years has just flown by but riding's still fun.
Sick
@jay man What song 5:30?
It's called "Lost in Wonder" by Craig Joiner. I didn't see any videos on RUclips but here's a link : www.universalproductionmusic.com/es-lae/discover/albums/1492/acoustic-rock-themes
What song 5:30?
Trever beat the guy in the first 5 seconds of his run! lol where the hell is flatland today?
Lol I know. That first backwheel link was crazy. Seems like flatland is more popular in other countries these days but is still an underground sport.
I wonder how good he is today!?
He still rides to this day but doesn't compete anymore. Does halftime shows and high school events mostly. His style changed a lot but is still a very good rider.
I actually work with Trevor Meyer I got his autograph card to! He is such a cool guy
Legendary!
Gabe built a bike for me in Costa Mesa about 7 years ago. Total legend and such a nice dude. Complete OG.
One of the greatest freestyler ever.
Most impressive
I remembers entry level bikes... You could bend the dropout with your hand.
I wonder if show had fully back welded dropouts.
Thank you for uploading this!!
