There's a big problem with this Ambitious Canal Plan! The Mediterranean Sea (MS) and shore has Natural Gas, just one spark with heavy equipment or explosions to remove the volume of dirt, could ignite the MS. To move this volume of dirt in a timely manner, a Nuclear Device would have to be set hundreds of feet below the canal surface! This is the problem, like the "Snowball Effect," but larger...God Help Us All, If Something Goes Wrong! Nature Gas Is Harmful To breathe, especially, if it explodes!
