Using an Oreck XL2 for 60 Days, what’s left behind??
I have used my XL2 for the last 60 days exclusively in our home to see how well it would clean, what would be in the bag, then use my Sanitaire SC 679 to see if any imbedded dirt was left. I did this for the fun of it, and it’s not scientific. I enjoy the Oreck vacuum, it’s not for everyone but is great for quick pickups, but deep cleaning is not its strong point.

Sanitaire SC679 Upgrade/Vacuuming

Brand new SC679 that I have upgraded the brush roll and bag. I’ll be using the Vibra-Groomer 2 brush roll along with an Envirocare F&G conversion bag. I’ll also be using the Koblenz HEPA bags. I’ve used the Tristar for an entire month and show how much was picked up in the bag. Our house has a family of 4 and a dog so we see plenty of dirt and dust. I salvaged a Kirby 518 from a friends shed and restored to how it would have been in 1958.
I'm honestly surprised there wasn't quite a bit more. especially with that first really thick shaggy rug.
I’m surprised it didn’t get more than the Oreck. I guess there’s a reason I’ve always loved my Oreck. It’s easier to use, lighter weight, and way way less bulky/cumbersome.

Hey man if you want a actual deep clean on that carpet put the workhorse on low setting and go slow threw there

You do beautiful work 😮 wow! Where did you get the bearings for the motor? Is there anyway to lubricate the bearings while they're still in the motor?
As a former distributor for these machines that are btw, no longer being made, call tristar manufacturer in Bristol VA and ask for the nearest authorized service dealer and they can fix the motor housing that's coming off. It has to be re sealed. Also, are you using the rear hepa'/ activated carbon exhaust filter? If not, I'd highly suggest you do so

One of the first videos to show how to rebuild the brush roll on the Fantom Fury. I have rebuilt brushrolls before and they now spin freely and sound smooth as it should.

@@kirbytex8545 correct. The ametek motors on these are easy to service. I haven’t taken a motor apart on these before but I took the vacuum all the way apart down to the motor to clean it.
@@Javesike it’s supper easy to rebuilt. I just cleaned and repacked the bearings on this one. Wasn’t hard at all.

No dry soil, u got some pretty clean floors there but when u have a workhorse that's expected. That machine is definitely deep cleaning
Interesting difference, I find the performance of the Oreck and the Workhorse to be a draw, both seem to perform equally similar. Both do have average suction and airflow (especially the Oreck being that it's a direct air), but I do think what gives the Workhorse the advantage over the Oreck is the brush roll having slightly stiffer bristles on the brush roll.
I got an older TriStar at the auction today. Although it will be fixed, and re-sold, I will tell you it's quite impressive. I have a central vac, so I'm in good shape.

Great video! That's not too bad considering you have others in the house. You keep your carpets and floors pretty clean.
@mattjones, thanks. I usually vacuum twice a week. When you have as many vacuums as I do they’ve got to be used lol.
@@kirbytex8545 I hear that! I have two Kirbys and a Royal. I also have a Dirt Devil hand vac and two Shop Vac vacuums at my house. I have an Oreck Commercial and a Eureka 1934 B at my grandmother's house.

Nice video. I.used to have a full size lab as an inside dog I filled up 5 HEPA bags in one vacuuming. These bags get every hair and work fantastic.

You did an EXCELLENT job!! It is up to you on the headlight, but you can find a new wire/socket for it at www.kirbyneeds.com. I replaced mine in my 519 a few years back and it works like new.

Online and a local vacuum shop that’s been in business since the 50s. They still have a lot of the old parts
