You really should take a Mushroom identification course before you ride the vomit comet or worse. Clue #1 chanterelles are a ground growing mushroom, not wood based. Clue #2 they grow individually or at most pairs. What you have luckily is honey mushrooms that are edible. They have a nasty look a like called the Jack o lantern. Grows in similar configuration. I highly recommend a field guide at the minimum. Not trying to bust your balls. I have been picking wild mushrooms for 30+ years and just got my wild mushroom certification/resale license. the rope breaking during the ditch witch ascent is not what the concern should be here. It should be the strength of the top that you are pulling him up from. "Assuming" there isn't a block set up on the stem, and that you are going over some union, all i can say is, be careful.

Always good to carry 2 lanyards, that way he can exchange them while he’s walking up by limbs. Scary to see someone fall from that high because they accidentally weren’t clipped in properly. But great job excellent work!
