    How do you know the torque setting using that tool, until it stops and a tad more? I have the external bb tool but was wondering if i need a socket tool to fit to torque wrench. Appreciate this as i was worried my bb tool would rip the teeth.

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 18 часов назад

      Hello, Ideally this needs to be torqued using a torque wrench which I would recommend - however I personally have gone until it’s tight using the tool, and then a few more clicks. There is no need to go super super tight. I have had no issues with stripping teeth or things coming loose. I hope this helps 😊

    So difficult for the rear...I love the RRP Extender or the long Standard.....BUT a.) I dont know...if you load and unload your suspension the guard will rub within the lower bar...so the best would be to mount something on the lower bar b.) If that is not the case somehow...it would be okay...if it would "click in" somewhere or "bolt on" ...sadly this is probably hard to achieve. I would premount something that you barely see, so that you can quickly get rid of the mudguard... c.) To also get a bikers protection, you simply cannot go around those long mudguards. Unleazhed has the most stable one, the sks mudrocke is decent and has a extension into the lower parts as well (not long enough in my case) and the mucky nutz have an unstable thingy, but a good way to extend on a short one into that long mudguard (which is the only thing that saves your ass) God, I wish there would be quick mounts neatly hidden and you can click in whatever you see fit...a shorty for the linkage and for looks or the crazy long one. Perhaps it would need to be mounted on both lower and higher bars and can move into each other or something. :) I simply cannot stand all the zipties or velcro strips.... :)

    Does adding a spacer effect the max psi allowed, or does it change the max rider weight limit? I am 335 and am looking to add spacers. For a rider of 250 the manual suggests 113 psi, with a max 120 psi. Since I exceed that, how many spacers should I add, and what psi should I run?

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 25 дней назад

      @@mebeadamb Hello 👋 To my knowledge - no, adding volume spacers does not change the max rider weight limit or max shock pressure. For now try to get the correct sag measurement. I would start with 115/117 psi and see what the sag measurement is. From there you can add a little pressure or reduce it to achieve the sag measurement you want 😊 Once you are happy with the sag, ride the bike and see how it feels. If you are going through the suspension travel too easily or bottoming out, then add some volume spacers 😊 I would not recommend going over the max shock pressure or the max amount of volume spacers. I hope this answers your question and helps. If you have any more questions please ask away 😊

    I need a bit of help. Can you confirm something for me, please? I got a new eMTB. It came with the 160 mm Fox Float X. It came with a 0.9 volume spacer in the rear shock. I weigh 270 lbs at the moment, but I feel I can't get my sag set to 30%. The PSI is maxing out at the same as my weight, 270 PSI. With the 0.9 spacer inserted, I am about 35% to 40% sag. I could do with at least another 20 PSI to bring the shock to sag. From my understanding of the loss of max PSI in the EVOL can with adding spacers, if I remove it and put in a 0.6 or 0.7, I should, in theory, be able to get the extra PSI I need?

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 3 месяца назад

      @@Emtbtoday Hello, sorry about my slow reply… Ideally volume spacers should be left until sag is set correctly and the bike has been ridden to see how it feels and how progressive or linear it is. However I understand your issue, I would say give it a go and see what you find 😊 As long as you do not go over the max pressure for your shock then you shouldn’t have any issues. Just be aware that reducing the volume spacers size will make the bike more linear and easier to bottom out. On the other hand adding a volume spacer or increasing the volume spacers size will increase how progressive your bike is. If your running a large amount of sag - this will certainly help to reduce bottom outs I would personally start by trying a slightly larger volume spacer, go back to your max pressure and see where you sit with sag 😊 I’m sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer but hopefully the info above is helpful.

    Interesting I just fitted the new enduro one's and can't get them to stay on my new emtb! Pedal forward they unscrew and fall off its a brand new bike and brand new Pedals had to dig the left out my shin yesterday when happened again! Just wondering if this was the right way round or if they should tighten when pedalling like my old bike's? Sound pretty stupid asking this it does have the R and L stamped on them and on correct it's not the spindle unscrewing it's the actual Pedal from crank arms!?

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 4 месяца назад

      Hello 😊 The left pedal will not go into the right crank arm and the right pedal should not go into the left crank arm as the threads are opposite. They do need a nip to stay in place. I can’t see why they would come loose if they are nipped tight… it might be worth tightening them up a little more or maybe using some loctite, however this isn’t usually needed 😊 How are the bearings? Are they a little stiff? I hope this helps 😊

    Had a pair fitted in my E bike for a couple of years now. last weekend i had a folat due to me damaging the rim tape when i installed the tyre so I rode it 5 miles back to the car park at about 80 to 90 % as hard as I would with it inflated. i was so impressed that when i got back to the car i deliberately deflated the front too and rode a short section of red trail close to the car park with both tyres fully deflated. Ok so it felt like i was running with about 5 to 10 PSI and did feel a bit squishy but Ive got to be honest, it was far from horrible, It cornered Ok and the wheels wernt making a thudding sound as they rolled across lumps bumps and roots. Im wondering now if I'll ever bother to carry my CO2 inflater and plug kit with me again.

    my shock pump loses air everytime i take out the shock pump and doesnt put any air inside the pump can you help me??

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 4 месяца назад

      Hello, 👋 When you connect the shock pump to the shock or fork, the air pressure will drop slightly. This is down to the air volume being shared between the suspension air chamber and the shock pump, instead of just being in the suspension air chamber, leading to a slight drop in pressure. When you disconnect the shock pump from the fork or shock there will be a hissing noise as the shock pump looses its pressure. The pressure in the fork or shock should not change though as the valve is closed before the seal between the shock pump and fork or shock is opened. If you are losing a significant amount of air when removing the shock pump, or the shock pump is not pressurising the fork or shock, then you may have a faulty shock pump. Make sure the pump connection is clean and clear and ensure the pump itself is not loose in any way. If your pump still isn’t working correctly, then I would replace the shock pump. I hope this helps

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 5 месяцев назад

      Hello, personally I would take it to a bike shop or order the right tool. I know it means waiting for the tool to arrive and there is more cost. But otherwise you risk damaging the lock ring or chainring. However if you don’t want to order the right tool then you could use a large set of grips to remove the ring, I have also heard of some people using a hammer and flat bladed screwdriver to tap the lock ring free. I hope this helps 😊

    Agarro and Xynotal are the best rear tyres right now, for all around trail riding.

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 5 месяцев назад

      Hello 😊 Thank you for sharing this! I love the Agarro for trail riding. I love how fast is it. Unfortunately I haven’t ridden with the Xynotal yet. What is it like?

  • @MotorsportsX
    @MotorsportsX 5 месяцев назад

    I run agarros because they are so light and they pedal SO easy. But I need like 10% more grip. Im thinking of just going with the Mazza trail. if the agarros can hold up, im guessing the mazza should as well. any thoughts?

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 5 месяцев назад

      I would suggest looking at the Martello. It sits between the Agarro and the Mazza and it is available in the same trail casing as the Agarro. It is a fantastic tyre that still rolls very well but provides more all round grip than the Agarro. The Mazza is a brilliant tyre too however it does roll slower than both the Martello and the Agarro. So if you want to maintain the light and easy to pedal feeling (which I love!) than I would suggest the Martello I hope this helps, so sorry my reply was slow

    Had the same problem. So i send it to fox, they made the service and it worked fine for like 2-3 months befor making the same noise again. Was out of warranty so i paid the service. But now im hesitating because i dont want to pay again and then 3 months later face the same issue. 👍🏽

    • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 5 месяцев назад

      Hello 👋 Thank you for sharing this. Unfortunately this does seem to be a common theme - shocks not lasting long after a service before making this noise again. If the rebound and overall performance is consistent and unaffected. Then I would save your money and just use the shock as it is 😊 I know the noise is annoying but if the performance is the same then I would just use it. I hope Fox find a solution for this in the future

      Hello, so sorry for my slow reply. No there isn’t an indication for this unfortunately. I would suggest using a torque wrench if you have one. Personally I just guessed and went tight enough to the point where I didn’t think it would come loose. It have not had any issues since doing this 😊

      @JakeBrookesBiking 5 месяцев назад

      Hello 👋 I am very sorry about my slow reply. Some (but very few) forks and shocks are set up to be able to use a system like this. At the moment I’m not sure of any other brand fitting this standard on their bikes, although I would think some XC race bikes will have this as standard. It could be retrofitted to a bike. However this requires a fair few extra parts and some forks and shock will not be compatible. It is a shame this isn’t an option on trail bikes as it is a brilliant feature to have. • @JakeBrookesBiking
      @JakeBrookesBiking 6 месяцев назад

      Hello Daniel, I would try putting some penetrating oil on the threads and leave overnight to see if it will free it up a little (try not to get any fluid on your disc contact area) You could also try extending the handle of the lockring tool to give you a bit more leverage. Failing that you could use a flat bladed screwdriver and a hammer to tap the lockring free. I hope this helps 😊
