Love it ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@@WalkingAttractions Love it, thank you very much.
Very clean little Canadian river town. Grew up in Ogdensburg and remember riding the ferry to Prescott and the great Chinese restaurant they had there.
Thanks for sharing your memories! Prescott is indeed a charming town. That ferry ride and the Chinese restaurant sound wonderful. Glad you enjoyed the video! 🚢🍜
i was a dancer here! in the last show! it was so amazing to be here!
Thank you for sharing! It must have been an incredible experience to be part of the celebration. Your performance added so much to the event, and I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed it. 🎉🏴
You should redo this video it looks like a video about home landscaping not a town
Unless of course there isn’t much in Chelsea
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your input and will keep it in mind for future videos.
Thinking about moving here from southern Ontario (can't stand the city/GTA anymore). Thank you for the video! I'm guessing the man in the blue shirt is your husband lol
Thank you for watching! Pembroke is a great place with lots to offer.
I'd love to visit and wear a 19th century dress🥹
Thank you! Visiting Upper Canada Village in a 19th-century dress would be amazing! It's a great way to truly experience the 1860s. I hope you get to visit soon! 😊
I frankly don’t care if the Canadian Armed Forces on the whole has dropped its grooming standards “because we now live in a modern world” which I think is a load of crap. That gold Sergeant with the long untidy hair in the Governor General’s Foot Guards forage cap looked absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. Do remember you are a ceremonial unit in the capital and all eyes from around the world are on you and people WILL compare you with your more professional looking counterparts in the UK. I am frankly embarrassed to see this as a veteran.
Thank you for your insights and for your service. As a veteran, your perspective on the standards and traditions of military units is invaluable. It’s important to discuss how changes impact public perception and tradition. I appreciate your candid feedback.
Glad you captured the historic bascule bridge over the Rideau…but railfans would also have liked to see the Rail Museum of Eastern Ontario, and even the busy CP rail yard!😢
Thanks for watching! The bascule bridge is a highlight. Great idea about the Rail Museum and CP rail yard. I'll consider them for a future video!
Haven't been to Smiths falls since 1st yr university when i spent the summer nearby working at an Easter Seals camp for the disabled kids. 1980s, looks even quieter now! Very pretty area.
Thanks for sharing! Smiths Falls has changed but remains a beautiful, peaceful area. Glad you enjoyed the video!
OMG!!! I was an exchange student there in 2005 and loved the town so much!! Hasn't been changed much. Thanks for letting me able to see there once again🥹
Thanks for sharing! So glad you enjoyed your time in Arnprior. Happy to show you it still looks great!

You are a great person, I salute you ❤🙏. I am from India 🇮🇳

The music is a nice touch even tho it would be nice if you could tell us about it .
Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the music.
How much is it cost to visit their?
Thanks for your interest! The admission cost for Upper Canada Village can vary depending on the season and any special events. I recommend checking their official website for the most accurate and up-to-date pricing information. Hope you get to visit soon and enjoy it!
Nice village, I'm enjoying

Lovely walking tour, very tranquil! by the way is it true people from hawkesbury are both bilingual in English and French?
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the walking tour. Yes, it's true that many people in Hawkesbury are bilingual in both English and French. The town has a vibrant bilingual community which adds to its charm. Thanks for watching.

Looks like a third-rate British hotel 😂
Thanks for watching. Rideau Hall has its own unique charm and history, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's definitely an interesting place with lots of stories to tell. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I notice that they don't carry their arms in the same way as the Guards do in the UK, so there are some differences. I understand that Canadian Guardsmen have carried out guard duties in London, including a Guard's Regiment from Québec. The Mounties have also been on guard duty at Horseguards in London and it was a great success. Their presence was very much appreciated.
That's an insightful observation! It's true, the Canadian Guards do have some unique aspects compared to their UK counterparts. And yes, Canadian Guardsmen, including those from Québec, have indeed served guard duties in London, which has been a great honor. The presence of the Mounties at Horseguards is another fantastic example of the rich cultural exchange and mutual respect between the two countries. It's wonderful to hear how much their participation was appreciated. Thanks for sharing this great information!
The difference in the way they hold their arms is due to the different rifles they use (or more specifically, a bullpup vs standard rifle). If you look up footage of British Guards before the 1980s, when they still used a standard style rifle instead of a bullpup, they would hold their arms the same way you see the Canadian guards do now. Basically when the Brits adopted the bullpup, they had to adjust the way they held their rifles, as a bullpup doesn't exactly conform to the standard way of holding a standard rifle.
@@WintSong Thanks for sharing that insightful detail! It's fascinating to learn how the changes in equipment have influenced ceremonial traditions over time. Your knowledge adds so much depth to understanding the nuances of these traditions. Appreciate you taking the time to explain this!
I heard that carrots and dates place is amazing
Glad to hear you've heard good things. Thanks for your comment.

Yea
Thank you for visiting my home town
Thank you for watching! I really enjoyed exploring your hometown and sharing its beauty with everyone. It's a wonderful place with so much to offer. Thanks for your warm welcome in the comments!
Its the official residence of both the Canadian Monarch and Governor General ❤
Exactly right! Rideau Hall is the official home for both the Canadian Monarch and the Governor General. Thanks for pointing that out!
We live not far from St. Raphael's. It's a wonderful ruin with lots of atmosphere. Sometimes they have concerts there.
Awesome to hear you're so close to St. Raphael's! It must be pretty cool to catch concerts in a place like that. Thanks for dropping this info. If you've got any must-see events or fun stories from there, definitely let me know!
Why do these guards have to wear British uniforms but don't have their Canadian uniforms?? Very boring, Canada doesn't seem to have anything that belongs to them.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! The guards' uniforms are indeed inspired by British military traditions, reflecting Canada's historical ties with the UK. However, Canada also has its own unique heritage and symbols, including distinct military uniforms used in other contexts. The choice of attire for certain ceremonies is a nod to history, but it doesn't diminish Canada's rich and diverse culture. I appreciate your perspective and hope you'll find other aspects of Canada's identity and heritage that resonate with you!
@@WalkingAttractions You should see the Australian Federation Guards who have historic links with the UK but don't have UK king guard uniforms like Canada.
캐나다 군주는 영국국왕이고 총독이 대리인임
@@ET8k Thanks for sharing that interesting tidbit! It’s fascinating to learn about the different ways countries honor their historical connections, especially through something as visual and symbolic as military uniforms. I’ll definitely look into the Australian Federation Guards and their unique traditions. It’s amazing how each place has its own way of blending history with the present. Thanks again for your comment!
@@user-uf3zi3th6z Thank you for pointing that out! You're correct that Canada's head of state is the British monarch, represented in Canada by the Governor General. It's a unique aspect of Canada's political system that reflects its historical ties with the UK. Appreciate your insight!

I grew up in Aylmer but have now lived in Nova Scotia for the past ten years. Whenever I'm feeling homesick, I put this video on and I feel like I'm out for a stroll in the same streets that I walked through for years growing up. They look exactly the way I remember them. A little correction for your description - Aylmer was amalgamated with Gatineau and Hull in 2002. In 1975, it was actually a different amalgamation of the three smaller towns of Aylmer, Lucerne and Deschenes, which created the Aylmer that I grew up in in the 90s. Both the 1975 and the 2002 amalgamations were very important events in Aylmer's history. Anyway, thank you for sharing your appreciation of my little gem of a hometown!
Thank you for your heartfelt comment! It's truly special to hear that this video helps reconnect you with your roots in Aylmer. Your detailed correction about the town's history is much appreciated, and it's fascinating to learn about the significant amalgamations in 1975 and 2002. Your personal reflections add a unique touch to the history of Aylmer, especially regarding its transformation in the 90s. It's great to see such pride and affection for your hometown. Thanks again for sharing these memories and insights!
