One Blues BASS LINE You Need to Learn (Tutorial)
#electricbass #bassguitar #basslesson
Hey guys, in todays video we will be discussing a new Blues and Jazz inspired bass line that can have a big impact on your bass playing. I learned bass lines similar to this from a bunch of 12 bar blues based songs I played when I was a teenager.
Learning one bass line such as this can help you in many ways...
1. It is a multi piece bass line with a lot going on
2. It helps practice a 4 finger cage technique
3. It helps practice arpeggios and use them in a functional way
4. It helps view the fretboard in both a vertical and horizontal perspective.
5. It combines almost every element we have learned on this channel so far!
We do a lot more string switchin...

As a newbie to the bass this is a great exercise for the fretting fingers and it sounds good too! Thank you very much!
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Best of luck with your playing
Way too much talk ,alot of repeating and unnecessary redundancies, for such fundamental stuff,
Well I appreciate you watching
@@carmeeno I didn't really watch, only about 2 min ,had to stop ,maybe u can improve future content with public feedback, btw I still left 👍cuz I like bass, but you could definitely be more concise,
@@mikegeld1280Mike, Carmine is such a great teacher. Talking on camera is tough. Talking on camera while teaching a lesson must be really tough. If you are going to leave a comment please be encouraging. Don’t be rude.
@@JoeyCapsGaming maybe you shouldn't be so sensitive, if you can't handle constructive criticism, then maybe you're not ready to do this kind of thing,🤔

Love your channel! Are you planning to do a gig video? Like a day in the life of a gigging musician.
Thanks so much! I honestly haven’t had a lot of gigs this year but that is a great idea so when I play next I’ll definitely try to document it!
Love this. Im at the start of my bass journey. This gives so much potential for just jam around and get going. Learning the motes and scales .. massive thanks!

Great video! Please tell us about your great looking jazz bass! Is the neck edgeless?
Thanks for watching! Maybe I’ll talk about it one day haha - it’s a pretty basic Mexican Jazz - but man has it served me well
At 8:46 you are identifying the notes in your scale exercise and they are not correct. The scale degrees should be 1, flatted 7th, 4 and 5. Wanted to clarify so beginners are not confused as to location of scale degrees in the arpeggio. Otherwise nice lesson.
Good catch, my mistake! Appreciate you commenting - thank you for watching.
Diggin' your channel, just found it a couple of days ago! I played the saxophone all through school, I just never understood the theory. Now 30yrs later, I'm trying the bass. Your videos are absolutely game changing for me. Now I just gotta learn all the notes. Lol! Thanks for all you do!
Hey thanks so much for the comment that means alot really - I used to play sax in elementary school as well - similar situation for me the theory just never really stuck. With consistent work, bass can become this really cool foundation for your understanding of theory - I’ve found it’s a nice instrument to learn theory on! Happy you are getting something out of the videos, more on the way!
Awesome channel! Super helpful and practical. Keep it coming! 🙌🏼
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!! More on the way soon

Carmine thank you so much for this video! It has enlightened me so much on how to perform that incredible funk sound. I didn’t mind you instructing throughout the video, I can hear you and the melodic sounds from your bass. It would be nice if you could create a PDF for us to follow as well. 😃
Thanks Joey I really appreciate your comments and happy you enjoyed the video!! The pdf idea is a really good one, I will definitely take that into consideration and as things advance I’ll work on that - I appreciate you

Thanks for watching! String mutiny is a great topic to dive into - lots of different ways to go about it
Great video but it'd be nice if you didn't talk so much. 2 minutes in already and you're still talking😢
Thanks for stopping by, I will take that into consideration 🙏🏼
Real Nice Bro !! Are those drum tracks available somewhere to riff over ? Thanks
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video! These are all from Splice so there is a small subscription fee but also there are a ton of breaks and beats just like this and many more samples to play to - also sometimes just searching beat style and bpm on youtube will yield me good results for playin along as well
@@carmeeno Awesome ! Thanks Carmeeno 👊🏽
Small suggestion…? Item 2 you were presumably demonstrating the effect of empty space. It would be helpful to stop talking a moment to be able to hear what you are demonstrating. Good video overall.
Thanks for watching - noted, I appreciate the feedback
Is it wise to use the piano bass lines for bass guitar?
Yeah that will work! To me bass is bass regardless of which instrument is playing the line - some instruments of course have their own particular strengths and the bass lines may change due to that but piano bass lines are definitely transferable to bass guitar
Нужно просто сыграть сначала и параллельно показать табы. И все. И просмотров будет больше. А так вы разговариваете, что неинтересно. И еще в начале сыграли незначительный кусочек.
Subcribed !!! How about a lesson on practice with a metronome ?
Thanks so much! Love it - anything in particular with playing to metronome? Lmk
@@carmeeno something basic. Using the metronome to improve timing and groove. TY for looking at my suggestion.
Love the idea - lookout for the topic sometime in the future - thanks again 🙏🏼
Just picked up the bass at 65 years old. Having lots of fun with it.
That’s excellent to hear! Thanks for stopping by the channel - How is your progress going so far??
@@carmeeno My only struggle is spreading my fingers far enough to use my pinky. So I just don't use it. I am only playing on the first four frets right now and practicing scales. I learned a few Rolling Stones songs and some Who. But I am no Geddy Lee or Les Claypool yet.
I too struggle with strength in my pinky - working on playing four frets at a time and utilizing your four fretting fingers properly is a great thing to practice every day. It can help build strength in not only the finger that is currently fretting the note but the other 3 as well. I am thinking of doing a video on it because it is something I still deal with
@@carmeeno It would be great to see a video. Thanks!
I've heard somewhere "make music when you are practicing music", and I think that is at the heart of this lesson.
I couldn't agree more - and what a good quote. It has to be practical, real music for your brain to believe it I think!
Such a great story!
