TVA Coal Train stopping at Roddy
BNSF leads the coal train from the TVA Kingston Fossil Plant. It's making a quick stop at Roddy on 7-12-2024. We'll catch this one again later at Cawood Lane.
The pusher unit looks like it's has some scorching in the middle of the unit.

Wasn't a close one, but caught a gate crasher at Cawood Lane. Granted, the gates had come down WAY early ( I timed it at about 2 minutes before the train even came in sight ). NS7642 is southbound to Spring City.

Do you know what days and or a rough time this train goes through this area? I would love to get pics and video of a loaded BNSF coal train.
I don't know know of any schedule, but I see it frequently. Sometimes it's tied down in the siding in Rockwood over the weekend. Most of the catches I've made of it have been in the afternoon on a Friday. I saw it crossing the bridge across 27 on Saturday (9/7) as we were going to Knoxville. As you likely know, TVA is set to move to natural gas at the Kingston plant by the end of 2027.

Thanks BackAlley! It's been fun. I know the yard needs mowing and the deck needs washing (finally got that done, btw), but it's hard to resist that rush when you hear the horn in the distance and the gate bells ringing.
