You can't multi-task on 8gb of ram. In windows 10 that's a typical 46% usage on idle. 16 is a minimum rn.

Good the specs are so unbalanced. Don't waste money for 64gb of ram to only have a 4070 with 8gb if vram. Get a 16-32gb ram laptop with a 4080/90 because there's 4-8gb more vram in those gpus. And if you need the ram for heavy workstation tasks, get a better processor than a hs cpu. Get a ryzen HX.

Stop mixing amd and nividia graphics cards they dont play well together my legion pro 5 has amd and nividia graphics and most of my games crash every damn time

Guys if your getting a gaming laptop ignore any laptop that doesn't have atleast a ryzen 7845hx cpu or 4080 gpu. All ryzen HX cpus from 7845hx to 7945hx3d beat all of intels cpus in all aspects. And the graphics cards xx70 and lower all have pretty poor amounts of vram. On the budget side I can recommend a alienware m18 r2 laptop with a 7845hx cpu and 4080m gpu. If you're willing to spend up to 3k for a top of the line laptop, get a scar 17x3d. It's one of 3 laptops to use the best cpu on the laptop market, on the only cpu to have a 3d cache. It's got the best cpu+gpu, and a damn good cooling system. It's standard price is $3699 but it frequently drops to $3000 and will only cost less after black Friday.

Modern games eat up massive amounts of vram. More than that laptop gpus are weaker than desktop versions. You shouldn't get any laptop for gaming if it doesn't have a 4090m/7900m gpu. 4060m/4070m have 8gb of vram, 4080m has 12, and the 4090m has 16gb. The 4090m is only slightly better than the last generation flagship desktop gpu. Also when getting a laptop for gaming look at the cpu. I highly recommend staying away from Intel because it's more suited to workstation tasks, and the newer ones are unstable. Look for any laptops with a Ryzen-HX type cpu, (7845hx and above). Your better pick without getting top of the line is probably something like the alienware m18 r2. If you have the money to get something better, the best laptop you can get right now is the scar 17x3d ($3699 but frequently drops to $3000), it is the highest performing laptop on the market right now, only dwarfed by a $5000-6000 msi laptop with the same hardware but a different cooling system and a larger screen.

$3500??? I bought this same pc with an i9 14900KF and 4080 Super bundled with a $1K 34" oled monitor and only paid $3400. That also includes the extended warranty i paid for.

This is between high-end and low end. And if you want it for gaming, make the sacrifice for high end. The 4060 in it only has 6-8gb of vram where if you go up to the 4080 or 4090 you get 12. Also if you can find a laptop with a radeon gpu those things pack away 16gb of vram. Completely needed for the newer games.
