Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Год назад
This tutorial will walk you through working double crochet rib. This is made with double crochet worked in the back loops only - dc blo. (US crochet terms: single crochet worked in the back loop only - sc blo). I use this technique on my Lowrider jumper and in several of the projects in my book. Although this tutorial demonstrates on a cuff, it is the same method around a hem, armhole or neckline.

Working 1dc, 2ch instead of 3ch
Просмотров 1 тыс.Год назад
When working UK trebles (US doubles), 3ch is often used to gain height at the start of a row and count as the first stitch. One of my testers suggested I try 1dc, 2ch instead as it looks a lot neater. (US crochet terms: 1sc, 2ch) I tried it and totally agreed. Now its all I use. Thanks Abi for the tip!

Do you have a free pattern
No sorry.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I've been trying to figure out this exact cuff, and I was able to nail it on my first try after following your tutorial 🎉 you explain everything so well, it's super easy to follow!
Oh i feel sad reading these negative comment. You explain very clearly and the written pattern is straightforward to follow. The videos give that 'extra' to use along with the pattern. Ive completed the jumped and now working on the cardigan❤
Where is tutorial 1
All the tutorials are in the Granny Go Round cardigan playlist. ruclips.net/p/PL448SIl3Y-ggHzAo3rADg6oFqZJz8qvoP&si=1cJHPdwLjoCqceYw
Is there a part 1?
Hi, no the written pattern has instructions and charts for the hood. However if you need pattern support just drop me an email at ironlambdesigns@gmail.com and I'll get you back on track 😊
How can I order your book, please...😊
Hi there, there is a link on my RUclips profile, but if you type 'Modern Granny Stitch Crochet' into Amazon you will see it. Its by Claudine Powley (aka me!) x
Thank you!
Good way to make no twist is work first 2 or 3 rows then join then continue row 3 or 4 …
I’m finding this quite tricky. My pattern states 18 sts and 8 rows to 10 cm but even changing my hook size I simply cannot get 8 rows to 10 cm - it’s more like 16 rows, even though my stitches are correct. I’ve tried working in a much looser tension but am still getting at least 14 rows to 10cm.
Is it a granny stitch pattern? If so then I guess 18 sts would be 6 granny stitch groups to 10cm and 8 rows. Which means the stitches must be quite tall?? Is it UK treble stitches? (US double crochets)
Okay good, so this is a top down cardigan
Hello dear. I am relatively new to your channel and would like to say that I think your tutorials are very well-explained and very clear. It is evident from some of the comments that there are some viewers who obviously need extra lessons in crochet, and I therefore suggest that they increase their knowledge before submitting complaints about how you present your work! For my part, I can categorically state that if I did not find your channel suitable for my crocheting needs, I would not return as I have done on several occasions. Furthermore, I'm sorry to read that those viewers whose first language is not English feel they are entitled to a translation and/or subtitles. There is a very simple answer to that and I leave it up to the intelligence of the relevant viewer to work it out! But hey, here's a clue! Given the technology that is available to modern society perhaps they should try using a language translation app!? 🤷🙋👍🙏
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your story, it's great to hear how other's got into crochet before the interweb! 😄 I'm sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel and I hope that you can get some treatment so that you can crochet pain-free. It's such a fun hobby it would be a shame if you had to slow down. Thanks for subscribing to my channel and I hope you find it useful ☺️💗
Hello dear. I was looking on the web for a raglan pattern and found your channel! I've been crocheting for many years now, over 50 in fact! I began learning in the 7Os. I had been taught by a nurse while I spent time in hospital as a child, and I am forever grateful to that lovely nurse! My poor mother so was busy with me and my 5 brothers there wasn't much time for anything else, Bless her! And when I crocheted my first poncho, I think she was just as proud as I was. One of the best things about crochet is it's rapid growth once begun, and as I've never possessed the virtue of patience (until now), I was so glad my poncho developed quickly. But, like a lot of things in life my new skill got put on the back burner for several years until I picked it up again in the early 80s. Since then I've learnt lots of new patterns and keep some in my head! Also, I find the older type much easier to complete as the stitch references are not so sophisticated. But hey, a stitch is a stitch and there is always something new to learn! Sadly, I'm now very limited to the length of time I can spend on my crochet as I've just been told I have carpal tunnel. And what with other injuries, it hurts! But for me, crochet is like an addiction and sits there calling to me! So. In goes the co-codamol and out comes the hooks and wool! I just love it so much! Well, thanks for reading my comment and very good luck with your channel to which I have now subscribed. 🙋👍😀🙏
Thanks for sharing!❤
This is seriously the most incredible and genious crochet hack I've seen ever!!! Thank you for this!❤
Thank you for this. I am definitely a visual learner 😊
Thank you for sharing.
And you can stack another dc on top of the first (instead of ch2) to make it even neater!
Hi, would an xs work for a 10-12yr old girl? I can only find adult or baby patterns of this style.
Hi there is a kids pattern too which goes up to 10-11 years. It's on www.ironlamb.co.uk or Ravelry, Etsy or Lovecrafts. But you could use the XS for a 12 year old, depending on their bust circumference 🙂
Really helpful clips. I’ve dropped my hook size by .5 after this tension swatch video. Looking forward to starting to crochet my low rider jumper. Thank you.
Brilliant, thank you!
This cardigan seems doable and lovely. How are the various sizes considered in this particular pattern? I’d like an oversized say 2x.
Hi, the 2XL fits someone with a 122-126cm bust (48 - 49 5/8 inches) with 8cm (3 inches) of positive ease. Further measurements for each size are listed in the pattern description which can be found on Ravelry, Etsy, Lovecrafts or ironlamb.co.uk 😊
Thank you!
Hi, I'm sorry you don't like my technique, Everyone crochets differently. I dont show the whole row because the row is symmetrical..it's the same at the other end as the part I show in the video. Every row is different for every size, so it would be an extremely long video if I went through every row in every size. I am just showing how the rows start and finish and how the shoulder decrreases work. If you're still having problems please email me at ironlambdesigns@gmail.com and I will get you back on track :-)
Your tutorial is very hard to follow. You are jerking your work around, you don't show how to do the complete row. I paid for your written pattern, it is not easy to follow.
What size chain will I need for a medium [M] adult size, please. Also, can you let me know what the multiples are for the adult [M] medium size❓️❓️ On your webpage, it says Sizing bust 92-96 cm width 52cm, "But how many chains does it require to be even in the front/back and even on the sides."❓️❓️ Is their a multiple or is it just enough changes to meet the size❓️❓️ Thank you...✨️🫶🏻✨️🫶🏻✨️
Hi, it's all explained in the written pattern 😊
I noticed this morning that you now offer this pattern in US terms, so of course I had to buy it! Especially after your video tutorials helped me gain confidence that I can do this.
Hi you can use the decrease method used on the Granny Go Round jumper shoulders, the Faraway sleeve and body and the Lowrider sleeves. If you're not familiar with those patterns, I also have a blog post that explains it on my website ironlamb.co.uk. I'll make a RUclips video for it next week too 😊
I can see doing that at the end of the sleeve before the cuff, but what if your sleeve is very large and you want to taper the sleeves gradually before you get close to the cuff area? By the way, I love your patterns!
I found this very helpful, thank you so much😊
Thanks so much for the video. I couldn't figure it out from the instructions and tried knit rib twice but it was too tight. Luckily I remembered your videos and thankfully there was one in this kind of ribbing. I'm off for 3rd time lucky to finish the hem. Can't wait to wear my jumper!
Thank you!
Thank you, crocheting this as my second ever sweater (your Granny Go Round was my first 😀) and I was a bit lost, having never heard of spike stitches, but this tutorial made it clear. And I'm rocking the Granny Go Round sweater at my workplace in Prague. Thanks!
Great to hear!😁
Great colors. Do you think the sweater could be worn without the neckband or would it stretch out to much?
Hi yes that should work fine. You'll probably need to do a row or two of UK double crochet (US single crochet) around the neckline to finish it off.
Miu bien explicado... La felicito, educar es crecer👍
I'm a bit confused - is the granny go round cardi's ribbed hem decreased in the same way?
Hi yes it uses the same rib stitch, but there are no decreases.
@@Iron_lamb So you finish each fptr & bptr completely as you would with a normal treble (ie pull through completely leaving 1 stitch on the hook before you start the next fptr/bptr)? Hope that makes sense!!! Thank you!
@@jayy7425 Hi yes thats right. Sorry I just re read your question and realised I didnt answer it correctly.. no it doesnt decrease in the same way, and yes, you finish each stitch off as you described above 🙂
@@Iron_lamb Fab, thanks for your help - phew, don't have to unpick!!!! 😅
Very helpful videos ❤❤ try to make more of them.😊
I can’t get this pattern and I crochet a lot why don’t you tell us how to do the whole row with the decreases and middle shaping I’m winging it and it’s not working some of us can’t read patterns and just follow the video I’ve even bought this pattern and still can’t make it as I’ve never understood written patterns and it’s a beautiful cardigan much better than a hexi as the sleeves are nice and thin please at some stage do the whole row showing all the changes in the row please
Hi Jacqui, I'm glad you like the cardigan and I'm so sorry you are struggling with it. Let me just take a minute to explain.. I don't go through the whole pattern in the video, because the Granny Go Round cardigan is a paid written pattern, not a free pattern. Also, as each size is different on each row, it would be a very lengthy video. The purpose of the videos are to clarify only the trickier parts of the written pattern that people may need help with. If you are stuck please drop me an email at ironlambdesigns@gmail.com and I promise I'll get you back on track. I always make sure my customers get support and am happy to draw you a quick diagram if that helps. Kind regards, Claudine
Thank you so much for these great videos. Made my first ever go round granny sweater and love it 🤩☺️
Thank you
Beautiful, love your colors. Thank you for teaching me
Great video. Really helpful 👍 Looking forward to getting started on one of your patterns. It will be my first woolly garment beyond hats and mittens 👍
Thank you for the videos. This really helped me as a new crocheter. I love this pattern! - Kimberly
My first sweater, though I’ve crocheted for five years. I have the printed pattern. Just when I need help, the video says refer to the pattern. I was hoping the video would clarify the pattern. I’m frustrated. 🫤🧶
Hi, I'm sorry you're finding it confusing. If you can drop me an email me at ironlambdesigns@gmail.com I will get you back on track. Be sure to state which size you're making so I can give specific instructions. I can't go through the whole cardigan in the video unfortunately, because it's a paid pattern 😊
I can’t stop mine twist?
Lindo! Inscrita!!!! 💖🇧🇷
There's one thing I'm a little confused about and hoping you have an answer. I have a pattern that uses this stitch and for the tension Swatch it says to do the block treble pattern (which from the diagram is exactly like this you have done) But the bit that is confusing me is it says 21stitches and 9 rows to 10cm on a 4mm hook. Do I count each treble stitch and not the spaces? Or is it count the spaces as 3 treble crochet stitches as in the row above it? Sorry I'm a beginner I've so far only done granny squares and hats and scarves. This Is my first time doing a tension square for this kind of pattern for a jumper.
Hi yes that's right. Usually with granny stitch the tension would give the amount of granny stitch groups in 10cm, but they must have given it in stitches as 21 groups is too many for 10cm, so 21 stitches = 7 granny stitch groups and 9 rows to 10cm. And yes include the spaces between groups in your swatch when measuring ☺️☺️
Ah I was just wondering about this as my pattern states 18 sts and 8 rows to 10 cm so this has hopefully solved my problem. Thank you. Great videos for me as a beginner thanks.
