Consult with our current international office might be the best way. But to my understanding, you used the STEM OPT for your bachelor's even if it wasn't the whole 24 months. Unless you applied for a 9-month extension which nobody really does. So if you're in a middle of first year OPT, the best option is to transition to day1cpt or H1B to continue work.

In terms of rejection, don't switch universities easily, get a written statement from your university to support your academic program choices or cpt if you're using them. I know it's hard but the best option is go again and proactively explain what did go well in your last interview and there's no need for them to doubt this time. Best of luck if this case does happen. 2. Interview waiver, if you are getting F1 for a new school (which also has day 1 cpt), I'm not an expert to speak on this, but I think it might take longer to get the visa, plus you still need to do interview if they request for it. People usually do the interviews.

thank you for responding! I have been hearing a lot of people are automatically eligible for interview waivers for f1 renewal since beginning of this year (i believe). Yes, you are eligible for day 1 cpt, but some universities have their own rules for COS. Some don't take COS students and some will need you to wait for couple months before you can do cpt. If you're talking about OPT, you don't need a paid position to get the OPT EAD card. So yes, if this is your initial opt you can travel with the EAD while having an volunteer job offer.

If you have an active F1 visa, technically there isn't regulation stoping you from entering, but I think they might ask questions, 4 months is not a short time frame so definitely some risk factors to consider. If you're going for F1 stamping also, the 4 months might be hard to explain.

Yes the new school definitely come in crucially, however it cannot do anything if your old school's not releasing your SEVIS. It's until the SEVIS release after you submit the transfer out form, your new school can finally transfer in SEVIS - process and issue I-20 - Process CPT - You start day 1cpt

Technically yes, realistically not likely, the school can only process your CPT I-20 after receiving your SEVIS. if they have your SEVIS by Friday, they need couple days to 1-2 weeks to process, depending on the school and its volume.

This can get technical with the timeline. I would not advice to withdraw in the middle of a semester, even though you don't need a CPT for work anymore after H1B activated. I personally think is safer to at least finish the current semester.

Once OPT completed, you have 60 days of grace period to stay in the US while the previous school still holds your active SEVIS. However, when you leave the US during the grace period, your school might terminate your SEVIS. The best action for now is to reach out to the international department to ask if you still have an active SEVIS with them and you want to transfer out. You do have to secure an admission for SEVIS transfer though, as the first step mentioned in the video.

Choose the university within the same state of your residence, prepare reason statement of why this program specifically is your best option for education and career advancement. Keep records of on-campus attendance. Even if encountering an RFE, yourself and the school's RFE program(international department) should be able to provide all documents necessary.

Yes, you can still transfer your SEVIS after OPT ends, the grace period is indeed 60 days. But talk to your OPT school DSO to arrange the date first, they might not guarantee a date to you.

That's correct, for the professional format, if you live 50 miles away from campus, the onsite is once every semester. (one weekend)

Depending on the programs. But for majority, yes you can change jobs and apply for a different cpt authorization. When you got laid off, most universities let you remain to be a student for a period of time until you find another job. That could be ranging from 3 months to several semesters.
