Oh Varre. You can still go to Mohgwyn Palace after getting to the Consecrated Snowfield, but that's pretty late into the game. The difference between having the sword at +9 and +10 really isn't all that much so don't worry about.

What calculations are you talking about? Also the leveling guide timestamp shows the recommended stats at 200. If you’re going past that then you can get Faith, Strength, and Dex to 80, and any leftover points you can put wherever you want like endurance or mind as needed. Also I saw your earlier comment about doing jump attacks and I assume you deleted that when you got to the point in the video where I talk about switching the talismans up as needed. For the record, you definitely want to keep the Prosthesis and Winged Sword Insignia equipped no matter what, and you can change one of the other talismans to whatever you want, like the Claw Talisman.

That's a great question! I have no clue! It was probably just an oversight on my part. It's also possible that because the build only has 40 Vigor that my thinking at the time was "the extra damage taken isn't worth it at 40 vig," but chances are I just overlooked it. Good suggestion though!

@@realmshifter9102 For bullet ashes of war, all affinities do in fact use this mechanic. The scaling for Heavy and Keen bullets is weird, but every bullet ash does have a preferred stat/affinity. For example, Ice Spear scales with Int and Dex, because that’s what the Cold affinity wants. However, you actually get the best damage out of it by putting it on a Keen weapon, because the singular Dex scaling from Keen ends up being way higher than the combined Int/Dex scaling from Cold. @@smokeyninja2530 Generally Vagabond is the best but if you want a headstart with using some Faith stuff, you can go Confessor or Prophet. I would go with Vagabond.

I said "basically" cosmetic. Armor does help, obviously, but it's not nearly as important as Vigor. I tell people it's cosmetic because it's not worth leveling Endurance to wear heavy armor sets, when you can level Vigor instead. So many noobs dump mad points into Endurance and completely neglect Vigor because they are actually receiving misinformation when they watch shitty guides that emphasize Endurance and armor, and don't bother with Vigor, and then they wonder why everything still one shots them when they have 35% negations and 500 hp. Assuming you're around level 125-150 (ie at a level range where your stat distribution matters, instead of being overleveled and being able to do anything), you can put 50 points into Endurance to be able to wear full Bull Goat's and have a whopping ~35% average damage negation, which is only about 10% more than the Knight set which you can easily wear at 15-20 Endurance. So you're spending a ton of extra points into End for a very small increase to your effective hp. OR You can bring Vigor to 40 and have 300% more hp than at 10, or bring it up to 60 and have 30% more hp than at 40. And still be wearing that Knight set for ~20% damage negation. It's way, WAY more efficient to focus on leveling Vigor instead. And once you have 40-60 Vigor, instead of dumping points into Endurance for a paltry damage negation gain, you can put those points into your damage stats instead and get way more value out of that. Then, if you still want to be more tanky, use buffs, talismans, and consumables to increase your damage negation, which is again WAY more efficient than dumping points into Endurance: - Golden Vow: 10% all negation bonus from incant, or 7.5% from ash of war - Boiled Crab: 20% physical negation - Opaline Hardtear: 15% all negations - Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman: 20% physical negation - Endure: 45% to all negations for like 3 seconds, but easy to use as needed - Braggart's Roar aow: I believe this is like a 10-12% negation increase You can swap these out as needed based on what you're fighting, so if it's a boss doing magic damage then you can use Magicproof Livers and the Spelldrake Talisman instead of Crab and Dragoncrest. Without Endure and Braggart's Roar, a setup like this will get you around 50-60% damage negation WITHOUT factoring in armor. Add the Knight set and it's more like 60-65%. Or you can go Bull Goat's and have it be like 70%, which ain't much, and DEFINITELY ain't worth dumping points into Endurance for. Armor can _help_ but it's not NEARLY as much as people think it is. Now armor that provides buffs, like the Rakshasa set or White Mask or whatever, can be a lot more useful and worth considering, and fortunately very few of those are heavy enough to require significant investment into Endurance.

I mean I got a pretty good deal for them, it was only $10 per million runes. $100 is pretty cheap for that many runes!

@@user-gz8hr6lp5p Technically yeah, it’ll get higher damage on Heavy affinity when two-handing at the Str softcap. The problem is that there are significantly better choices of greatsword for the Heavy affinity. For example, the Iron Greatsword with Heavy affinity at 80 str/10 dex will get 724 AR 1h, or 776 AR 2h. The Keen Iron Greatsword at 18 str/80 dex will get 695 AR 1h, or 705 AR 2h. The Flamberge does perform better at high levels on a Str build than a Dex build… but if you’re a Str build then why would you use the Flamberge and not the Iron Greatsword? And yeah Iron Greatsword gets 8 more AR when 2h on Keen, but is 8 points of damage worth the 20% weight increase over the Flamberge? I don’t think so, I’d rather just use the Flamberge and get more bang for my buck if I’m a Dex build. Admittedly there are better options than the Flamberge for a Dex build, like the Lizard Greatsword or the Knight’s Greatsword, but those will also technically get higher AR with high Str and Heavy affinity, as does pretty much every weapon in the game. But is *every single weapon in the game* a Str weapon because under the right circumstances it can get higher AR like that? No, of course not. The context in which you’re using it matters. If I’m a Str build then I don’t _use_ the Flamberge in the first place, I use something like the Iron Greatsword or the Bastard Sword instead. If I’m a Dex build, I’m not gonna bring Str to 18 for one sword, I’m gonna use the one that’s more efficient on my build. With all that said, you don’t *have* to minmax your builds. Sometimes you just wanna use the wavy sword cuz it looks cool, so go for it, use it however you want. This video is just concerned about the optimal ways to use this particular sword, and that’s on Dex or Arcane builds.

Those Banished Knights have high resistance to hitstun, you shouldn't try to just blast them from right in their faces. Dodge an attack combo and then hit them during their punish windows, like any other enemy. As for Godskin Duo, hit em with a jump attack or two, then Nebula. Sleep pots are also really good against them because they're weak to sleep, so you can put them to sleep, jump attack twice, then Nebula and they'll be dead before they finish waking up.

@@rowrowboat5948 The only circumstances I can see where it would be the best choice would be if: A. You’re a low level, so the better stat scaling from Heavy/Keen/Quality doesn’t make up for the reduced base damage B. You’re a pure Int/Faith/Arc build and you need a weapon that does pure physical damage. Again, you don’t have enough Str/Dex to make the other physical affinities worthwhile Or C. You just have a bad build lol Standard weapons are definitely useful and will get the job done, but they’re rarely gonna be your best option beyond the very early game. Is there any particular reason you ask? Also keep in mind that “Standard affinity” doesn’t apply to Somber weapons like the Bloodhound’s Fang or whatever. You can’t put affinities on them at all so you choose/use them based on the scaling they get.

@@DIABETOR I see. I wanted to figure out a way to make standard affinity really good. So are you saying increasing the stats for str/dex doesn’t increase the damage too much on standard affinity? Could I use standard affinity and level up any stat except str/dex then use resins to buff, would that work out fine? It seems to me standard affinity doesn’t increase damage that much to use it. To compensate damage I could level up other stats like int or faith to use spells or buff. Standard seems like it’s weak on purpose.

@rowrowboat5948 You would be better off choosing the affinity that scales with your stats. If you want elemental damage then instead of using greases, just infuse the weapon with that element. Or if you really want versatility then you’d still be better off using something like Heavy, Keen, or Quality and buffing that with greases. Standard is just not meant to be used past the start of the game, really.

EDIT: Actually I already have a leveling guide in this video’s description, so look at that! Really the main thing that matters is getting 40 Vigor, and then you can just build the build over time as you play and keep levelling up. I’d probably do 40 Vig, 15 End, 20 Str, and then put the rest of the points into Dex. Then for the next few levels you can get 15 Faith for a couple of the buffs, and then level the rest of the stats up in whatever order you desire. Also for the talismans, the build is linked in the description and in the talisman inventory it has a bunch of talismans you can get early, in case you can’t get like Shard of Alexander right now for example, so check that out too.

@DIABETOR in those 12 hours since I watched this vid I've got to lvl 120, for some reason Alexander isn't where he's supposed to be as he was at rhadan battle spoke to him till his dialog was done even got the oil pot ready just can't find him anywhere

@@stonerbtw The meeting with him in Liurnia is optional, he's probably already moved to the lava pool over by Fort Laiedd in Mt. Gelmir.
