Low efficiency isn’t a problem if it can be incorporated to capture ambient and wasted energy. I’ve thought about these for years and have some cool ideas for integration.

Right except that they are HIGHLY inefficient and it's just another part to fail. They will not combat climate change. Climate change is none of our business. It's gonna happen and the earth will correct it plain and simple

I’m building code that uses LoRaWAN and switches between 3 different satelites for global connection and off the grid use as well and also has an AI to help with a friendly user interface, I coded it for up to 100km of range on LoRaWAN but I’m not 100% sure if the range would actually go that far hahahaha, I haven’t tested the code out yet but I’ll get around to it, just hoping everything I’ve coded works as intended and if it’s cheap for me to build I might consider making the code open source

This task is a large chunk to byte for the fpga community… the intermediate steps would be DSPs, correlations, probability estimations and linear fittings (in multiple dimensions) in FPGA… then the engineering community would be ready to make a learning NN in FPGA. It is not as simple as converting the c code to vhdl

The thing I really hate about ewaste recovery is that its a good idea! Salvaging functional parts to prevent them from being in landfill is a good thing. The problem comes from selling the salvage as new not as salvage.

Have a bunch of them. Aliexpress, temu and other sites are selling them at large. Wrong capacity capacitors, lied about battery capacity or even filled with sand. China lie about anything just to sell things.

Got the ArtyS7-50 working on Ubuntu 22.04 with only one hiccup: when attempting to connect the FPGA to Vivado, I got the following error message: "Unable to launch local cs_server exectuable. /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2024.1/bin/unwrapped/lnx64.o/cs_server: error while loading shared libraries: libz.so.1: failed to map segment from shared object child exit status 32512" I fixed it by making the /tmp file executable: `sudo mount /tmp -o remount,exec`

Most of that new e waste today isn’t even outdated tech, it’s stuff like li-ion cells, pcbs and other electrical components. I reckon in the US we make about 35,000,000 dead disposable vapes a day. Each contains a reusable, rechargeable, battery and pcb, I do t know what it could be reapplied to, but I’m working on a pretty cool idea…

Thank you. I learned a lot from your video, but this ATMEL ICE thing is very expensive. I search further, it seems that I can use an FTDI USB-to-serial also, and will go that route.

Man made climate change is a hoax.

I'm not aganist that as much as I am bemused. I have to "conserve power" at the amount of single digit watts through these regulations, however at the same time there is a huge push towards heating homes with electricity (heat-pumps) and driving electric cars. I am reconstructing my house and going from fireplace heating to heat-pump has made my power consumption go up anything from 5-10 times (depends on outside temperature, of course)! My heatpump takes about 8000 watts at maximum. And now they try to "fix" it by making couple devices consume few watts less power? If I were to buy an electric car, it's going to be even worse. In addition - there are also issues with losses of power on electric grid side. I am certain, that those losses are way higher than what ever is going to be my "win" through these methods. I would like to see more of such approach, where it would be very easy to switch power entirely off on devices. It would (hopefully) have some good side-effects too, like - you know that a device can't spy on you if it has no power. But even at very low level it hopefully has similar effect.
