lovely :)
Rather fittingly, "Hither Shore" or "Near Shore" (Pali _ôra-tîra-_ or _ôrima-tîra-_ ) is also a Buddhist term used of the material world.
love it
Fighting the long defeat
Is this a prayer to Irmo, I wonder?
Magical. Shared with a hardcore Celt--friend of mine.
A gem, truly. Thanks, Margaret.
Haunting. It gives me shivers, and I love it!
Not gonna lie, this doesn't sound much like someone separated from their home for thousands of years... Beautiful voice but it's not sad enough.
But here she had her realm, lover and family, some achivements, while home she is just remebered as an ex-rebel. So it is a more mixed balanced attitude.
Mine is better, it actually sounds sad
So beautiful!
No words are worthy to describe this song's beauty
Magnifique
15 sons of feanor no like
Beautiful music to soothe the soul. I love the LOTR and Hobbit movie music.
Very nice indeed and very wonderful words with harp music.
How unusual! I usually hear this song in Quenya. Beautiful though. I really like Galadriel's backstory too. <3
Galadriel was separated from her dad Finarfin and mom Earwen for over seven and a half thousand years; First Age-590 years, Second Age-3441 years, Third Age-3021 years=total 7052 years ._. And her brothers Finrod, Orodreth, Angrod, and Aegnor all died in the First Age so most of that time she was all alone T_T
C Pegg She was given a chance to return after the First Age though, but according to the story she was too proud still to accept the pardon of the Valar. By the time Galadriel went back to Eldamar, I suppose her brothers were probably re-embodied, so they were all one big happy family again! :)
+C Pegg Well done, C.
+C Pegg She had Celeborn :)
And she still held it together long enough to deny Feanor the light of her hair, AND lay open the pits of Dol Goldur. Absolutely love her character.
And she then gifted three strands of hair to Gimli, a Dwarf, millennia later; how furious Feanor would've been if he knew about that lol
Did no one else notice that the author of "Mists of Avalon" the best Authurian novel ever written, composed the music to this? I had no idea Miss Bradley composed music!
I did not! For a moment I thought it was someone related to Hans Zimmer :| I feel stupid.
You're not stupid. Vinay Keerthi K T because that's what I thought too after listening to it... it's very different music indeed.
I had always imagined Galadriels voice to be like an Angels--now I know better.
Her voice are the voice of a Goddess. I am always filled with joy and happiness listening to Galadriel.
Try listening to the ones done by the tolkien ensemble. Part I II and III on spotify
@@Makkaru112 I thought those were too much, way too much. It's like an opera song.
Why? Why isn't this on Spotify?!
beautiful.love it..
Beautiful.
Three people are Orcs. Seriously, how can you give this a thumbs-down?
Hello
And orcs created rings of power and one of them is named galadriel its tragic
So am I! And she also didn't participate in the Kinslaying so she can go back to Aman more easily and we can like her :)
Not just Atariels choice to join in on this adventure when she was young... the whole scene around her also changed her story.. but on a higher view of things and the threads of fate and all those things were set for her so she might have escaped death in the kinslaying.. SO I cam very glad she didn't perish.
Elenwe was the wife of Turgon; Amarie was the betrothed of Finrod and she stayed behind in Valinor like a sensible Elf. :) But yes, the whole thing was so incredibly terrible and epic! Tolkien is a genius <3
But I also heard tat Amarie also died in the same way.. >> she was a wife to someone like Turgon.. But who knows.. we probably got some names wrong.. ;p But yeah.. It was quite an event.... Elfkind were spilling their own blood before anyone else did.
Actually, the house of Finarfin arrived late to the Kinslaying and never participated... and I think you're thinking of Elenwe, the wife of Turgon (who may have been at the Kinslaying if the women and children accompanied the men to get the ships... which would stink; she survived a Kinslaying to get the ships and then died on the Grinding Ice because she couldn't sail on them!)
Arrived late, and decided to be a lickspittle of the Valar, instead of taking revenge for his father.
@@RichardLeslieWhereat That's not how Eru's vision worked.
@@RobertLocksley385 I know. In Eru's vision, the Valar were not cowardly, and did not take the Quendi to Aman. The Quendi were to have remained in arda.
She was young and eager in some way and not perfect. So I guess in a way things lead up to her sort of showing her allegiance and ecru in a way spared her. And also could be that the moment she left on that ship from valinor and those who stole the ship and shed the first elven blood... she was sort of fated to go there. not to mention stay there after her peoples crimes. but then she was permitted back which was so lovely.
Yes.. These elves were swayed by melkor. and one of the kings sons went and gathered what would follow him to go after the silmarils and the owners of the ships and which belonged to those certain people would not want to give it up. and amazing how she was in that frey and didnt die.. But Amarie died...Either on the walkway where galadriel ended up walking..The large immence thing of razor like ice. miles and miiiiiles to the shore of middle earth.
That's hilarious- Gimli hates trees at first...
In Valinor, the Undying Lands the Elves sail to, dwell the Valar, the fourteen Powers of Arda (the Earth). Irmo is the Vala of Dreams, and he tends the Gardens of Lorien where rest and healing can be found. Galadriel is from Valinor- she fled with a vast host of Elves seeking realms, adventure, and revenge on Morgoth, the Lord of Sauron himself- and she, I would imagine, tried to model her nearly-timeless, peaceful Lothlorien ("dreamflower", "loth"- "flower") on the Lorien of her youth.
Heh. Dont we all. Also. Lothlorien is supposed to be in a sort of image of Lorien where Lorien dwells... Much more ancient... And something abour the name Irmo... which I forgot a bit of... but yeah. It's wonderfuls. If you like.. I can share the tolkien inspires done by other youtubers.
I don't really think this kind of evangelising works but you are, of course, completely correct.
Look up the song The Eldar by Blind Guardian if you want to hear another amzing song based on Tolkien's works.
I believe the speaker in that song is Finrod; Galadriel's brother
Here's an idea: accept Christ, have faith and live a good life. What makes Elves appealing is their holiness. There is plenty of that in Heaven.
loreena mckennitt did most of mists of avalon
I just realized that the composer is Marion Zimmer Bradley, the writer of "Mists of Avalon"! OMG, I really love the music in the movie Mists of Avalon.
And he voices Treebeard, which is very fitting.
This is what I love about Tolkien. This poem bears a striking resemblance to Namárië but is different nonetheless. I think he took the same idea and motives and wrote the poem twice. Once in english and once in quenya. That's amazing to me.
So sad I don't live in Lórien...
I agree!!!
listening over and over and over again, no other music needed.
The world Tolkien created is so beautiful, an abosolute masterpiece.
Anybody know what that instrument is she's playing in the first minute of the song? I would guess like a synth of some kind, but... Anybody?
