    I Lived in this house as a child ! My father, Billy Cotter, was an engineer with the land commission and when it was disbanded he sold Quarry House to Major Turner and we moved to Dublin! I have photos of the house when we lived there. It was a great house then

      Thanks for that Sighle. I'd appreciate any additional information that you'd be willing to share. Surprisingly, many natives think that the House has been knocked, such is the level of camouflage from the vegetation. You cannot see it from the new Dublin Road (which wasn't there in your time), but it's there. I still ask about Major Turner, but few natives have clear detail anymore.

Email admin (at) castlegar-galway.org www.castlegar-galway.org/doughiska-galway Turner's was in the Parish, when I was young, and recall it as painted Yellow? This must have been circa late '70's and wasn't burned at that time, and Turner was supposed to be resident. I never saw him. There was an Apple Orchard then, that I heard of, but never saw either. Other Natives however,, have expressed some self-service to those Apples. So my interest is not personal, but general. And do appreciate what you've said so far in that my assumption was that Turner was there as a successor to that Property. That, was obviously wrong. If you wish to share something, full Credit (within reason, and if you wish it), will be given to you. It's just that, as a child, that House was the biggest / most visible, and most Yellow, that I could see while training on the Hurling Pitches across from that House. Today, it takes effort, to find it, while many believe that it is not even there anymore?

The balcony along the full length of the house was wooden but I think the maintenance was too much for the Major and so it became concrete, a pity! The front garden had a fountain in the centre which my father got to work! He sold apples to Hollands in Galway and we had a great big searchlight as there were often people ' helping themselves' ! There was a cottage near the house at ground level where a family lived for a while and after we stored apples there. WE had around 3 acres of orchard ! I will look for some photos and post them here.

Not surprised considering humans have been multiplying x 2 every few decades & burning fuel & producing CO 2 by quantity...... Unfortunately most people don't understand basic chemistry.... Hopefully projected reduction in human population in developed countries will result in CO 2 reduction in 100 years or so.... Too little too late probably!

    This climate change crap is like the fake eroding of the Ozone Layer which was pushed about 30 years ago, remember Neil Young, "we have styrofoam cups for the ozone layer." Further investigation showed the Ozone Layer thins at one pole EVERY year according to the position of earth in relationship to the sun, then the other pole thins 6 months later. Rinse and repeat annually. The ozone isn't depleting it is simply shifting. People who do not have a love for the God of the Bible and his loving salvation of mankind must have a crusade. Whether it is being deceived into believing they shall "save the planet" or whatever is the cause du jour. They want a moral high ground to feel as if their efforts shall somehow endear them to a Holy God or Higher power. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can save man from sin, bring peace and joy by repenting of sin and lies and them accepting God's gift of love: Jesus Christ.

    Anyone who has opened a warm can of beer or soda on a summer's day knows that CO2 outgasses from a warm liquid and is absorbed when it is cold. That's why atmospheric levels of CO2 increase only after there is a rise in temperature. There is a big difference between correlation and causation.

    • @cyberneticbutterfly8506
      @cyberneticbutterfly8506 2 года назад

      I don't recall there being any measures suggested as it wasn't claimed to be man made. If there is no emission to cut then what were the measures suggested? Also I don't recall it being claimed to be in the near future but rather that we hadn't had it for a while and were overdue for a new one. It'd still be as all other ice ages, slowly phased in. What I *DO* remember is those movies and *tabloid science* magazines making bold claims. That's not the equivalent of "science" making those claims. It *IS* the equivalent of those crackpot clickbait RUclips videos with "new sea monster found ITS SO SCARY" etc. As I recall, science as a whole were simply making the observation of us being overdue [for an ice age].

  • @nathanielknight1838
    @nathanielknight1838 2 года назад

    well, sun rays go in aka warmth / energy and when you have too many gases floating around, the sun reflects back from those gases to earth more and more making it more and more warm. That's why it's called a greenhouse effect because the gases keep the warmth in. You either have to reduce the amount of gas to allow warmth to disperse or you have to add some aerosols that block the sun from coming in as much. Just increasing problematic gases just makes shit more warm where it's already warm and that leads to catastrophe eventually. Ofc a gigantic volcanic eruption can cause such emissions in the air but what's more controllable and we can actually influence are the gases we emit with our production. Some geniuses claim that water vapor is a bigger factor for global warming. Those people fail to grasp that the water vapor in our air is what makes the climate as it should be / normally is. Adding more gas cycles adding more vapors and moving them around more resulting in more heavy weather phenomena that we've seen. The air being too hot to allow rain clouds to form is why we have issues with dying lands and crops. Other geniuses talk about the Ozon layer and how that stopped being a thing. Yes, because we stopped using the stuff that broke it for the most part. We actually went ahead and fixed that. That's why it's no longer an issue. It didn't fix itself. We also stopped using asbestos btw, that's why that's much less of an issue. We stopped doing a lot of stupid things. Are some of the predictions overblown? Sure. We won't be dead in 20 years. But will live be less and less sustainable in already hot countries and we'll see a mass exodus from these nations due to crops dying etc? Yes. And where will they go? To your great climates in northern europe and the US / Canada.

    The climate of any location on earth, is near exclusively, a product of it’s proximity over time to our sun. The solar radiation that penetrates our atmosphere, creates different weather conditions for a particular on earth over time that result in a pattern that we refer to as a climate. This is as simplified as possible for those who have trouble understanding Earth’s climates.
