@@roadsideservice6720 i do roadside assistance and also am a mobile mechanic in oregon as was wondering what light bar you recommend for that im looking for like being visible on i-5 from a distance

@@nichalasroebuck290 If you are in the market for a used bar I would get a Whelen Liberty SX. They are older and have tons of parts on the market. If you are looking for something new, do not buy a light bar. I strongly recommend you get a traffic advisor. Most times we need rear facing warning lights, a TA is cheaper and easier to replace if damaged.

Paranoid? As in somebody mistaking my truck for a Law Enforcement vehicle? No Yellow E plates, I had passenger vehicle plates. No spot lights, as most Law Enforcement vehicles have. No push bumper or "Ram" bumper. No "POLICE" graphics, K-9 unit, "Dial 911" stickers. The only graphics used was on the back window, and "Roadside Service" magnets printed in Orange on the doors while I was working. And the "Uniform" I used everyday was quite simple. Black boots, Navy Blue cargo pants, Orange T shirt, Hi-Vis vest on top for Highway use and a Hi-Vis ball cap. I did NOT carry a duty belt, no radio, no taser or anything I didn't need for my job. The reason i used the lights I did was simple. I trade and sell used lights. I already owned these. Moreover, I felt it was more sketchy to use "Undercover" or "Unmarked" lights. The ones you just have inside the windows. I hope you don't think I made my truck look this way for sketchy reasons. that wasn't my intention.

Don't front, people go slow for that particular reason all the time right? I'm assuming that's why you had the lengthy explanation on hand.

@@chrisjolliffe7225 The video was posted based on demand. I received several messages asking what lights and colors I used. I feel when people are better informed, they understand better and can make better choices for themselves. Now I'm not saying people didn't drive slower around me at times. That was a common thing. However to see the truck while I was working, I cannot see how anybody could mistake it for a LEO. Amber lights, Orange decals, guy in Hi-Vis changing a tire.....

@@chrisjolliffe7225 you’d have to be crazy to think this is a cop car 😂. I’ve never seen a police car be painted a solid color without any decals unless it was an unmarked car, but unmarked cars wouldn’t rock a light bar on top. Not to mention the lack of sirens, blue lights, Ram bar, etc……also, the big roadside assistance sign in the back kinda gives it away 😂

If you are referring to the warning lights, mounted either inside the windows or on the roof, they are legal to the public. Amber (yellow) is legal for any vehicle of any size to use. Red is legal on "Emergency" vehicles. Police, Fire, EMS, DOT and Tow Vehicles. Blue is restricted to Law Enforcement vehicles and publicly owned Fire and EMS vehicles. No permits or licensing is needed to equip lights in or on any vehicle, so long as they do not break the law. My truck is defined as a "Tow Vehicle" by ORS 801.530 and grants me the use of Red lights by ORS 816.280 If you have a need for lights to be installed, reach out to rapid.upfitter@gmail.com

@Selena Carpenter As everybody should know, you are required to use the DMV to register your vehicles. This truck was owned by me, and my service was filed as a DBA in Oregon. So the business was my name, and the truck was owned by me as well. Didn't have to register it to a business. And because I used the truck 50% of the time for work and 50% of the time for personal use, I kept the passenger vehicle plates. If I only used this truck for work, I would have registered it as a Tow Vehicle, and got the Yellow TW plates Oregon issues to Tow Vehicles. Hopefully this helps.

The Whelen Liberty SX has been a great tool for private and public works for years! We LOVE this bar! You can change out ANY module that needs repairs/ replacement. The TD and Alley functions can be upgraded to SUPER LED from Halogen, and every set of LED's can be pattern changed. The only down side to this bar is it is old. Now there is a Whelen Liberty 2, 1/4 inch taller, brighter. However there are TONS of parts online. You want one? BUY ONE!!!!!

What kind of question is that Whelen is the best top tier quality stuff, they are leading brand in warning emergency lights
