Back in the 80s I got into Dokken for the sound of the guitar, not the lyrics. I feel Don should be very thankful for George. I do not think they would be as popular if not for George. Nobody wanted do be Don from what I remember.

The jab @ Vince Neil (@6:40) for doing VERY minimal jail time was not wrong..!! As much as I had loved Crue back in the day and (because I was a young kid who was not really mature yet as well as selfish) I would have been sad if Vince had to do REAL jail time, it was still deserved.. he should have gotten more than the silly slap on the wrist (I may be wrong, but I think he only did less than a month in jail.!!) and fine he got..!!! Not only did he kill Razzle, he forever ruined the lives of the 2 other kids in the car they had hit..!!! ...what is really crazy is Vince had gotten another DWI years later..!! Jeez...I could Never understand how stupid and disrespectful you could be after being given such a second chance with no real punishment or consequences for such a horrible act the first time..!!

Don doesn’t get it. The magic was the original lineup and he never passes a chance to knock it. Dokken would have never made it without George, Jeff and Mick. There was a real chemistry there, an amazing rhythm section. What he’s doing right now is equivalent to a bad solo career. Nobody’s interested, and his unique voice is gone. He can’t sing, and he stands on stage like a tree. It’s like Weekend at Bernie’s doing karaoke. If he really cared about the fans, he would do a farewell tour with the original lineup and then stick a fork in it. At least do something that people want to see. Finally, Mick did give an interview, he indicated the reason he quit was because Don was too cheap to hire a roadie and he got sick of tearing down and setting up his kit every night. He also mentioned that he didn’t play on the last 2 albums because Don didn’t want to fly him out to LA. He felt like a hired gun and he was sick of the lack of respect.

I shook his hand and got his autograph in 1977 ( ish ) waiting out the front of the hotel where the band stayed in Adelaide . I was 15 years old. Same year I got one of Johns sticks after the concert. Had his name on it. Unfortunately gone now. Only two people from my youth who would have stolen it. I played in bands with both. Ones passed now and the other had his own demons. Life. 🙂

I know what Don is going through in a way because my situation is similar but different so let me explain I'm recovering from wrist drop that's when you sleep wrong and it causes nerve damage but it will heal but it takes 3 to 4 months and it sucks, one day I woke up at 4:30 am and practice my guitar and has a good practice so I decided to record some stuff for my sister and friends then I took a break did some yard work and barbecued my dinner early and I was getting tired so I recharged my battery with a nap and 30 minutes later my hand was numb and I that in a few minutes it would be fine well that turned into 30 60 and 90 minutes later nothing changed my arm was numb like I was having a stroke I go into ER they ran test then told me what was going on, ok then what they told me how long ,so I understand what Don's going in a way but it fkn sucks it was my left hand the fret hand so if you read the Don there's a brace to help I need surgery on my back but not going to get it now my wife had a similar surgery and she's stuck on the couch she can't do shit she is lazy but now she's got an excuse 😅 but try that brace the injury is called wrist drop RUclips has videos from doctors that are on that issue so take care Don I can see the pain in your eyes you've been on of my favorite singers but taking a man's guitar that's fkd. I'd say it differently but I don't want to get kicked off you tube again take care Don I'll be ROCKIN WITH DOKKEN ALWAYS

Thank you for this great interview with Clem Clempson. Being a huge Marriott fan, I have read his 3 biographies, plus the memoirs of Frampton, Shirley, Kenney Jones & Ian MacLagan. Clem & Greg Ridley strories were missed. Sadly we will never hear from Greg, but it was a delight to hear Clem's side of the story. Since I am a lover of blues/rock, i always felt Clem's playing was as good if not preferable to Peter's - though I do greatly admire Peter. My favorite Humble Pie song (from Smokin) with Clem's unbelievable soulful solo is "I Wonder". Just beautiful. I do enjoy hearing and reading rock history, especially 1965-1975 British rock as I feel this was almost a Renaissance time of music, such an explosion of talent. I have subscribed and look forward to more classic rock stories .

As I left - a Silver Bentley pulled into the driveway & Jerry + Greg Ridley emerged - both grinning & wearing full lenght coats & floppy hats - Lol ! Jerry said to me " Is Angus home" ?
