Was a great show loved it
I wish I could find more information on the history of this song. I find it so fascinating, and slightly sad
Roger Jose was my Great Grand Uncle. David Attenborough did a documentary on him and others in 1963 called Quest Under Capricorn - Hermits of Borroloola. Andrew Denton then did an interview with Ted Egan who told him about the story of Roger Jose. Roger used his mother's maiden name as his surname. His real full name was James Arthur Edison Hudson (1896 - 1963)
I have the transcript.
Can you add Jim McGuire rodeo australia album please
Another great song
Top song
Haven't heard this for ages!
Another great song!
Love that song and the whole album especially Jim mcguire the iron man of rodeo
Ted singing this song always cheers me up, he is such a good entertainer, I was very lucky, I was staying in The Alice for a couple of days about 25 years ago and I was introduced to Ted and his lovely Welsh wife, I joined them at their table. Back home now in Bournemouth UK, love your singing Ted, I first heard you singing on a Cassette being played when I was being driven by a guy called Lance Peach on a day trip to the Tablelands in Far North, I think he used to have the Tennants Creek Pub, I could be wrong though.
Awesome
This is Aussie humor at its best, clean funny and the scripts were brilliant.
nice to hear jim mcguire and jim dix there both from my hometown taroom jim dix is still going jim mcguires buried in taroom
Wow..this back memories..very fond ones..when we used our imagination to listen to a story..
I remember listening to this on the radio with mum and dad the funniest one to me is when they were trying to sell the school couldn't stop laughing great memories
Loved listening to these when i was a young girl with my dad in the car, cherished memories
yes love you are so right
What a great series this was. I would love to have them all recorded.
I hAVE them on CD!
@@SirAzalot very cool. I wonder if they are still available from somewhere? Are you going to list any more on your channel? They are great to listen to. I also remember a radio serial about the early Cobb and Co days. I always enjoyed hearing it in the car back in the 1970’s and early 1980’s
I saw Ted in concert in Alice Springs. Best evening ever!
Fantastic!!!
Great stuff, what episode is this?
Original Episode 472 Gibson number 291 (Some edisodes had two numbers).
Why make jokes? Why make jokes about parts of speech when you can well identify at least 8 of them? (re:articles)
Who knows his manhood's strength, Yet still his female feebleness maintains; As to one channel flow the many drains, All come to him, yea, all beneath the sky. Thus he the constant excellence retains; The simple child again, free from all stains. Who knows how white attracts, Yet always keeps himself within black's shade, The pattern of humility displayed, Displayed in view of all beneath the sky; He in the unchanging excellence arrayed, Endless return to man's first state has made. Who knows how glory shines, Yet loves disgrace, nor e'er for it is pale; Behold his presence in a spacious vale, To which men come from all beneath the sky. The unchanging excellence completes its tale; The simple infant man in him we hail. The unwrought material, when divided and distributed, forms vessels. The sage, when employed, becomes the Head of all the Officers (of government); and in his greatest regulations he employs no violent measures.
Of course, Heath should have gone from Pisces to Libra, not Pisces to Aries. I go Scorpio to Aquarius.

I remember this episode, and I absolutely love all those pictures of radios, my mother had the Sanyo portable stereo you show at 3:07, I spent hours listening to that growing up, it had very good recording capabilities.
Good one granpops!

I grew up with this , no TV but good radio so good..
Good old ted
Splendid!
It's great to hear this song again. Ted and my husband Rick worked together in the Territory and my husband knew and spoke fondly of quite a number of the drinkers mentioned in this song. Thanks Ted - a double bundy to you!
Heard this once 45 years ago and never forgot it. Great to hear it again.
Now can anyone find grandma browns song...'Down on the Daly River'?.. I last heard this sung by Mal Letts, son of Gough Letts on a bus full of rugby players in the mid 80s??
WTF... i grew up with this and now I can hear it again... love youtube....
Amen.
had this song on a cassette and wore it out years ago,you bloody bottler, your a real sport and no error, smiley. Gunner play this to the kangaroos come home.
I have a lot of respect for Ted... in so many ways... but this 'song'... isnt authentic... the chorus is... and I probably should be grateful. He is and was.... an authentic aussie.... but this song has lyrics post chorus... Ted missed them all... sad but true....cheers...
Besides you, who cares?
Ted Egan is a legend
