Tokyo's Epic Evolution: a City on The Rise - Japan History Documentary
Tokyo's rise to prominence has been marked by rapid economic growth, rebuilding after destruction, and a growing population:
Economic growth
Tokyo's rapid economic growth was halted by the 1973 Oil Crisis, but the city experienced a resurgence in the 1980s. This was due to the city's increasing global economic activity and the emergence of the information society.
Rebuilding after destruction
Tokyo has risen from the ashes twice, after an earthquake and a series of bombings. The city was almost completely destroyed both times.
Growing population
Tokyo has seen a huge increase in housing demand over the past few decades, with a large portion of Japan moving there.

China has a “stunning lead” in 37 out of 44 critical and emerging technologies as Western democracies lose a global competition for research output, a security think tank said on Thursday after tracking defence, space, energy and biotechnology. The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) said its study showed that, in some fields, all of the world’s top 10 research institutions are based in China. The study, funded by the United States State Department, found the United States was often second-ranked, although it led global research in high-performance computing, quantum computing, small satellites and vaccines. Its funny anyone thinks Japan is cutting edge when they have been quite stagnant for 10-20 years. That is the downfall of Japan, their rigidness and refusal to adapt new technologies. They STILL use fax machines like we're still in the 80s.

"They are known for making products that last a lifetime." Here's where the China's products get its chinesium reputation. The entire world have been taking for granted about the longevity of Japan products that they are taken aback at how shot lived China ptoducts are. My experience with Japan and China products can be summarize as follow : Japan cars when left on driveway for a year under sun and rain, it will show some rust. China cars when kept inside garage, will show rust within a week, and it will go all over by a month, every month a component or two will come loose for no apparent reasons.

When is the last time you bought anything made in Japan? I honestly can't remember. Everything now a days is made in China, you want quality? Pay for it. Anker is the BEST example of something high quality that lasts a long time, I still regularly use my 20k powerbank that I bought almost a decade ago. Also you're just straight up lying about the comparison of cars. China only recently started making high quality EVs that are higher quality than others which is why they're dominating. Lmao you're a westerner talking about Chinese cars as if your country even allows you to own them 🤣

They ain't coming to the panhandle, cuz wages and economy here are beyond shitty. Can't even make 20 bucks an hour for master carpentry work or aluminum welding/fabrication, but a run down studio apartment in the hood where shootings and meth run rampant will cost you 1800 a month, no bills paid. EDIT: this video is a total lie, do not believe a word of what you hear. Cost of living is stupid high. Hell I can't even afford to move to somewhere cheaper because I have to spend every dime I earn on paying plenty of taxes and high costs.

Texas is a large state but people still want to live in a "15 minute" city or less. The roads are not wide enough for the overcrowding. City folk are not used to the rural lifestyle and disturb the environment. The obvious culture shock for coastal people such as LA county or New Yorkers who decide that want to live in Texas attempt to change a lifestyle that people here are used to living; that causes conflict. The arrogance in spending from people used to living more expensively come to Texas and outbid locals creating a bad market. If people kept to the "when in Rome" mentality it would not be so hard for cohesion. Finally the allowance for "day workers" to "keep up with the Jones'" that is hurting the overcrowding, pricing, and crime. It is not as "Paradise" as it once was many many years ago.

There’s a depopulation going on in China today because of the metapneumovirus that hit China. Too many died already. Since there is a downturn in the housing industry on top of joblessness , there are too many homeless . Living on the streets means the people are prone to infection. Without proper nutrition, the people are getting sick and may end up with metapneumovirus.

China doesn't have a 30+ trillion debt like the USA. With Biden and democrats people in the USA are poorer and poorer. That is why most people voted for Trump.

I just read Bloomberg's view of Brexit again, it's almost word for word the same as Reuters and the WSJ, I'll copy a bit of it here, but to see the complete clusterfook of it all, you must first have a very large Stoli and sit down in a safe chair..... Brexit has harmed both the London and UK economies to date, with this adverse effect likely to increase over time by multiples. Various studies have explained how Brexit introduced insurmountable barriers to trade, not only with Europe but has removed all EU trade benefits with countries worldwide, which the UK cannot replace alone, it's curtailed inward investment down to negligable figures from previously quite good ones, and stunted London’s ability to attract talented individuals from across Europe. For example, a recent study by Cambridge Econometrics shows that London’s economy has forgone around £39B of income in 2023 as a direct and immediate result of Brexit. Meanwhile, GLA Economics released a recent report that demonstrated Brexit’s adverse impact on trade, investment, migration, and cost of living in London. The report cited the fact that “80% of the increase in food prices between December 2019 and March 2023 [in the UK, including London] could be attributed directly to the effects of Brexit”, 10% other inflation and 10% due to Covid. These findings affirm those of a recent report published by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, which confirmed that after the end of the transition period, the UK’s real GDP is 4%-6% lower than it would have been without Brexit, with that impact increasing to 11%-15%, or more [we now in 2024 realise it's going to be much more], by 2035. These impacts will continue to undermine London’s economic prosperity exponentially as the European Central Bank has assured the EU commission that it will 'sure up' the European Union's financial security by mid 2025, by taking all three trillion, yes, three trillion Euro trading 'in house' from the previously independent (and hazardous) City of London. Just thought I'd let you have something to talk to the Brexit side of the family about, over Christmas turkey and fizzy wine. Chin chin.
