a long time craft show vendor here i personally dont like that type of canopy (seen too many broke just like that) you might be able to cut a piece of steel about 4 in long to fit INSIDE the broken tube and put 3 holes through - one pivot 2 to hold in place i did that on one of ours once i have found 5 gal buckets of water work great to hold down with , pool noodles bowed on the corners work great to help keep water from pooling and "breaking the frame"
Sooo, what about the joints tho?How would I go about repairing those? (I apologize for the long comment, but I have a question/idea I didn't really know how to explain, but hoping you could give me your thoughts and advice, lol.) Do you think if I just took a 3/4" pvc cut it to roughly 4-6" and then split it lengthwise, down the middle I would be able to then slide it over the joint, hit it with the heat gun and shrink it as much as possible it would hold the joint from buckling? Maybe use zip ties around it if necessary? I just plan on leaving it up for the entire duration of the summer and placing my inflatable hot tub inside to keep it out of direct sunlight and other weather elements. In theory, i figure if I split it in the middle lengthwise, I then would still be able to remove the pvc in order to take the canopy down and store it for the winter without having to take the trusses off. I would be able to keep the entire canopy intact and not have to remove anything when putting the pvc in place, correct? Please let me know your thoughts and opinions about that idea and and if you have any advice or suggestions, please share then with me! It would be more appreciated than you could ever imagine!! Thank you!!
I don't think zip ties would work, but the cutting might, If one of mine broke I was thinking to make a mold and recast from some of the plastic molding material pellets you can buy on line, also instead of zip maybe a couple bolts would be stiffer.

@frrapp2366 Hmmm, I might have to try that. I got the entire canopy for free when I was on a vacation in Florida. I found it in the dumpster the day I was leaving, still in the case. I kinda figured it was broken but didn't know where exactly until I got it home. I realized what the problem was and decided to come on here to see if there's a solution. I'm gunna have to give both ideas a try considering I have the same exact issue on a giant deck umbrella. However, it's gunna have to wait unfortunately as I am down and out of any kind of commission for the next several months due to a fresh, week old knee injury that I just found out requires surgery. However, I'm gunna print both comments and keep them with the canopy and umbrella to give a try when I am able to function properly. Thank you for your advice!!
@@OhioBoii330 take one of the straps with you when you go looking for a piece of metal some straps have an inner extrusion that makes the center opening smaller some use the little reinforcing straps for wood working but the holes are staggered which i didnt like saw one where they used pop rivets to hold it together but not eveyone have them . seems like to me most are damages by blowing over so weight them down good have fun get well
