Bond… James Bond – Stern James Bond Pinball
I picked up a Stern James Bond pinball machine for a great price last week. I've mostly been shooting the lit shots without any understanding of what I'm doing. Despite that, I've been putting up some decent enough scores. There's still a ton of the game left to see!

Stern Jurassic Park pinball - Paddocks and Control Room modes
Просмотров 226 месяцев назад
In this game I decided to focus on playing through the paddocks, capturing dinos and rescuing fools. Sadly, I did not pay enough attention to the orientation of the jeep while starting paddocks and took a suboptimal path, encountering two of the more aggressive dinosaurs. Additionally, I got distracted by the control room side quests and the allure of big points on offer. All in all, not the be...
Stern Jurassic Park pinball - Can I Escape from Nublar?
Просмотров 647 месяцев назад
Spoiler alert: No, I cannot :-( These were my first games back on Jurassic Park after a couple of weeks away from home. I put together a half dozen games in the 250-550 million range, but sadly there were a dozen games sub-60 million. I got to the final paddock before Visitor Center two or three times but couldn't close the deal. Watch me play pinball live at www.twitch.tv/bdashnz
1980 Stern Quicksilver pinball - Spinners and drop targets
Просмотров 477 месяцев назад
I picked up this 1980 Stern Quicksilver pinball machine in Ohio last week while driving cross-country back to California. It was restored 5-10 years ago, and has a beautiful clear-coated playfield. The basic way to find points is to shoot the right bank of of drop targets to build the bonus multiplier when the ball is on the left flipper, and to shoot the left spinner when the ball is on the ri...
Stern Meteor pinball - Drop targets, spinner, and more drop targets!
Просмотров 207 месяцев назад
Stern's 1979 Meteor is based on the Sean Connery movie of the same name. It features a bank of six memory drop targets spelling METEOR and three other banks of three drop targets. Each dropped target in the METEOR bank builds the spinner value, but clearing the bank resets the targets and spinner value. Other banks build bonus. The basic idea is to drop the M and R drop targets, worth 600 point...
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth - Data East Jurassic Park
Просмотров 1078 месяцев назад
Data East's Jurassic Park pinball machine was released in 1993 not long after the blockbuster movie of the same name. It has an interesting layout with multiple scoops to shoot, a ramp with a diverter so the return can feed either the left or right flipper, and several saucers. There's even a T-Rex that eats the ball! Most of the points in the game are found during the three ball multiball that...
Playing a busted Bally Paragon
Просмотров 229 месяцев назад
Bally Paragon is a widebody pinball machine from 1979. It has a unique lower third, with dual flippers on the right and a pop bumper instead of the usual inlane / outlane on the left. It's a famously challenging game. I bought this copy of the game yesterday. It's not in the best shape. The playfield has significant wear and many sunken inserts, the backglass is flaking, and there are problems ...
Too bad, so sad! Stern Jurassic Park pinball

An average session of pinball on Stern's Jurassic Park. I had a few high-scoring multiballs and got close to Visitor's Center twice, but couldn't quite pull it together. Watch me play pinball live at www.twitch.tv/bdashnz
Williams Taxi pinball

Taxi is a 1988 pinball machine from Williams. It has a simple layout and ruleset, but has some shots that are challenging to master. I picked up this copy of the game in a trade a few days ago so I've still got a long way to go! Watch me play pinball live at www.twitch.tv/bdashnz
Let's go bowling! Bally Strikes and Spares pinball
Просмотров 34210 месяцев назад
Bally Strikes and Spares is an early solid state pinball machine from 1978. It has a simple layout and uses delightful chimes for scoring. The strategy is simple: light the spinner, rip the spinner, build strike values, collect strikes. I bought this 1978 Bally Strikes and Spares pinball machine from a man that had been storing it in his garage. He'd owned for 20 years, but for the last 10-15 y...
Williams Grand Prix - vintage electromechanical pinball
Просмотров 12810 месяцев назад
Grand Prix was released by Williams in 1976 and was one of the most complex electromechanical pinball machines ever made. With two separate bonus ladders, four drop targets, two spinners, and three saucers, there's a lot going on. This copy has an aftermarket chime unit that really sings when there's a good, strong spinner rip! Watch me play pinball live at www.twitch.tv/bdashnz

Ripping spinners to relax - Williams Grand Prix
Since Doom happily lets you play networked, next we need a PvP tournament of PinDoom!
This is the greatest video of all time
Love the self satisfied giggle
Heck yeah! Were you able to get it to run on the SPIKE CPU, or are you just using the display and buttons to an external PC?
Hey Scott, love your work! It's all running on the CPU itself
To elaborate on this: I cross-compiled SDL and its dependencies, then built sdl2-doom. That was all a matter of finding the right build system incantations. Input was more complicated… that took a kernel driver to present a virtual keyboard device, and userspace program to initialize the node bus, poll for switch events, and translate them into events posted via the virtual keyboard device.
now THIS is a video mode
Hookup keyboard and mouse?
Using the pinball machine for input is the point 🙂 If you're going to use a keyboard and mouse you may as well just run Doom on a normal computer.
I want to see you tilt it
It underwhelmingly takes you back to game menu

That is amazing!!!
heelllllll yea
Bionic bart. In this version has been upgraded with new graphics and also new voice calls
Well, not exactly new voice calls but you get a new music track
Great game - are you based in nz or a kiwi overseas?
I'm a Kiwi living in California.
Best stern LCD imo.
Agreed! I've heard good things about Godzilla, too, but I haven't played it enough to have an opinion on it.
@@bdashnz Godzilla is a tad bit overrated to be completely honest. It’s a great game but I prefer this, maiden is up there too. JP is also a theme I can appreciate more then Godzilla.
Very nice. I played this in a bowling alley long ago. It was a fun game. Also played Sonic's Mars Trek. I remember several of these had these square shaped bumper covers. These star shaped rollovers tended to be non responsive a lot of times due to dirty contacts or the contact gap was too wide.
I’d really want to try this but I know I’d immediately lose my ball lol.
It took a few balls to get a feel for what sort of speeds would work. Too slow and you drain, too fast and you drain. Doing it with a micro-flip from a cradle was pretty consistent.
@@bdashnz ah ok, cool.
One of the most fun games I've ever played (and I've played for over 50 years)
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻 Hope you keep up the content
Thanks, I appreciate the positivity!
@@bdashnzim thinking of selling my gz pro to possibly upgrade it to premium, i just picked up a jp pro recently and its got me reconsidering if gz is truely the “goat”. You thinking should go through with it or go try a different title like dialed in or maiden ect
Going from Pro to Premium doesn't feel worth it unless it's a game you're planning to keep forever and the gameplay changes in the Premium really speak to you.
Seen this a lot in tournaments. Look forward to watching your play on it!
Seeing this game be played on a tournament stream is what made me start looking for one!
@@bdashnz Interesting! I can see that happening. I want a Walking Dead now, lol.
Greatest pinball ever
What are all the mods on your lower backbox?
It's artwork with a magnetic backing that attaches over the speaker surrounds. It's sold under the name WizPanel.
Now get to the final battle. Ive played it. Got to the final stage. And drained. But it was all really cool and the music atmosphere surpassed my expectations
I haven't made it that far just yet. My best run has been 5 cities plus Austin, which netted me around 750 million. I'm nudging closer and closer to FooBot multiball, Pretender multiball, and eventually the Final Battle.
