Get ready! Don't let it happen to YOU!
Good info! Thanks 😊
I read your comment on Returned Souls' video. You mentioned you are a Pathan who became a Christian. God Bless you brother! So happy for you.
Just passed my final CERT course today, super exciting and eye opening. Thanks for the heads up on your gear and kits, looking forward to seeing more videos!
Zello is just as cell tower and WiFi dependent as the cell phones themselves. Those systems are down, so is t Zello for that area. Thats why traditional direct radio systems like GMRS, let alone HAM, still rules today. Thats why I joined a local GMRS club.
Thank you Ron!
Hey 👋
How come you have not got back with us we have been trying to contact with you is there a problem with this
My account had been locked up. Computer problems! Had to buy a new one!
What3Words is an outstanding app for sharing location.
Hey 👋
Hi Ron, found your videos looking for extra CERT into on YT, not a lot to be honest your one of the few trying to do regular CERT content. I actually just completed CERT training today in Humboldt County, CA. The local towns here of Scotia and Rio Dell are forming a new team which I will be joining once they have it up. We had a few big earthquakes recently which really pushed me to want to get training, and more importantly see how I could use my skills to help my community. I am also a HAM and applied to join the county AUXCOMM team as well. Keep up the good work :). I will subscribe and keep an eye on your videos. I would like to make the suggestion to get better lighting / audio, I think good video quality goes a long way in helping get the attention of people and helps with retention (someone like me that is dedicated to learning will look past that, but I think a lot of people on the fence may not).
I don't post a lot. However... I post enough to get the word out. I operate a 501 C 3 centered around SAR services.
are you iranian?
A lot of people ask me that. When I joined the Army. I was asked if I spoke the language.
@@certinstructorron4050 Even though you have an american accent, I believe you are a person who fled from Iran and is probably like an american proud christian now
good to see your back Ron.
This is awesome
I mention you Klint in my next video! I let folks know you got your Ham Ticket!
Very great topic
AS you know David... A lot of people "THINK" they're ready! I believe you're a CERT Member, I hope you are ready as well!
I am ready all the time yes I am a cert member
Very good video I'm A Ham Radio Operators KB3NFQ
No use if cell coverage goes down
I dont know how to get my beacon …. Please help me
You have to Spotter Network and follow the process. Then, take a test. Once you pass you'll be able to get your beacon. That's in the US.
Be careful on what channels you go in on that app I used the app I went into a channel to them roasting
Vem para meu grupo 👇 Irmandade96 Seja bem vindo!@
great blog thank you
I take the batteries out and put them in a zip lock next to the flashlight. We got alot of moisture and humidity here. And we're also surrounded by salt air due to the ocean surrounding the island. Anything metal corrode faster in this climate.
You're right! I tell folks to keep a zip lock bag in their vehicle so if it's raining and you have to abandon your car! As you know, you should be able to call with your cell phone in the bag! That phone can be used as a tracker if you're lost or injured!
@@certinstructorron4050 Absolutely! My get home bag in the car has zip lock bags in it because you never know when it'll come in handy.
Good information, thanks. One suggestion though: make a plan (and practice!) for when the disaster happens and you don't have cell/internet service. Ham radio, GMRS, MURS, ect.
I often tell people to do so! Many may not listen! Broadcasting on Ham is ONLY legal IF no other communications are available!
Very good video. I am attempting to transition laterally from City to City within my state. I already have some basic CERT knowledge and have completed basic train with about 3 different CERT groups at this present. With my brain, repetition is key. Keep up the great videos.
Good for you! I'd suggest getting your Ham license! It will probably open doors for you!
@@certinstructorron4050 already achieved. KC0VFO.
@@CurtAndAdrienne Good! I've been busy with Emergency Management stuff, lately meetings and planning. It's good to to get involved with Emergency Communications, and Skywarn! I'm in the middle of Tornado Alley. So we're always PREPARING for the next 'event.' CERT is just the beginning for those wanting to help others.

@@cyowellcert , Outstanding! In my neck of the woods. Being I live in Tornado Alley 🌪 I became a Storm Spotter too. I'm happy, you got your Ham ticket! 🧡... You might take other courses like Wide Area Search, and some ICS training. Keep me posted EXCELLENT example in making a difference ! 👍
Do you have any info on linking zello to gmrs?... I've had a General class ham license for years and just got my gmrs license
I've been busy trying to get materials out lately. You have to set up an account with, Zello Works.
Former Corrections Officer here....with you showcasing your CERT gear I'm guessing you were/ are Correctional Emergency Response Team? I'm current with the whole National Parks missing people data etc but I'd suggest you strive to maintain a top shape physical appearance IF you are going to fall back on your CERT title to distinguish yourself from the run of the mill recliner chair commando. It will add to your credibility.....but then again ..WTF do I know....I'm just another schmuck channel surfing.
I'm part of Community Emergency Response Team, we conduct light Search And Rescue. Often we may help Fire, and Law Enforcement with SAR. I volunteer as Emergency Communications via Ham radio, Skywarn too.
There are several types of CERT definitions. and This has nothing to do with Corrections or Tactical teams.
Hi Ron!
Hey Instructor Ron, great videos with a lot of great info! I’m looking to get my family that preparedness guide you have in the video. Where might I find those?
You might try contacting a local Emergency Management Office. City or county .
Some people forget that with zello it works on cell service and wifi if you don't have either one you have nothing and if the net goes down with the grid
That is CORRECT! The only REAL Communications would be Ham radio in most areas! Ham is the standard! GMRS, well it's not nearly available as Ham in most places.
Appreciate I also have earthquakes and Weather Channel in zello and telegram. I will try to check your channel in Zello
Login anytime! During weather events we're on! Lately I've been trying to get Emergency Pills materials out to my community.
Wish we had a cellar. Homes in Hawaii have no cellar or basement. Great storage space.
Here, in Tornado Alley it's a good idea! I've lived in Moore a couple of times. After 2013, I'm not thinking it's a good idea! At least with tornadoes, most often you have a warning! Earthquakes, you don't have one. I recall as a kid in California, more than once being shaken awake!
@@certinstructorron4050 Wow. One time we had an earthquake on Oahu the cats were acting strange seconds before the shaking. The big island has majority of the earthquakes. Hurricanes and tsunamis we need to watch for. Hurricane season starts in June ends in November for us.
@@hawaiipreppersnetwork808 Tornado 🌪 season is from late March, to into June most often. The more common months is April to May. However they can happen anytime!
Weather has been sketchy everywhere including here. Many times it rains on one part of the island and the rest is dry. I've seen it rain across the street from my house and on my side of the street it was dry. Pretty freaky 😆
I don't know all the particulars... I do know as a fact... Weather can be used a a weapon of war! It's, and" Environmental Modifications" are listed as such under the UN! I have the UN Documents. Not sure what's all the factors are. If you get on the UN's Website you could see it .
@@certinstructorron4050 Well aware of that.
He's beautiful! I miss my dogs, there's nothing like having dogs. Cats are okay but dogs are just different from cats, I really miss my dogs.
He's a beautiful dog! I got Cyrus from a good friend. Lynn warned me Tervurens are VERY intelligent and high energy! I've been taking him on walks weather permitting! I have a cat I rescued too. Cyrus often plays with the cat. Never hurts her!
@@certinstructorron4050 All my cats and dogs were are rescues too. Mom used to train and show Rottweilers and she would give me the ones that weren't show quality. She did have search and rescue ones too. They all were super intelligent. To me all dogs are intelligent. I've trained with all of them. Later I rescued lab/retrievers rescues, smart too. Really love the working class dogs, not into purse dogs. I would telepathically communicate with all the dogs. Cats have a mind of their own, more independent, they'd get what they want out of you then walk away 😆 the ginger kitties are the caretakers of my bunch.
@@hawaiipreppersnetwork808 , Lynn did dog rescue for years! We still have a couple mixed breed dogs. One thing for sure they are just as loving❤ !

Always be in a state of preparedness we never know how and what type of emergency will come our way. I've conditioned myself to be this way because disasters come in different forms. Great reminders thank you! Be safe!
After being in a tornado, The El Reno one in 2013 ( The Largest ever recorded) Working disasters. I stayed prepared! We never know! You have to be ready for sure! Hugs my friend.
@@certinstructorron4050 Right there with ya! After hurricane Iniki hit Hawaii on September 11th 1992 I immediately became a bona-fide prepper on steroids 😆.
It's said, " things will change you." Experiencing May of 2013 Changed me with three tornadoes! After getting CERT trained, I got my Ham License, and trained for Skywarn. I spend a lot trying get people prepared now!
@@certinstructorron4050 Absolutely! Unfortunately not everyone prepares for the unenviable in life. Getting the message out is one of the best ways of doing so.
@@hawaiipreppersnetwork808 , I'm trying to get the word out! My big thing is Ham Radio when all else fails with communications. Ham is the answer! Some else I often tell CERT Teams if you can't communicate, you can't help others ! Zello is an EXCELLENT tool too! I've used it for years now. The only down fall is, it's has to have data!
so true this is so true .

I find your videos very informative especially since I'm heading back south for a bit during hurricane and tornado season that will be coming up real soon very good app to have.

Keep an eye on the 🌞 we're getting some geomagnetic storm activity going on. The Xflares will definitely affect the higher frequencies on ham radios.
I just asked some people using HF. (AM frequencies) They haven't reported any trouble yet. I'm listening to a GMRS Radio Net no trouble reported yet! Who knows! At lease not yet!
I've been looking into acquiring my licensing, didn't know you could do all 3 one time.
I took my Tech test I studied for a month , passed ... The VEs ( the examiners) wanted me to take the Test for the General after passing. I decided not to... Went home studied for a week passed the General! The General gives you the HF ( High Frequency AM ) Often, you might pass one and get lucky and pass the General without studying! However, the Extra has 50 questions as I recall! Someone could pass all 3 test! No likely though! @Hawaii Preppers Network 808. I say just study the test questions and know the answers! Don't try to understand! Once you pass you can learn! That's what I did! Good luck my friend!
Great information and advice. And never go alone to parks or hiking, the weather can also change immediately.
There's a lot of things we don't know! We just don't know what's going on in a lot of cases. It's as if people are being SNATCHED! No scents, no tracks! No signs! It's best to stay together, like herd mentality. Protection in numbers!

I agree! I took it in 2014 after the Moore and El Reno tornadoes in 2013. I studied and obtained my Ham licenses too. Communication were lacking during those events! These days I storm spot and are part of Emergency Communications.
@@certinstructorron4050 i still need to take the ham license and study for this. I have the regular two way radio but the ham is the one for me to get.
Ahh so a mylar bag blocks the signals? Would you suggest insulation in metal trash cans? Nice you're recycling!
I use a trash can lined with card board. I have some mylar bags that dog treats come in! I put my radios in those bags. ( Ham Radios) If you tune the radio to a station, drop in one of those bags it goes DEAD! The bags act as a Farady cage. I keep some stuff protected.
@@certinstructorron4050 This is brilliant thank you!
@@hawaiipreppersnetwork808 , You might see if you can get a couple of cheap Ham UV5R Baofeng hand held radios. Program them to local ham repeaters in, and around your area. Ham operators can be used for Emergency Communications. You could then listen in on their traffic. You have to have a license to transmit. The only EXCEPTION would be part 97 - 403.
Headlamps are good for hands free.
You're right! I have one on my hard hat. That way my hands are free, I'd use a red or green light to have less trouble with the mosquitos ! Thanks my friend! hugs stay safe!

Evan, I've been using it since May of 2015. We use it for communicating with our storm spotters while monitoring weather radar. My team works with some Firemen in Alabama using this app.
CERT Instructor Ron it definitely is a good app to communicate with teams like yours and my own
@@MasonBladeXMPW agreed . I emphasize Ham Radio too when all else fails. After assisting during the Moore and El Reno Tornadoes, I saw the need, and the role Ham can play.
Ham radio is essential in disasters. Either vhf/uhf for short range stuff and hf for longer range. Cell towers do go down but they also get over loaded during big events or disasters. Communications is key during these events.
Exactly right David!
