Why Was Harold and the Purple Crayon Such a Disaster?
How does a movie adaptation of one of the most beloved picture books ever mess up this badly? Well, I have the answers. Ish. Sort of. Maybe.

Which Clue Ending Makes The Most Sense?
Просмотров 112 тыс.2 года назад
Clue (1985) has three endings and none of them make any sense, but there's got to be one ending that makes the least least sense, right? Join me as I analyze every Clue ending in order to figure out which of the three deserves the honor of being the most sensible Clue ending! 0:00 - Beginning 2:28 - Ending 1 9:53 - Ending 2 13:31 - Ending 3
Dear Time Machine Geek, If you haven’t even noticed when watching the movie, the only logical explanation when the murderer sneaked into the library to hit the cop on the head with the lead pipe is because Wadsworth left the key in the door when he locked him in the second time before everybody split up again. It wasn’t a continuity error, it really happened. I suggest you should watch the movie again and see for yourself.
Yvette’s death scene more or less proves that ending 3 is canon. It starts with her dropping her accent and talking in secret with someone, revealing that she’s working for them. This disqualifies Peacock, who works alone. The employer can only be Body or Scarlet. It ends with her shocked exclaimation of, “[Oh no,] It’s you!” The surprise in her voice proves that it wasn’t her employer who killed her, which eliminates Scarlet from the suspects. It also implies that the person who is attacking her is someone she already knew wanted to kill her, which points to Mrs. White.
Colonel is pronounced kernal~
Watched it in class and I loved it

The narrator of this video is definitely somebody that's that seemed the word Colonel but has never heard anyone pronounce it in real life LOL😂
With the way Ms Scarlet is holding that gun, it's pretty improbable that A) The shot doesn't go over the singing telegram's head B) If it does hit, that the singing telegram doesn't have a gruesome facial wound in the shot of her keeling over. Another -1 point
Watching the clue movie has sorta become a Halloween tradition for my family.

I am like almost at the end of this video and just realized it only has 15 likes… THIS IS AMAZING! It’s so well done! I hope your channel grows because you absolutely deserve it!
Thank you so much! Those are such nice words.
i didnt even know this movie was coming out until it was basically leaving cinemas. this is a banger video.
I think your such an underrated channel! I hope you get the attention you deserve ^^
dude this was a great video.
I fully remember a rev green ending where he had daddy issues idk where I’m getting that from
The book is so gentle and soothing, at least to my memory. Turning it into a high stakes adventure centering adults and adding an evil villain changed the whole tone of the story. Nobody who feels any sort of nostalgia for the books would want to see this warped, distorted version. I think you are right that they could have given the main character a wand and it wouldn't change much. This wasn't a story about Harold and his purple crayon and the movie suffered by trying to pretend it was.
In the theatrical version of Clue, the ending is everyone did it! I personally love that ending
Good analysis! I barely even noticed when this move came out, so it’s interesting to hear how much the marketing flopped
I’d say them being distracted from say Yvette taking the knife and others is because they are preoccupied with the events happening like the gunshot in the wall and Mr.body being “dead” also….how the hell would Yvette drag a grown man who’s dead weighted at that point and is taller than her while she’s in heels, all the way to the bathroom without causing noise in the hallway
Yvette’s dialogue before dying sticks out because it’s like she’s reporting to someone and to me, if Colonel Mustard killed Yvette the it make see with the seeing every inch of her body part of her dialogue BUT Mrs White’s motive was because she hated Yvette due her sleeping with her husband or if i remember correctly that was implied. But Mrs, White being upstairs during the time of death still makes no sense, at least Wadsworth was running as if he wasn’t in the room which adds to the third ending probability. Also if Wadsworth was downstairs shooting the singing telegram, wounding he had seen all the death, how would no one see him especially if the gun shot when off so close by since everyone killed was on the ground floor also who would Wadsworth kill the singing telegram Mr. Green being the only one to have not killed anyone and then being a cop makes the most sense since his secret is one of his own and not if actions he took or did
The singing telegram girl shot in a jiff = 1 staring stiff!!2:07

When 20th Century Animation Releases Two Films in One Year: 2025: Me and My Shadow and Monkeys of Mumbai: The Legend of Raj and Deepu
I can't handle you not pronouncing Colonel wrong. Also DiXit is pronounced like deceit. It's a pun.
A few problems with the third ending not addressed: 1. Why was J Edgar Hoover calling Wadsworth if he is the real Mr. body. 2. What about his confusion in the shower if it was his house? 3. Why would he confess the the murder of the singing telegram singer? 4. Why didn't the fake Mr. Body play along with the early plot? 5. Why does the container address to Wadsworth?
It makes me so happy seeing other people who have watched this show and loved it. It's truly one of my favorite shows of all time and, like you, tell everyone I can about it. It was also the first piece of media (show, movie, book, play, etc) to have ever made me cry ("The Deerfox" had me SOBBING)! I have so much love for this show and you hit on so many of the reasons that make it special :)
Gonna have to deduct a point from you for that pronunciation of the word "Colonel." Are you an AI?
It is pronounced "kernel" not how it is spelled.... 😅
16:13 As a woman, I always assumed she had her gloves in her bra or something.
I haven't seen the movie, but I want to say that ducks migrating is a good idea for a movie that I haven't heard of before.
Colobel is pronounced "kernel."
Best line in the film is Mrs. White's "Flames" line. Supposedly, it was an unscripted ad lib.
Colonel is pronounced "kernel", not "col-oh-nell".
Miss Scarlet used the phrase, "Yevette worked for me" after Yevette's death. It is conceivable that Yevette worked for Miss Scarlet right up to the moment when Scarlet killed her - NOT a plot hole...
According to Christopher Lee, you don’t scream when you’re stabbed in the back.
I don’t think there would have been a problem with Mrs peacock using the secret passage to escape the kitchen, so that adds one point to #2 and 3. 3 is still the clear winner.
When Ms Scarlett said Yvette "worked" for her, Yvette was dead. Hence, past tense.
My school did the stage play version of this movie last year, and we used the “they all did it” ending. Personally it’s my favourite because it gives all the characters a chance, and I just found it really fun
Personally, I think the caption "That's how it could have happened" applies to all the endings, based on the nature of the game. There are probably other scenarios that could have played out, but the final one showed how anyone of them could have been a murderer. In fact, the final one shouldn't be thought of as a Wadsworth ending, or even a "They all did it" ending. Only Mr. Green killed Mr. Body. (But he was justified (apparently )) I think the first ending should get an additional positive point, because Miss Scarlet makes a pretty convincing villain. My personal favorite is the second one, though. It explains the phone call, makes the most sense as to why Wadsworth created the dinner party, and doesn't leave me wondering why he went through all the trouble of creating the dinner party, told everyone he called the police, then proceeded to act out the proposed solution.
I feel like a lot of your negative points are missing certain degrees of believable logic. Too many to go over in a comment for a two year old video, but to answer the questions of "how did they not notice...?" It's easy for humans to miss clear and obvious details when they're distracted by other things, so not seeing so not seeing someone sneaking off while you're focusing on something else is possible. Also, each character got some documentation before going to the mansion, including what alias they should go by, so it's possible certain characters were informed of certain secret passages before arriving. But, that does seem unlikely, so given how easily Colonel Mustard (and it's pronounced more like "kernal") found the passage entrance in the conservatory it's possible they could have been stumbled upon. Given the cook's body placement on discovery it's possible she didn't die on the initial stabbing and made a run for it before getting finished off, inadvertently showing her killer where it was. Scarlet and Mustard both have opportunity to stumble into the conservatory entrance, and they do both end up there without prior rendezvous planning, so it's possible for both endings that one go there, took advantage of the opportunity, and got really lucky before the other showed up.
Some of these improbabilities feel a little weird and arbitrary. I feel like a lot more are believable
Great vid! One suggestion: at the very end instead of just episode titles, I’d have like a short recap; especially for Homer and Marge I forgot what their best was

Hiding gloves when you have no pockets or purse isnt hard. You carry them in your bra! 💁♀️
The book has a fourth ending and if you choose the random ending on the DVD and Blu-Ray it's random which one you get. Which was how it was in theaters.
For those not in the know, there's actually a 4th ending IF you buy the book. Keep in mind, though, it's expensive to buy. Who wants me to spill?
Your rule of someone using the weapon they were given at the beginning earning a point skews the odds heavily in favor of the final ending, which happens to have a lot more killers than the first two.
Wait so in 2/3s of the endings all of killers are women?
You could argue especially with Ending 1 is a common thing that could happen with gameplay. You could get every detail right but get some details wrong with your theory. Ending 1 could be a reference to that
This video is just a red herring!
