Tom and Nova both born in Canada. Tom small town BC then family moved to Edmonton Alberta, Nova born in Edmonton Alberta where they eventually met. They became friends and parted ways but stayed in touch. In 2016 or 2017 got together in Cali.

Matthew Buckner, Bucky is a former member from when they were known as 4:2:Five. He is also in their cover of Drunken Sailor as the drunken sailor.

This song was from the early ‘90’s by the rock group Extreme. This wasn’t their usual sound, but this acoustic guitar version won them a gold record. I’ve always liked it, and was very happy that Voiceplay decided to sing it, particularly with Layne doing so much singing in it. (Layne is terrific at beat boxing, but we love to hear him sing. ) By the way, have you seen the interview Layne did with Peter Barber? It’s worth a listen.

This is from a Netflix TV show called The Witcher. The coin they used is a VoicePlay challenge coin. (They had some made a few years ago.)

They record the short videos in the mall where Pattycake Studios is located. They do sing along while taping. But the vocals in the finished video are prerecorded. About once a month they open a video (and audio) feed for their upper level patrons and we get to watch them record the videos. Usually it’s the longer videos, but one month they set us up outside Pattycake to watch them record minis. In the middle of one, there was a very loud announcement that came over speakers in the mall, but - true professionals they are - they didn’t react and kept filming. That was the take they used, and you’d never suspect the loud interruption they had. You might want to go back and watch again, this time paying attention to the small videos inset at the bottom. That’s where they did the Time Warp dance, and in one Layne is laughing so hard he had to cover his mouth. They have a lot of fun during their shoots!

This is from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They do the videos in public. VoicePlay will be on stage singing with Chicago this Friday & Saturday, November 17 &18 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The set was one built by Layne and Tony to duplicate the (mostly closed) Disney stores that used to appear in large malls. It was used for a Pattycake video and a couple of barbershop tags, then moved to a storefront in the same mall as Pattycake and opened as a popup store- Magic Mirror Market - selling retro Disney items. After three months, Layne and Tony couldn’t handle the extra business, so when had an offer from someone else that had a Disney merchandise store they sold the whole thing to her - fixtures, movie projection setup, stock - everything except the memorabilia that Tony owned personally.

I wish you would have seriously harmonized on a high note with him I think it would have sounded nice.

This song is from Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. You pronounced Eli (Jelly) correctly the first time. Eli and his wife are expecting their first child this month. VoicePlay and all the fans are so excited for them.

I wouldn’t expect J None to do anything but feature in the near future. As of his last promotion he was moved from singing with the Naval band northwest to singing with the Sea Chanters, the US Navy’s premier singing group. (A couple days ago he sang at a special event at the White House. ) But he is a lot closer to them now. To film this, he flew in that morning and back to Washington that night.

You’re not wrong. Although VoicePlay does sing while they are recording their videos, that’s not the final audio you hear. As a patron, we get to be a ‘fly on the wall’ each month at a recording session. Sometimes it’s during blocking, but often it’s while they are recording. One month they took us out into the mall outside Pattycake Studios to record minis. Although they were singing, right in the middle of one a mall announcement came over the speakers. Although it startled me, none of the guys reacted in any way to it, and that take became their final video. (They do a LOT of takes, often because they’re having so much fun, but not due to sounds in the mall.

I made it through the whole video, mess ups and all and you even have the wrong title. Why do you think this is a studio recording? Isn’t it obvious they are just recording themselves on a phone? lol

This was originally done by Nancy Sinatra in the ‘60’s.

This wasn’t green screen;neither was Peaches. They are filming these in the mall just outside of Pattycake Productions. Often you can see people going by and looking on in the background.
