fcs freedom vs creatures of leasure leash review
When you size up a grovel board you also increase the rocker on it proportionally and makes waves harder to catch even with the added float.
Hey from the Basque Region, I think I have the same issues with this board, it seems hard to generate speed… I m riding it with Quad set, but ,,, have you tried this board with High Performance twin fin set? Thanks for the vid!
Hi thanks for your feedback it’s really appreciated I tried it as a quad first then a very stiff thruster and gave up on it and sold it on but looking back had I tried a twin plus trailer given what know now it would of changed the board but I’ll never know now I guess
Definitely ruined it with the rear pad placement, the sweet spot is on the end of the tail. Literally can’t access 50% of the performance with that placement
Hey @antonlongman. 8, sick review! loving the content. I've got an opportunity to pick one up second hand, it's 5'11". I'm 6'3", 105 kg (About 16.5 stone), do you reckon it'd be the right size for me? Cheers!
Can I buy it
thanks for the review my man
Hey great review man! I just rode my baked potato for the first time about a week ago and it absolutely ripped down the line, but a little too much... I couldn't seem to turn and I suspect that's just because I had quads in. I swapped my quads out for some keel fins and just bought a trailer fin as well after watching your review in hopes to get a bit more maneuverability and control. Would you say the quad set up or twin setup is faster?
Are you sure you got the dims right? Maybe the ‘red’ version is different? Great review though overall.
Hi mate, thanks for the review. I’m thinking of getting a groveler for my quiver. Do you feel this board would also go well at the 6’3” size? I’m not much of a quad guy, so was pleased to see you ride and enjoy as a thruster. Fingers crossed I can find one. Cheers
Hey mate great video! Once you’ve cut out the hole for the new fin box there’s a lot of exposed foam in there. Would it be better to paint some kind of sealer on the exposed foam in the hole so water can’t soak in? Or is it a tight enough fit so no water can get in anyway?
Nice job, Mate ... your enthusiasm about this board decided me to order one ... received a couple of days now ... so a TB 6'3"with Machado quad fins will replace my 2001 "plastic" Bic 9' long heavy board ... super exited to try it next spring ... 'll give you (all, hi folks!) some feedback after the first sessions ... and, by the way, your accent is ... phenomenon, love it ... Aloha, salted water lovers !
Hey lasourisverte…. How are you finding the 6’3” TB? I’m keen also on that size, based on not getting in the water as much, so never paddle fit. Does is turn easy? Do you ride as a thruster or quad mainly? Thanks mate, Jason - Melbourne Australia.
@@thebrozzesclips3683 Hi Jason ! i have to wait a couple of months before testing my board 'cause it's still freezing at the moment in France ... 'll let ya know after the first session's ... i will use quad's, normaly the best for such a large board ... see ya, Paul - Blois France.
I want to be a board maker. I'm great at making sculptures and believe I have great ideas to bring to the endeavor.
Great review. Thanks for sharing Anton
Awesome review bro
The potato fanatic and you know I'm joining I'm joining the cult!
Super review, Anton! 1 final question before I buy a TB: How did it surf is head high to slightly overhead surf? How's the feel, control? Thank you for your expert advice! Good health!
Why did you go for the BBE over the OBE ?
Thanks for the review.
Just got one Haven’t surfed it yet.
would you recommend them for a beginner to intermediate surfer?
Hi, I might have missed it (checked the comments) but what is your weight?
0:51 von.fyi
Mine is 3 years old and had 3 owners and surfed extensively in Oregon and not a single pressure or ding on it!
Would love some footage of you surfing or an idea of what waves youre surfing these in
I was looking at those Gremlins as a softtop option but I heard similar issues to what you have stated there Anton. It doesnt seem much like a "fun board". The same size board for Catchsurf for example, get great reviews. Gremlin only works if you're John John I'd say 😅

Nice one my man, glad you are back surfing again! Looks like a lovely board. Got my first ever board today, had the loan of friend's old midlength before this. I got Firewire Twice Baked 5'9, after watching your review of it. Unboxing something beautiful is fun but I can't wait to surf it now!
Thanks for this man! I watched your other video too and I'm excited to get one of these for summer.
Keep up the reviews and videos man! I'm a beginner surfer and I've learned a lot from your stuff 👌
He’s back baby ! Summer vibes
Appreciate the review mate 🤙🏽
thanks for the review dude. Just ordered one to surf until my new evo arrives in March / April. LOoking forward to getting the wave count up as i ordered the same dims 6 1 at 49.3l so i can be a greedy boy! Are you still as in love with the board?
@@antonlongman.865 I see you reviewed the seaside and cymatic as well. I sold my seaside recently as although i loved the board i found i wasn't getting enough waves. I am thinking the TB design with the extra volume will help get me more waves. I love the the cymatic for cleaner conditions so that board is a keeper!. In fact i love the Tomo QISC designs. They are just SOOO fast! All that speed gives you lots of options, which is why i have ordered another evo. The Evo has to be one of the best boards i have ever owned however i got the sizing wrong. I rode a 5 11 for a year and when i was really fit & my padding was really strong i got lots of waves and i surfed the board well. When i wasn't fit i struggled with wave count. Keep frothing dude!
Can you distinguish the feed back you were looking for as a quad opposed to a thruster please?
Great review, not considered this board as I figured it was too much of a groveller. I'm 6' 84kg looking at getting the 5'11" coming down off a longboard. How does it go in normal cleanish waist to head high waves? I was trying to decide between this and a 6'4" Greedy Beaver... Just wondered what your thoughts were. Thanks, great channel 👍😊
@@antonlongman.865 hey, thanks for the reply and advice, are you still happy with the fins you suggested in you vid or have you found anything more fitting since? Great channel by the way! You've convinced me to get the Twice over the GB! Cheers 😊👍
@@antonlongman.865 Cool, thanks for coming back to me 😊
Hello! do you have problems with your board, pulling off the fins?? has the board been damaged?
Thanks man, really appreciate your knowledge here!! I'm just beginning but trying to progress quickly. I'm 5'8, 10stone and surfing north east Scotland. Do I think I should get the 6'1? As I want to be able to paddle easy, have a bit of float/balance and catch average waves while progressing to intermediate level? A mouthful there haha, but I hope you know what I mean.
Just saw your twice baked video now and I'm wondering would that be better or worse?? 😅
@@antonlongman.865 Cheers boss! Keep up the videos, people like you, help people like me a lot. And you arent sponsored to say anything, which means we get honesty! And UK/European tailored content too 👌
You should try it quad, Dan Mann designed it for quad setup. fast and loose :)
I put the TOMOhawk fins in mine and it’s incredible
Bro I can see your stoke on this whip .. but chucking it in the high performance category... mmmm ... na
Great review. I too am a BP lover. I grabbed a TB right away when it came out. Everything you said in your review I agree with completely! I am utterly stoked on this board! Loved it as a quad, FCS2 reactors in large, same as worked in the BP well. Then I put a set of MR twins with the baby center fin and, wow, I'm absolutely stoked! You should try it if you get the chance. Anyway, thanks for sharing your stoke!
Would like to know how stiff are the fin compare to the jw aircore or the performer fins? Does it have a medium flex? Thinking about getting them
antonlongman. 8 would they work on small mushy days and fat wave? Or more for clean glassy wave?
antonlongman. 8 thank you
Good review can’t wait to get my twice baked for this winter
antonlongman. 8 yeah I tried my friends 5’3 baked potato it was so fun he told me to get the twice baked
antonlongman. 8 I forgot to ask how’s the h4 fins are they stiff or mid stiff haha?
@@coldwater5707 I had a 5'11 BP and got rid of it. Too much volume. I have a 5'7 now and thinking of getting a 5'5 TB. Pretty much the same age and weight as yourself.
@@troppotardi I am 210lbs and looking to get a TB. I think the 5'9" would be perfect for me but they only have a 5'7" and a 5'11" at the shop. Hate to go too big or too small but I am leaning toward the 5'7". Based on your comment I think lower volume is the way to go, don't want it to be completely on top of the water and not be able to dig into the wave on turns. Duck dive-a-bility is also a factor.
@@trooperdave3757 5'11 was too much for my local closeout/beach break. It was heavy to take on holiday also. Chumlee as a more manoeuvrable option over the TB?
thanks for the review. how much do you weigh??? and the duck dive ??? thank for the reply
@@antonlongman.865 👍
Machado keels are magic with this board.
Great review! Can’t really justify a TB personally as I have a fairly new BP in helium. Out of interest why do you use a thruster setup as a opposed to a quad. Wouldn’t a quad setup be better for more speed in grovel type waves?
How do you like the h4 fins ? Are you planning to make a review for those ?
Yeah man - thanks for the review and the stoke on the board! I can't wait to get mine, it is about 2 weeks out. There are none available at least in the 6' 1", but that's okay I can wait 2 weeks based on this review:)! I will probably watch a few times before now and then! Cheers!
@@antonlongman.865 As you know I am waiting - haha. Do you mind giving thoughts between the TB and Seaside - direct comparison. thanks!
@@jamiemacmahan3417 I have both. 5'10 SS and 5'9 TB. The seaside is a high performance fish. Not at much of a wave catcher as the TB but still very good! I think the Seaside is more responsive and lively - i think due to the helium tech, but I think both of these boards can perform in the same conditions. Waist - head high. I would prefer the TB in more junkie conditions as the timber tech has a little more weight to swing through the white water. I also found the TB easier to duck dive as the SS has more foam distributed under the chest. If I had to choose one to keep it would be the seaside (but why not have both :-))
@@akinsl45 Thanks Luke! Great to hear! Well, I am still waiting for the TB. I am considering buying a Seaside in the mean time as I found some in stock. Basically surfing has become my COVID escape and my local vacation. It lets me focus on something new and challenge myself. I have been mountain biking for 25 years. I am ready for a smaller board owing to the beach breaks and just ready. I haven't surfed in 20 plus years, and never really focused on it except catching waves on a long board. I got out of surfing because the longboard though fun isn't as exciting, I could be a better longboarder, but I want more fun in the surfing. I know this goes against the rules, but the rules are meant to be broken. In three weeks, I woke the brain up riding my old 9'6" longboard, then my old mid-size 8 footer, got a high volume 7' 2" -riding that no problem, to a lower (40L) volume 6'8" and finally able to duck dive the lower volume board. I am ready for the smaller board, I am catching waves and too stubborn to give up. I was getting good bottom turns this morning. Hence even more desire for a short board. BTW - how much do you weigh? Thanks again!
@@jamiemacmahan3417 195lb
@@antonlongman.865 Thanks! Question - am I getting the right size? with the 6'1"? I am 190lbs. I got the TB at 6' 1" as it will be a wave catching machine, but it seems this catches waves with a lower volume, based on Luke? Is the 6' 1" too much, or 5' 11" or even 5' 9". I am able to catch waves, I am really looking for the performance after catching the waves. I recognize the difference of the larger volume paddling and catching waves. Should I get TB in higher or lower volume and Seaside in lower or lower volume (or vice-a-versa)? I welcome any insightful thoughts:)!
Very nice review, im getting stoked too much by your review , i need to calm down otherwise im gonna buy one haha. I think your channel is underated, you are one of the best reviewer around here.
Will you be doing a review? And comparison to the BP?
antonlongman. 8 Excellent I look forward to to buddy!
Been looking at those, perfect small wave board
@@antonlongman.865 Do you prefer this over the Helium Baked Potato? I was so close to getting one, but now this piques my interest:)!
@@antonlongman.865 Thanks buddy! I appreciate the quick response so I can buy one - haha! What fins do recommend for this one? Great job on all of your reviews! They are awesome, and very insightful - keep it up!!!
@@antonlongman.865 Thanks Anton! Long replies are great - especially when you are grabbing all of the important information for making a purchase!
Last question, so I am 5' 9" 190lbs and planning on getting the 6' 1" based on your happiness with the board. I am beginner/intermediate. I think this is the right choice:)? I want something fun and playful, that still paddles well and can catch waves.
@@antonlongman.865 Awesome - thank you!!!!
Hello , im waiting for the review on this one and comparaison between the dan man you already owned. What dims did you got ?
I just surfed my TB for the first time this morning in 2-3' semi peaky beach break. I'm stoked. If you like the BP you'll like this shape. In my opinion it fixes my main complaint with the BP. Thinning the tail and adding a bit of rocker makes late drops much easier. It felt a bit looser also. My BP is in helium and feels much lighter under arm but in the water the timbertek feels like it carries alot more momentum. Sorry I went long, I'm just very stoked on this board!
@@TheTheRobinator thanks for the feedback, dan mann explained he choosed the timberteck exactly for that , the rebund is better than with helium that what he said in one his video presenting the twice baked.
Nothing like a new toy..
