Now jump from this scene to: WALT -Hank, my cancer come back. HANK- Good. Rot you, son of a b****
Skylar didn't care about what Walt wanted. Even marie and hank understood walts decision. This summarizes the whole show up that if she didnt try to always be the balls of the house walt wouldn't of went and cooked meth in the first place. Hed have a life he could somewhat control
Wanna know why Hector Salamanca couldn’t speak? He never had the talking pillow
after hearing abt his dad..
He has a point and fair one at that, Chemo and pills may help buy you some times but slowly, you'll lose yourself.
Jr. is sooooooooo hott
Betsy Brandt (Marie) feels like she's channeling some experience with someone who dealt with a terminal disease or something, i was felt her so much in this scene like beyond acting, i mean she's so good and it breaks my heart watching her like that.
0:29
He was talking about his wife, She has always complained about his choices, making it her choice at the end. When he has always supported hers and when he disagreed a little bit she didn't care she would still do it. Is sad very sad.
This is the moment when that pillow became the Talking Pillow.
I remember watching this on AMC when I was a new episode I really burst into tears, till this day is still hits me.
0:28 I love how he whistles
The “make love” part… made me cringe
And then... He took the treatment, shaved his head, bought a hat and everything was hunky dory! No cleaning, no artificially alive man. 😂 It's called the magic of writing!😅
" and that's how you will remember me " This line hits hard....
If Walt had married Marie, he would have been better off
Anyone know where hanks fleece is from?
That clock in the background the whole time. I love it.
When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, I was willing to support him whether he chose treatment or not. He did choose treatment, but he still passed away.
Hank: arrogant type Marie: arrogant type Skyler: arrogant type Walt: egomania type
This is the moment when Walter White became a 🐱
I love how Skylars's leftist views gets destroyed and disagreed on throughout the conversation.
It's right wing... Lol
Agree with you. She’s real big on telling others what’s they need to do with their lives. Very controlling. She’d be running around, telling everyone they must get the Covid vaccine and bullying them if they didn’t.
That pillow deserved an Emmy.
I actually kind of teared up in this scene listening to Walter talk. Because not only was he completely right, but this a very real ultimatum that countless people have to make every single day when they get the news he got. Either accept your fate and enjoy the time you have left, or fuck your body up even more just for a chance to survive. And it raises the question no one wants to think about, what would YOU do
This could be entitled "Skyler White sucks, BigTime". Anna Gunn might as well throw in the towel as far as acting goes. Maybe Gunn just did her job too well, that's why she is so universally contemptible.
As someone who’s had both parents unfortunately fell victim to cancer, Skylar is gaslighting walt so hard in this scene it’s sickening lol. We had similar discussions like this and always left it up to the person to decide what they wanted or wanted to go through. It’s their life, their decision. And while we all wanted them to fight and try to survive, it wasn’t up to us to make the decision for them. I completely understand why she would do it, but Marie is the main person who’s correct in this scene. All that treatment, nausea, restlessness, and for what? To die more often than not and leave your family with debt? It was Walt’s life and he was free to do with it as he felt was right. Skylar inadvertently created Heisenberg in a way by pressuring him to get treatment and him ultimately succumbing to it once he started cooking again. The small nuances in this show that lead to the final outcome were so well put together. If Skylar accepted Walt’s decision here there would be no Heisenberg.
This is the moment Walt became the one who talks
Skyler when walt doesn't have money for treatment: Don't you wanna see your daughter grow up? Skyler the moment walt earns money and can afford to treat himself: Stay away from the family. Here's the divorce papers BTW
The reason why walt said all this, he doesn't want to be remembered as a sick man, he doesnt want to be sick all day everyday, he doesnt want the treatment because he will be like his dad, he doesnt want walt jr or any one to remember him that way like how he remembers his dad being sick
"Alright I've got the talking pillow now" LOL Cranston is a comic actor at his core
"This is so stupid." Best line in the whole scene.
One of the best scenes in all of television, ever.
Season 1 "Skyler: I DONT WANT HIM TO DIE AT ALL!!!" Season 5 Skyler:"All I can do is wait. Bide my time until the cancer comes back." Talk about total shift in character. Great writing.
I know what my father felt going through chemo and stuff he never complained he knew his time was coming yet he was about his buisness. Miss you dad
This is the scene where Walter white truly died.
Walt: if i am to sick to work.. to enjoy a meal.. to make love.. to cook meth? Hank: what? Walt: what?
I have Lymphoma and I get this is a show and all but the way Walt explains living with cancer is the best answer I can give someone who asks me what it feels like to have cancer. Slowly dying everyday and not doing the things you love and not enjoying the you love as well. It’s the worst feeling in the world.
Easily the best scene of the first two seasons.
“All I can do is bide my time and wait for the cancer to come back.” The character progression in this show is insane.
Mike: shut up! Shut the hell up! Walt: no mike. I've got the talking pillow now.
This is the exact moment when Walter White got the talking pillow
"And that's how you would remember me. That's the worst part."
I feel like this was one of the first scenes that turned the audience against Skyler
This is the exact moment Walt got the talking pillow
I consider Gray Matter to be the weakest episode of Breaking Bad, and it's still like a 7/10. This scene is what makes watching it worth it. A scene of this quality in any other TV show would be a series highlight. In Breaking Bad, it's a scene from the worst episode. Bravo. Vince.
skyler had NO respect for the talking pillow
“We’re gonna make a lot of money together” “Just remember who holds the talking pillow fool”
Some of the best acting I’ve ever seen
I love the way Hank grabs the food in between the conversation.
The most telling thing is, the guy with the advanced medical degree is not even asked his opinion. Shows how overlooked Walt was, and why he became Heisenberg
