Honestly swineherd is a mid A tier cus I had a colony that was constantly having food shortages I first tried cargo ship spamming importing wheat but that didn't work so I just 3 swineherds and those boys were eating good from then on, does suck up your grain supply so that's why I'd put it mid A tier

If I were to play this game again, I would do two things when invading other countries. I would firstly train a lot of diplomacy people and place them all over the enemy island so I can see everything at all times. Secondly, I would do as this guy is doing and slowly break everything down instead of all at once.

I do have a nice strat, which is making them go around the island to the only spot where they can disembark. On the walls I have a bunch of balistas all around so I sink the ships before they even reach the spot, making the amount of vikings disembarking minimal or even none.

I wish I'd found your channel last year when I started playing this, YT spams me channels of very dull folk playing it noobishly but trying to sound like they got it all figured out. Other than you there's only 1 or 2 channels that know enough of the intricate game mechanics to learn anything useful, so bravo! I've subbed and will enjoy watching more, the fishbowl was hilarious. Given that tier lists were invented to get friends arguing, it's amazing I mostly agree with yours. I totally agree with fish industry, it's labour intensive, utterly unreliable and if you even have one square in their fishing zone that has no fish in it, the idiots will go look for fish there every time, as soon as it rains you got nothing but a mass of wasted labour and they leave your coast exposed. However I've discovered the massive health buff for your kingdom having pigs instead of just wheat and fruit gives; plus with a bit of planning, pigs as a foreign export can minimize and even utterly replace the need for taxation and the huge amount of labour, space and resources having even 30% taxation requires. Follows is a really long description that nobody asked for, about how useful our stinky porcine friends really are. 1. The set-up: Moat fed Noria with large reservoir attached directly to it, extra 3 or 4 3X3 block wheat farm areas with windmill in the centre (makes 8 fields each, mills can be switched off, I'll get to that); place granaries right next to 6-8 pig farms. Right next to that; a small stockpile stocked with about 25-35 tools a year, 3 or 4 butchers each with a horse to take the pork to the docks and then 2 or 3 docks, 2 of which are feeding your export dock with a cpl cargo boats. Depends on island pop of course, but I found 3 docks negates need for taxation with 1K pop. Two for extraction, one for export, horses only drop off to extraction docks, they can all go to one or both of them, whichever creates shortest cart journeys; cargo boats do the rest. 2. The strategy: So all three docks (2 is plenty unless you want zero taxation); AND the cargo boats delivering to your chosen export dock can ALL be full by the time the overseas merchant arrives. I outright ignore local merchant ships. (A lot of even veteran players still confuse the AI kingdoms merchants with the overseas ones.) The OS merchant will not leave as long as you are selling/buying, usually if you have the docks close enough; all 3 docks and ships have emptied before they even announce they want to leave, but if you keep trading every minute or so in slow mode they will still stay indefinitely. This will net you around $4000+ in trade profit per OS merchant visit. 3. The maffs (numbers): Although this sounds like a lot of infrastructure, I have 1500+ pop cities on zero tax, (Vintar mode, I can still afford danger pay every viking and dragon event), negating the need for all the 'happiness' buildings that are a PIA and need lots of stuff; even the ones they cry about not having, ("-10 , the peasants want X"); like bath houses and theatres can be switched off, switch off the grand library once the research is done, I still get 90-100 happiness with only small libraries/pubs/churches (in that order of priority) and maybe clinics still on, but plague losses are easily absorbed. If i mess up and miss an export cycle cos I got distracted by butterflies, can just turn that stuff and taxation back on, but I'm usually sitting on 20-30K gold by then and don't need to. It's way cheaper in space, labour and resources than running taxation and all the happiness buildings. There's no micro-management, the horses supply the 2 docks that aren't activated to allow merchant ships and the cargo boats just keep filling the export dock. All your required to do is keep selling pork until all the pork docks and cargo ships are empty. If you got everything set right, this can be done before the ship announces it wants to leave. One large iron mine and 6-8 blacksmiths is usually more than enough to supply the butchers as well as all other industries/max armies with tools/armaments, if not, simply purchase iron from the merchant, you'd still be ahead in profit if you purchase extra tools but avoid it, iron is 3 gold but tools are 5 gold. I've tried this with tools as export, but production is too slow and the use of iron, charcoal and labour is too high. Even tho pork sells for $3 and tools for $5, pork is about 3 times more profitable and faster. I often have excess tools when I'm not building armies or scaling back rock or wood industries and I sell all surplus tools. The only reason I even use windmills is that when you load from a save, ALL your agriculture staff loses their mastery buff, but it returns after one year and you can switch them off again. The mastery buff value is 8 total in an 8 field farm, the mills' buff is 24 total (3 per 8 adjacent tiles), if needed can leave mills on until granaries feeding pigs are 2 thirds full then turn them off. 4. The summary and tips: Butchers stop looking for pork when they're full, they produce HUGE amounts if constantly not full. All docks are un-staffed, set to pork only @990 and locked from the peasants. Horses negate the need for dock workers. I enclose all 3 in one area with a single seagate and walls protecting them, rarely have to moat for extra space, but the closer the docks are to each other and the butchers the better. Docks/road/butchers and tool stockpile/road/pig farms/road/granaries/road/wheat farms, best layout. Sometimes I have a few horses on standby if docks are full way before merchant is due and they can supply markets or a dock close to town for the peasants needs. If that keeps happening I'll either close a few pig farms or simply build another pork dock and cargo boat for even more cash, but it reaches a point where you just don't need anymore money, or you've run out of places to squeeze un-staffed treasuries. TL;DR: Spam pork and export it, zero taxation will make your peasants so happy they will roll in the mud with the pigs and forget demanding a bath.
