Some of the best Merlin footage I’ve seen
Maybe you said, but how big is the cutting area on this bit? Do you have a link for this bit? Can't seem to find it anywhere
PADUK -BAD DUST
Glad you enjoy them.
I don’t even go duckhunting anymore I just watch Dales duck 🦆 videos thanks for the viewing time today
Great little falcon, very energetic and fast for its size!
Is it possible to glue a full laminated bow with with just inner tube/rubber bands? Will it give enouch pressure? It should give a nice even pressure I'm sure...
YES, TRACTOR OR SEMI TRUCK TUBES ARE BEST. I go to a john deer and ask them for blown tubes. always glad to get rid of them. how you wrap is important. If I didnt cover that Ill make a short video on the. also need semi round over lay straps, mine are made out of leather. let me know if you need more info.
@@daleguthormsen8555 Thank you so much for the reply! Much appreciated. A video on wrapping would be great. I have done some dry runs with inner tube on Fiberglass laminated but it seems like rubber band makes the Fiberglass strip bulge in the center because the glass is is thin. Wondering how to overcome this?
@@rucuscoetzee4895 That is because the pressure is pulling on the edges. I laminate 3 layers of thick leather together with barges contact cement. I take it to belt sander and round it out so the wraps pull uniformly on the limb to the form. You may still get some cupping but after you tiller the limbs it is unnoticable and is not a problem. if still a roblem you can cut a iece of galvaized sheet material over the glass then the strap. on take downs I use a pneumatic press and use the sheet metal under the hose.
Nice 👍 cool 😎 thanks for the viewing time today 🎉
Keith Richmond, the Merlin Guru!😎👍
Some thing I saw done that might help trimming the draft liner is an old jack plane blade .
عدمتك انت والمقطع تبعك
Great 👍 stuff 🦅
BEAUTIFUL... but the...music...
ahhhh but i like it! just mute it and enjoy the flights.
Totally unsporting falconry is supposed to be about the flight . Morons give us all a bad name
Loving your tutorial, filled with little gems of advice. Looking forward to building my first bow as I slowly get all the bits together. Thank you Dale...
At least have some sport and let the hare run especially in snow, just after the kill really
Killers not hunters sad
That’s some history for North America falconery.
Nice!
Hunting hare with snow is totally unfair.
Well done Dale. Pragmatic is always good. I am getting ready to build my first bow. It will be an Asian style primitive mid-evil design with both reflex and recurve hybrid form. I am going for an over all 64" using two 1/16" in laminates backed on both sides with .04" black fiberglass. The riser will be about 16" long made of domestic walnut. Looking to be about 40 lbs draw force at 28". Just a little ambitious for my first try at 80 years of age.
Its awesome your getting after it at 80 years young. need any help I'm at daleguthormsen@gmail.com
i live near the perfect ground for a merlin i watch them every winter rhubarb fields full of annual weeds in winter loads of shiflas linnets pipits and larks and their predators ever near paisley give a shout best wishes jj stewart
Уважаемый мастер,я мечтаю о луке,но дорого не могу купить
Excellent videos, my only recommendation is to have someone edit the videos, since portions of the video keep recycling and creating confusion.
Don’t know how long ago you made this video, but it’s probably the best I’ve seen on bow form construction. I look forward to watching the other ones
Built my first recurve bow in woodshop class in 1969. Shot my first deer with it in 1972. Set archery records at 15 and 20 yards in gym class in 1973, didn't know there were set records when we were doing the 10 yard shoot. After we finished the 10 yard shoot, the coach came up to me and told me that I had missed the school record at 10 yds by 3 points, "what record, I was screwing around, 10 yards was too easy". I then broke the 15 and 20 yd record easily.
your teaching days are showing, keep up the good work
Great videos
Dam the bad luck
Lots of talking :-)

I loved your video. Is it possible to get a email. Id like to try making my own bow. Would a long bow first be a better option for a first timer? Ive only shot those fiberglass bows 25 and 35lbs
Ken, Only the form will be a lot easier. Once the form is built it is not a dissimilar process. daleguthormsen@gmail.com
Thanks. Been thinking about building my own bow for a while. I think I will try it after couple of self bows or laminated pyramid bows.
Tnank you for tips, greetings from Slovakia.
Is Prairie Falcon being sarcastic? The music is really terrible! I would have preferred a sensible commentary. (from SW Scotland)
Dale, do you still make bows?
yes I do
Beautiful. OSH :-)
Nice hunt. OSH :-)
The falconer looks like Keith Richmond, probably the best Merlin Hawker in the state of California. OSH :-)
at 1:45, you can see loose feather. Slo mo shows it well
Beautiful Dale thanks!
Perfection. Again, love the music!
excellent filming in 4K, wonderful little bird perfect for flying in plain ..... alas I live in the subtropical Rocky Mountains ... just a flat ..... the bird and the falconer are they not too close to the road ??? this can give dramatic accidents to the bird
The falconer KNEW THE INTIMIDATED QUARRY WOULD ALWAYS PUT IN THE COVER BEFORE CROSSING THE ROAD. The falconer is highly skilled .
@@daleguthormsen8555 I have no doubt about the quality of the falcon and the falconer .... just since I saw the video that follows ..... I am very afraid to hunt near the road...ruclips.net/video/wkuo7-sefEQ/видео.html
love the music!
