Oh yes! This was uniquely covered...musically and vocally....So awesome! Deeply feeling! And....so cool the way Monica Green & Project Soul took ownership for such a classic tune! They did it their way...and it was excellent from original version - Jocelyn Brown and this one -- as well! Total grandeur!

This is a nice cover. You can’t compare the two because Ms. Brown has a big big big Bessie Smith/Lavern Baker style . This lady has a gospel voice and it’s nice .But that band is so light and fluffy I just couldn’t , thru don’t swing no type of way

Flawless! However, I still enjoy the original recording more. But to me, in my opinion this just shows how good the original recording is because this recording is flawless to me. Who doesn't enjoy a strong band? The horns, the piano/keys player, the bass, just flawless. But I'm biased to the original recording because even Jocelyn Brown can't do better to top herself when she recorded this song again. I love this song, Monica Green did a fantastic job on the lead vocals. I love that she took her time in the beginning that was beautiful.

The horns are a bit too gently tongued for the driven vibe this track normally has, and the bass is a bit too legato too. The keys are absolutely killer, and I think the lack of groove in the BV's is likely because of the laid-back approach the horns/bass are taking. Fantastic lead vocal performance, though. Started a little withheld to leave plenty of room to expand.
