My father in law always said “gas” like this. My wife and I never understood why but it was funny. We randomly saw the movie and were dying laughing at this scene. We are in our 40’s now so you can imagine how many times we’ve heard “gas”.

Upon seeing this again I just noticed something I failed to notice before-this is an Amoco gas station; I forgot about those, and Arco filling stations as well. Gone are the days of both of those babies, that’s for sure.

Richard Jaeckel played one of the three bad guys-Shepard-and Charles Martin Smith one of the "good guys", DJ, in Herbie Goes Bananas. So for that matter it seemed kind of strange to me to see their characters in this as "partners."

Xmastime 1984 was when this came out and I recognized Karen Allen right off the bat as Marion from Raiders of the lost ark three years before. Two of the cast members from Herbie Goes Bananas(summer 1980) are in this as well-Richard Jaeckel and Charles Martin Smith.

This scene has always remained embedded in my memory: Jenny: " I have to go to the bathroom, the restroom." (and it's obvious what Starman is tempted to say: "Define go to the bathroom'.) Jenny:"It's when a person has to...Ah, to tell with it, this one's too difficult and too embarrassing. You'll have to figure it out yourself." And just what he's thinking when he sees her enter the ladies' room:"I know how I can figure it out, I'll go in with her and she can show me." Jenny, as she escorts him out:"Sorry, you can't come in here." Starman:"Why not? Jenny:(points to the sign on the door):"Women, that's ME." Takes him over to the men's room and shows him the sign on THAT door:"Men-that's YOU."

Damn.. I was hoping to see him smile and wave at the guy at the urinal.

@stickmarshmike Figurative balls of steel. And, on technical terms, I am still correct - his terminal velocity, had he been carrying balls of solid steel, would've been higher than his terminal velocity without them. Gravity would have accelerated him at the same rate, but to a greater top speed.
