Okay so yeah former Switz's kid here... I actually planned on making a couple of videos, one on Switz's and one of Video King on my main channel. I went through the whole deal, witnessed the selling off of items when the store moved next to Champions fitness near East Circle Drive in Cicero... Now where Lowes' and such is. So, in 1993, We ended up buying this rolled up green carpet ( I mean we couldn't afford Oscar or the wolf in the log etc.. and somewhere in Crayon I wrote and illustrated a story about going there and seeing Oscar on his back and his price... I remember as a gag my brother and I put a clown wig on his crotch) BUT we ended up using the carpet in our basement in North Syracuse. I didn't think about it until years later when I kind of made a room down there and had a couple girlfriends, but I realized it was the carpet that they used for the cemetery in front of Oscar and probably other animatronic displays... So, in a way I lost my virginity on Oscar's yard... I always loved Halloween like many people but before the obnoxious "spooky season" trendiness. As an artist and some sort of machinist or maker, I'm usually messing around with macabre things and actually for the last 6-7 years have been working on a souped-up conversion van with a macabre design inside. Lots of custom woodwork and embellishments here and there so I like to play and "make". I too was on board for nostalgia and people stressing their minds on internet hunts and queries for an animatronic. As an adult I have found or collected some small artifacts from the store (a couple of real nice color photos on Syracuse Nostalgia were actually from my ex-girlfriend when we went to her aunts in Buffalo and found a photo album). I have some newspaper intended 8x10 photos that look amazing in person ( funny that Syracuse.com posted black and whites similar to mine for a story on the place not too long after I discovered some). A few other small things but ONE of the black and whites I have that look similar to the ones Syracuse.com used for their story Oscar actually has his eyes closed... I know that one does not exist anywhere that I've seen. I've thought about sending stuff to Syracuse Nostalgia but was saving a few of my modest items for my own video if I do it but I've been busy. I do like that you had a couple of photos I had not seen like Wagoner pushing him up the driveway or the one where the flash lit up the skeletons and not Oscar.. very creepy. I need all the reference photos I can get. The long and short of it. It's a building, a time, and a store that will not likely happen currently. The building and.. that time can't be happening right now. Variety stores have been long pushed out by Wal-Mart and other places... Craft stores sure, but even those are chains now. Where Oscar lives is in your childhood memories and in old photos. Time and place. As cool as it would be to find it? and even get the hydraulics working (I'm assumptive he's hydraulic mostly and not pneumatic not that it matters now)? Would it live up to the expectations? What is it worth to you? What would anyone be willing to give to see this again?

Hey, let me clear some things up regarding ''Oscar'' the ogre. I found this video through LSuperSonicQ's. I put a comment under his video but I thought I share it here too. The Heimotion company sold the ogres under the name ''Brutalo''. The ''German Oscar'' you mention is actually a different, much bigger model that was introduced in 1987 and the ''mini ogre'' next to it (just one) is a Brutalo a.k.a. Oscar (just in a sitting position instead of standing like at Switz's). That should put into perspective how much bigger the other one is. They could be found at the Godzillas Monster ghost train owned by Fellerhoff. There were also more Brutalos manufactured than just these two.

Where did those photos come from of Oscar in Germany with his brother?

The corn maze setting is amazing for how the animatronics can organically be hidden within! Really evokes an authentic, unsettling feeling.

When I saw the picture, I thought that one part would be through a corn field. Safe to say I was wrong. This is literally the best haunt I’ve ever seen. It’s not even a haunt it’s a walk through and it’s even better. Dude freakin amazing work this is absolutely incredible
