How to clean behind your bobbin case knife in a Viking Diamond, Ruby, Topaz or Sapphire www.facebook.com\cindysflyingpigstudio
This was SO helpful. It took a lot of panic away😮 Thank you! 😊
Thank you thank you thank you! In all the tutorials put out by Viking, none of them address this.
This video saved my sanity!!! I am working on a project for my daughters wedding (and time is passing too fast). Thank you - I was having a terrible bird's nest problem in text embroidery. and had to move to running stitch connection as opposed to the cutting between letter and it was making it slow and terrible to trim threads. I saw that thread was constantly getting stuck on the little hook and after watching this video, I was able to determine that the knife was knicked. Found one at the Viking Gallery near me and replaced it, cleaned it up and YAY!!!! I just did one whole block with lots of text and it worked. Thank you! Thank you!!
Information you provided helped me orient the bobbin case properly in my Husqvarna Sapphire 870 quilt.after cleaning out all the fuzz-balls. Way older machine, but principle remains the same. The clue I needed was pointing the' "bat-wings'" at the back of the machine. Dementia is on my heels. LOL Thank you !
lovely video!😀
I wonder if you could show us how to adjust the last thread guide that us just above the needle....mine got knocked up or back just enough to break my thread every time I go to thread my needle...I don’t know if I can push it down a little bit or if I should pull it forward or if I should just take it to the doctor which Is 45 miles away! It’s driving me nuts!
I love your video. However I just did the part where I take the knife blade out with the tweezers and I dropped it down inside the machine and I cannot see it it fell I believe to the bottom is there anything that I can do without having to take it in?
Great video, thanks. I was lost as to how to clean out the fuzz I could see!
Very helpful. Thank you.
The needle plate on my Husqvarna Viking Epic won’t re-insert. The front right corner cannot be pushed down to click in. (The single plate works perfectly.). How can this be resolved? Thank you.
Excellent demonstration. Thank you.
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful. I wish you would do a video on how to adjust the last thread guide that is at the top of the needle. Mine has been bumped out of place and I can not get the thread in it without breaking my thread....it is driving me nuts!
forgot to mention my machine is a Ruby Royale
You mentioned a small vacuum to clean the machine...why not show us a real one?
Compressed air works really well!
Compressed air does work, but unfortunately what you are doing is setting your machine up for failure. You are forcing the dust bunnies into the depth of your machine. This is where they can eventually work with the internal lubes to act like a sand paper and prematurely wear parts out or just pack tight and freeze things up. Not recommended.
Very helpful! Thought I had a timing issue, but it was a fuzz bunny issue! Thanks!
THANK YOU!
Fuzz bunnies! Sounds like a cool punk band. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you for the information on the knife cutter, all of a sudden it feels like the knife isn't cutting my thread, now I know how easy it is to take the knife our and replace it. I will call my dealer tomorrow.
Thanks so much, I could NOT figure out how to get that bobbin case back, you helped so much. Time to make more masks...
Awesome video! The blade came loose on the wife's sewing machine. Your video showed how to easily put it back in. Thank you!
Remember to change the knife blade.
Remember to change the blade. After 3-1/2 years after purchase, I changed mine 2 nights ago.
thank you so much!! go so nervous when the knife fell out
Wonderful studio. Pins holding bobbins on coned thread spools, fabric table trays for tools while sewing & lots of magnificent colors! Thanks, very refreshing!
Thank you! It worked for my Opal 960Q, too. Only problem I had after cleaning, was putting the silver pointed item just behind? the knife... for my cutter to work. Decided to just leave it out until I get my machine serviced later this year & cut threads the "old-fashioned " way!!! July, 2022: reviewed this video again... what I saw was the lint/fuzz left between the feed dogs & behind them, from the camera angle. Also, you can remove the bobbin case to really remove all of the lint/fuzz, drop 1 drop of sewing machine oil on the top edge of the case, then insert it back in (no bobbin, yet). Use the handwheel to make several revolutions, to spread the oil, where the plastic meets the metal. NOTE: Before you sew on any project, sew several feet of stitches (different lengths) on "practice fabric" to get any oil that may have been transfered during the cleaning/oiling process. Info from a trained sewing machine repair person, in the business >20 years!
Oh my gosh thank you so much I cleaned my Ruby viking an hour ago and I realized from your video I put the bobbin case in wrong. You just saved me a whole night of crying and frustration!!
Hello, Thank you for this wonderful video. I have an older Husqvarna Rose. Would it be a good idea to put a drop of oil in the center under the bobbin case? I know this manufacturer doesn't recommend oiling the machine but it is now more than 20 years old. I can't afford to have it professionally serviced. Thanks.
Professional servicing is more than just oiling. They clean up the inside of your machine and get rid of all those fuzz bunnies that have migrated further than you can reach with general cleaning as I have shown. As for the oiling, just a glisten of oil, rather than a full drop.
And Epic Guys! LOL I love this machine!
thank you so much ...i cleaned my epic right along with you...now i feel more comfortable doing it...
FYI - We are all not 'gals.' B-) And thx for a good informative vid.
Thank you very much for making the video. For future reference, the video did seem a bit dark and if it could have moved towards your left shoulder, I think we would have been able to see down into the machine a little bit more. That being said I found your voice and your explanations wonderful and it certainly made up for anything I couldn't see because I could see it on my machine while you were explaining it. Thank you again very much you helped me to get my machine back together. I love the part about the bat ears I will always remember that and that part will be incorrectly from this point forward.
My knife popped out last night and I couldn't figure out how to put it back in after searching the internet for an hour, I found your video. Thank you so very, very much.
thank you so much for this infortaion. I just happened to watch it and try it in my topaz 50. my machine stopped working and i got the message to clean under the thread plate, which I thought i had, but once I followed your instructions, it worked. so thank you
There is a L shaped piece behind the pressure foot in this image, it dropped into the machine... how do we get this out? Will it cause harm if we run the machine? (suspect yes is the answer for harm)
Thank you so much for this clear video. I had to take my knife out to remove a big clump of fluff after sewing fleece. I could not work out how to put it back until I viewed this excellent video.
Thank you! Great video!! My technician also taught me to turn the handwheel to rotate the bobbin housing area to really clean it up. Nice to know I have been doing it correctly
Thank you so much for taking the time to go through the steps. I did not know that you could get into the knife area to clean. This has been very helpful.
Thank you very much did not know how to clean the knife blade area.
Thanks for this clear video - I could see there was a lot of fuzz in there, but had no idea how to get it out until I saw this. All clean now, and hopefully, no more problems on my next blocks!
Use a vacuum is the proper way. Brushing will only brush the fuzz into the machine and accumulate it somewhere invisible.
I cannot thank you enough for this video. I was cleaning and my thread cut knife came loose and I thought I had broken something! Seeing how you moved the shroud out of the way, I was able to finally figure out how to reinsert the knife. What a relief!!!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you, I've had it stuck to the side of the machine for weeks wondering how to get in back in
I still haven't found any info on where the bobbin sensor is so that I can clean it when the bobbin sensor isn't working.
When I did this, the cutting blade fell inside my machine in an area I cannot see or access. It’s now at the shop so that the technician can extract it for me.
Thanks for the info. I used Q tips with my D1. Would get tons of lent out
Also used make up brushes that I got when buying Clinique makeup. They work great
I appreciate you doing this so very much. I thought I had been cleaning mine and she was acting up. Seeing this I have realized that I really haven't been "cleaning" her but doing more of what my Grandmother would call a spit bath to the face. She was really dirty deep in there. About to fire her up again and see if there are still troubles.
Thanks so much!! I had a whole 'nother spool of thread fibers hiding in all those places!!
Thank you for this video. I learned how to keep it even cleaner.
This was so helpful. Thank you
fair to say that my bobbin well was a garbage can
Can't tell you how many times I've been told by employees at the shop I bought my machine "Blow it out" when asking about the sensor for the bobbin. I'd sure like to know what exactly to do to keep it clean enough that the sensor would consistently work for me.
