Being new to DX'ing FM, I got some things wrong during the contact (Lance's name), but things are looking up. Still exciting to find a new use for the old radio. I'm not certain exactly how many watts that I'm putting to the antennas. Maybe 60 or 70. I'll have to check what my power out is on FM... 492 Sioux Falls Mobile

@@321CatboxWA What do you mean?
@captainmidnight5958 aren't they all like that?
@captainmidnight5958 I'm kidding , so what's next . Is it like that to this day?
@captainmidnight5958 I'm struggling with a pair of 3300's .
@@321CatboxWA A local Prepper here where I live told me he was watching my signal. ... I said, "Oh yeah? What's it doing?" I know: I post some of the stupidest shit. I've got that damned Prepper-dude in another video somewhere, blowing his radio (Icom 7300) up. That dude was something else. I never heard back. I've never heard from him since.
What's the secret ?
I What's the secret mod?
The Console V had a scanner feature I really liked. Back in those days the cb band was SOOO busy You had to search for a quiet channel to talk on. The Console V didn't scan for a busy channel, it scanned for a quiet one.
I still have my 4022 in my car today. The noise suppression and filtering in unbelievable! It puts modern day CBs to shame. Still puts of 4 watts with great modulation. I will NEVER get rid of this thing.
Very beautiful radio, and I also have a yaesu ft 707 radio at home ☺️🖐️👍👍
Absolutely love this could I have possibly how far apart do you have the whips and what are you using for cold-phased coax? Is it 75 ohms and do you have it set up where it splits off and then you have it on each radio your upper radios for the center core and then your shield for your lower ground rods or radials?
Thanks for the interest. It's my version of John Winegards "MB-27 MULTI-BEAM" phased array antenna from 1960. Originally designed for the television RPU Band at 26MHz. Phasing is variable and remotely controlled. It can be used in Omnidirectional, Bi-directional or Directional depending on how it's phased, all remotely controlled from the operating position. Both antennas are independently and continuously driven based on phasing and pattern desired. Element separation is 4'. The phasing harness has multiple tuned stubs within the boom that includes multiple variable impedance matching networks that are switched remotely. Impedance varies from 20-150 ohms unbalanced. It's balanced at 52 ohms. Bandwidth at its designed frequency is 9MHz if I remember right. I have it mounted in a fixed position on a balcony for this video, but it would benefit use of a rotator when used directionally. Some day I would like a stack of ...more of them. I envision 4 sets of stacked pairs, with each stacked pair on a rotator and all four stacks rotated as one antenna in a steerable array. ...someday.
Nice mobile station, what antenna are you using?
Over complemented machine. Get a power magnet mini.
😂😂😂 Steve, just give up the hobby. Your squeaky voice is annoying as f*ck
Ancient equipment😂 Terrible setup, you couldn’t even route the coax and power cables. You lard a$$es are just lazy bums and it’s hilarious‼️😝
Another useless channel, and that’s saying the least.☑️😂
Lmao, man you need to upgrade your lifestyle. This place is a dump and that station of yours is a JOKE😂
This is a barsteward. This problem took me two days to fix. But fix it Idid. You need a 'scope or VTVM. Lovely wireless none the less. Bw Mike.
Well gee... you couldn't tell us what you tracked the fault down to by any chance could you?
The problem on my 707 was low output from the VFO itself. Insufficient signal level to lock the counter. Remove the VFO completely. Sniff around the PCB just after the oscillator. This is to be found in the potted area of the VFO PCB. A small signal transistor was the culpritt in my case. I had to remove the potting compound with a scalpal to break the defective component free. ALL THE WORK must be done without disturbing all other potted components. Hence the time taken. Without a scope or VTVM dont even try to undertake such a repair. Bw Mike.@@MrZerohour1967

No audio
this is graphs showing data going across specific frequencies ? Is this ham radio stuff ?
Cant wait for the audio!
No audio coming. I mistakingly turned the audio Off before I started recording and did not realize it.
Was there going to be an audio version, also what is the nature of the anomaly?
There was going to be a reuploaded version with the audio. I thought that had a software conversion issue, when in fact I unintentionally had the audio turned Off at the capture software when recording. I didn't realize that I had it Off when recording.
Hello, im the operator you spoke with from washington state this morning. "WA823" this is some crazy stuff 🤔 and very interesting. Thank you so much for posting .
Hey, HI! I'll be re-uploading this video shortly. For some reason the audio did not take when I converted it. But we're all in there. Check back in a day or so and I should have the re-upload posted. Yes a very strange day with this part of the spectrum. I'm still not clear as to what it all was about.
I've now realized after many attempts of converting the MKV file over to MP4 that it was not the software failing to produce the audio upon conversion. I had inadvertently turned the audio Off at the capture software, thinking it was my external microphone that allows me to annotate on top of the video screen capture. I apologize. I really wanted you fellas to hear yourselves in there.
You could use an AI like Riffusion to convert the image data to audio.
Thanks man , been through many of these rolling machines, always bought new till now. I just used an old refrigerator magnet placed in the proper spot , problem solved. You da man ! 👍👍
I have the same problem. I don't know what to do. Have you not yet resolved It?
What program are you using on the tablet for it to work Thanks
You are a genius!!! Thanks to your help I fixed my tobacco machine...Thank you from Spain
I tightened the nuts a 1/2 a turn and that worked for me.
Wow ! Had been going crazy trying to roll a cigarette ! What an amazing and super easy fix. Thank you so much for posting 🤩
Yep , now you can see it thinking .
I just did this and used masking tape until I built up enough to shim it and it works great now!!!!! It was jambing up on every cig and couldn't get a full one for anything. I agree the grease guy is a freaking joke, cigs are bad enough without smoking the grease.
Glad it worked for you. 👍 If the tape compresses and it becomes increasingly difficult again, just replace the built-up tape with a piece of metal that won't compress. The pivoting wear will still continue to increase over time, so we just increase the shim thickness over time to counter it. 👍
Indeed your Absolutely Right.. I have the AR-3500 100 version.. The history of this radio is fascinating, Sam Lewis and others involved in it's development was special, I'll have to take mine out of dry dock and get r going again..
I ran dual 102s off the rear quarter panels on my old wagoneer with great results. Very directional pattern great for DX if you can aim at where you talk . At highway speeds they bend way back skewing the polarity towards the horizontal I imagine .
Since that video was made, I further developed that into a phased array consisting of 5 antennas in total.
phony, cop want to be never will be.
How iffy are they my dad has one and he says it's really hard to use is that true??
Werry nice radio
Was this this the reason Motorola was in the CB business still ?
Not sure what you mean.. This, the 4022, predates the Mocat, but is the radio that the Mocat is derived from. It has built in speech compression, power mic, TVI filtering, noise suppression, automatic RF Gain... It's a trickle-down result of their commercial two-way experience. The mic plug, for example, could be disassembled with a ballpoint pen. It wasn't a inexpensive radio when new. Motorola had some very fancy stuff lined up for the CB market that was never produced, due to that market crashing within the next couple of years. Nearly every American manufacturer of CB's went under shortly after this radio.
@@captainmidnight5958 I know a lot of departments use a certain brand. I know Motorola was the go to for public safety and outfitting them with Motorola CB radios on top the the Motorola police radios they used. I remember when they came standard in my area for all police cars.
@@EricTechstuffs Yeah, I don't have a definitive answer for that. I only worked for a Motorola RSS back in the mid-80's for a brief time, so I'm not sure what they installed for Citizens Band. I had never installed CB into any law enforcement vehicles that I dealt with at that time. I suspect that Motorola certainly had the thought of the 4022 being the radio of choice for those agencies that wanted CB capabilities though. They've had the lock on municipal comm's for as long as I've been alive. Smaller, less populated areas might've had their radios been something other than Motorola, but competing with them has always been a uphill battle. This 4022 is a great radio out of the box. Regular CB'ers never liked them because they couldn't modify them in their usual ways, when in reality regarding eithers stock performance, it makes a Cobra 29 act like a lame duck.
Do you know how to connect to 148gtl
Without having a 148 to test with, no.
Apparently they are high altitude balloons from Raven. What they're actually doing, ...only they know.
One of the two is up there again today, just west of the sun. The second one may be inline of my direct view of the sun. The solar panels on the one that I see are clearly evident.
I just noticed them this evening, but i don't have any binoculars to check them out! somebody Please tell me what they are!
TVZ??, what is this?
It's a US Ham who was booted from the 10-10 Organization years ago that still holds a grudge against the outfit. He broadcasts his call endlessly on 28.425 because of it.
RANGE ?
There's a lot of factors involved in giving a figure for that. To avoid the mess of controversy, I should refrain from giving any figures on range, but I'll throw caution to the wind and trust my fellow Operators. With 125W PEP SSB, my best local point-to-point contact is 90 miles. With 40W carrier AM, I routinely talk up to 25 miles. Again, there are a lot of factors involved in coming up with a workable range figure.
Check IC2 voltages per the SM. You will will probably be crazy over voltages...like many of mine. deaf or too sensitive.
I'm slightly high. I've been slightly high on the voltage more times than not, but I do very little local work. I turned it up a bit more to where I use to about where I use to keep it. I had originally used a second VR in the meter to tame it down when I mocked it up, but decided against installing it when I turned the voltage back down, thinking that I could always add it later. Now, I think I'll leave the factory meter where it's at and put a fixed resistor in the meter at a Local/DX switch. I'll just switch it In to scale it back. But, ...understand that 455 in Georgia is running a 6 element beam and 1Kw that has nowhere near a power supply that is capable of sustaining his amplifier for anything more than a handful of seconds at a time. That's his transmitted audio as a result. He starts out fairly clear and his audio degrades into a horrible mess the longer he keeps it all keyed-up. He's running one of those computer power supply homologated things with some batteries.
@@captainmidnight5958 That amp won't last long for him running like that ! You your external meter is pretty awesome with the logo and all I like it better than the factory LEDs !
@@EricTechstuffs Yeah, he goes down onto 6 and tries to fit in... 🙄 ... I think that if Clear Channel would've made an external meter like this, it would've sold well-enough to justify the R&D, additional manufacturing cost, etc.. Fortunately, this many years later, I'm able to whip something up fairly easily with a computer at home.
That was my very first CB radio base station in 1976. It worked very well and I liked the squelch for the same reason as you. I would just have a little bit of radio noise in the background. It sat on a nightstand next to my bed.
Very Nice
