I do believe brushy bill was the kid. He just knew so much about conversations that took place and letters between women and places that were proved to be correct. A lot day at the end of his life he made mistakes and got dates and other things wrong , heck he was 90 years old.

This guy who claimed to be Billy the kid use to vote for my granddad for road commissioner. My father would pick him up to go vote. This was in 1945 at the time my dad was 14 years old. Brush bill Roberts was a old man at the time. He told my dad a lot stories how he was billy the kid. Of course at that age you will believe anything. My grandad sister thought brushy bill Roberts was a crazy old man. Her husband believed he was billy the kid. At that time the town of hico thought he was a crazy old man. Now they have made him a hero. My personal opinion I don't believe he was the real deal.

That's what I've always said if Pat Garret killed Billy, he would have been put on display like a trophy, Pat Garret would have so much fame it just doesn't make sense for him not to do that, all the other famous outlaws was put on display, so why not Billy ?.. the famous one of all.
