1500 sq minimum for legal home???? That's horrifying. I thought our 600 sq ft was too big. If they (whoever 'they' are), want to solve the housing crisis, they're going to have to make it easier.

Reasons 1 through 6: Six children in the household. I live in a 10 x 12 pre-built wooden shed that was constructed with interior wall covering in mind. It's well insulated and has been my home for the last two winters. The rest of the year, I live in a similar sized concrete block building that sits under a lot of shade. There's a square hole in a wall that divides the structure into a main area and a 2-foot-wide escape route since it used to be a safe room inside a house in Oklahoma. I have a window AC in that opening and the rest is boarded off with rigid foam. The compressor rarely kicks in because I am usually gone from 3pm to 2am. My biggest challenge is the seasonal relocation of my bed and desk. My budget is insane. Life costs about $600 per month and I take home about $3000 per month. It was work getting to this point but only part time over the course of 3 years. I don't have any of the 6 reason I listed for not going tiny. I drove a truck for a living for 19 years so each of my buildings is a mansion in comparison. I work in an industry that affords me a very low food budget. Because of this, I have 110 pounds of top quality meats in my freezer. I live close enough to a solar retailer that I was able to put together a system that allows me to electrically cook all my meals without an electric bill. Fortunately, my municipality has made a bad decision regarding a water main break in the past so I'm being left alone with my solutions for waste disposal and natural water sourcing. I think my life is pretty awesome.

I could do tiny home if it was on my own property and I had at least 2 sheds. No kids lol as Im speaking from expierence. You gain things as time goes on and you need to be able to have somewhere to store your crap especially if you are a do it yourselfer. Also if you have any homesteading plans you really need space.

Trying to live inside, an overgrown dolls house. With the aging unemployed obesity problems that surround us etc. The average single person, let alone the perfect couple, or family. Should be actively on the hunt, for a vastly larger, mansion style home, where every room in the place, is as giant as can be. With the house built on, Glorious acerage monumental landscapes, by the meadows fill. We as human beings, need more of these larger sized homes on even greater properties. With then these properties being made much more affordable for the average person, to get. By making small instalment payments, instead of huge amounts in rent. As after one tenant passes away, and the home, us then left to any adult children. Once a fresh decision, is finalised as to who and when. Then, the next generation family member, can resume, taking over the repayments on any previously occupied housing. ✝️

I cant believe how exp they are now. We bought a 13ft caravan for $1200 and an annex made for $2000 in 1990.We traveled around Australia for our honeymoon which lasted for 2 years . I loved it but as you said I think we would have gone crazy if it wasn't for the new surroundings to explore, the various jobs we had and the wonderful people we met.

We don't have a tiny home, but we recently bought a small apartment (48m2). Two things make it ideal for us. Firstly, as it's a (relatively) new build, the rooms are all complete rectangles. May seem weird, but not having random walls jutting into my space or slopes or weirdly angled walls is super relaxing. It's also easier to plan out our space and manoeuvre around furnishings. Secondly, we have an 11m2 covered balcony. That's almost a quarter of our flat space! As it's covered, we can be out there in all weather and I got a cute little rocking bench for it. Really assists with any cabin fever. We are in the process of constructing storage right now (as there is none outside of the kitchen cabinets) and are budgeting to allow a floor to ceiling, sliding door situation in the hall. It'll hide our washing machine, as well as the bundle of pipes we have and create a space to hang jackets and store shoes (as well as linens, suitcases and similar). Downsizing our belingings has been very cathartic and we really treasure the items that are remaining with us.

The issue of space to park your tiny home is one that I always think of when watching videos about these dwellings. Mostly these (in many of said videos) are parked on the land of the parents, friends or relatives. But that assumes that one has such folks who have the money to have land. Thus, the whole, "it only cost practically nothing" thing is bollocks because it isn't taking into account the land cost. And this puts most of these houses in rural areas which means one must take into account costs of cars and fuel. I have an off the grid house in Canada and the nearest town is 25 miles away. That's 50 miles round trip for every serious purchase. That costs also.

One of the things I landed upon was the resale value or lack of. I discovered it was like buying a car, an RV, immediately depreciated and all point to the issues as discussed on this video. Where I live and wanted to live when considering a Tiny Home, was basically the price and the codes. Price per square footage compared to a small "stick built" home was astronomical. It all came down to dealing with all the many issues and what I got for the money. It is not an investment. Finding a buyer later and the challenge of relocating as you said presents another issue. Resell is not favorable. I could find a normal house for the price of the tiny home. Even a fixer upper for less. I personally could not justify any reason for having one. Not rich enough to throw away my money. Just a huge challenge but most of all, I don't think I could live in one for an extended period of time. The amount for temporary living would defeat the purpose. Great video.

There always have been mobile home communities better known as trailer parks. Calling them tiny homes is just a clever marketing trick. How many products can you think of where they were simply given some new packaging a different name, a different look or style or perhaps a different taste and passed off as the next best thing.

Beyond the common-sense and obvious reasons, I never got the tiny home as a solution or an option. If you're going to live in a small space, why not have it on wheels and take advantage of the mobility? In other words, get an Airstream or similar trailer. Fully self-contained, better made with better venting than most tiny homes (certainly more weather-proof).

For humidity control you need a fresh air inlet pipe or vent. 6 inch at least. This lets fresh air in so your exhaust fans can blow out the damp air from washing, cooking and breathing. The exhaust fans should operate on a timer for sufficient intervals to keep things under control.

It really depends on who is buying it.....sone folks dont save anything, dont find home as heart felt and some just work all the time or whatever n want a clean place to crash.. ..if one is retired it could be perfect . Find land like I own, no codes, no rules ...buy a large shed and fix it permanently on land where no codes are or a mobile home park ...

I would struggle in a tiny home. I rented a 300 square-foot converted garage for 11 months, and when the pandemic hit and the weather sucked, I had no choice but to stay indoors, and I started getting panic attacks and claustrophobia. I’m willing to sacrifice other things in my life (for example, renting rather than owning) for having a larger space, because the smaller space was so detrimental to my mental health. That said, I am all about minimal living and getting rid of stuff you don’t need. I love a good cull!
