Antique Saw Restoration with Basic Tools
Oddly therapeutic! I've been doing this with some of my dads old tools I got when he passed. Lovevild hand tools
did not show stopping off before spray painting
This is definitely not how to clean a SAK, maybe good ASMR for some people but that’s about it.
Fuera de broma 😢 siento pena por el calibre, lo mas raro es que al mostrar la toma de medidas como diámetro y profundidad lo hizo con la herramienta al revés 😅
Ugh!...
Great work, esp on that broken handle.
Thanks. Quick and fast and this tool can be used hopefully. 👍🏼
Very nice job of restoration. Beautiful wooden plane. Thanks for a great video.
please take this as constructive criticism. Never back bevel a chisel, it's not an axe. Instead of trying to remove that pit on the flat bottom of the chisel with a back bevel, try regrinding the face of the bevel until you are past the pit on the bottom. Once the bottom is flat all the way to the edge, you can begin putting the final bevel on the face. That way, instead of skating across the wood in the end, it would take clean slices. All of this comes with experience and practice. A bench grinder would make short work of the job, otherwise hours on a good stone will get you there as well.
Beauty is right below the Rust...Great Job....Gorgeous Transformation...Beautiful...
Face it right make it into a ratchet and leave a gap for a tiny grey square to fit inside it and use it as cover for the knight so the prehistoric eagle with a E behind it with the middle horizontal line on the E is a small penis that can't get it up can eat the ratchet thanks the plan for today 😂
show !!!
Is there anyone here to tell me please?
Without inspecting it, it's hard to say but possibly the linkage that connects the shift key to the carriage has come loose, you would have to take the cover off and look at the mechanism to check. It's 4 screws underneath and two ontop if you have a tippa.
Can you help me? My roller doesn't lift up while pushing shift. What does that mean?
You can open it to find out the cause, maybe something has come loose or broken. Good luck
Looked better unpainted
Is that WD40 you sprayed in the segment? Did you use another solvent to flush the segment?
Yes, that was WD40. no did not used another solvent. thank you for the question.
@@restorationandrepair6013 experts say WD40 can be used to free the segment but should be flushed out or else the machine will gum up.
@@AtelierDBurgoyne thank you for the information
great job ............wow
Again nice work...enjoyed it. Thanks.
Truly amazing 👍👍
Nice repair...they are not making such handtools nowadays. Thanks!
Nice well done...the chisel is as new!
Thank you
Super! You are like a doctor man😉😉😉
Coffee and CA glue would have been great to fill and glue the cracks in that dark handle!! Got the idea from wood turners fixing their cracks in their projects. Just a suggestion for your future projects Great looking restoration and you did a wonderful job restoring it also!! Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you for the comment and the tip.
Comments on any special tips would be appreciated, thank you. Was that like a plastic dip paint and why didn't you use a primer for better paint bonding? Mine were rusted too badly and wobbled excessively to be almost useless -tried solder to take up the slop/slack. Helped but still not perfect, any ideas on how to take up all the slop?
I wanted to keep the markings on the handles readable, so used just one layer of good paint. If they are too worn then it's not worth the effort. Good luck.
@@restorationandrepair6013 Very logical. Thanks for the replies and keep giving those oldies but goodies new life.
Looks great and a fine job restoring it Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

Nice old Grundig...fun to repair these items. Thanks
That is a special useful saw, you did it very well 👍
Well done. These knifes are well made swiss quality.
Looks like your going to have lots of fun with your new toy 👍
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
1st comment 😁
Nice one 👍
Magnifique !
Super😘
That handle sure has seen better days. Someone just had a iron rod a piece of wood and a cut out of a copper pipe and made a screwdriver. It looks like the first time you find a stuck screw that handle is just going to break into pieces. Sorry I don't have anything good to say about this one. The only reason I see for restoring it is a family member made it other than that it should go into the trash Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
wow great job
When I first saw that handle I would have thrown it away. But you made it out nice. what was going on with it. good restoring. Thanks
It was partly eaten by woodworms. Thank you
Looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it!! Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you
Instead of grinding it. You should of separated the actual head and handle and then sandblast it and then grind to a fine polished form.
I wanted to keep the old look and maintain the beautiful wood.
The handle is crawling with wood worm, I get it about keeping it original but i would of replaced it.
I thought you might have straightened up the end otherwise looks good 👍
The end of the blade has a crack and did not want to take a large piece off so left it this way. Thank you for watching
