Hi, In an ideal world all bags would stand up on their own. However, it depends on the design. The beautiful clasp on the Croisette makes it front heavy, so it's difficult for it to stand up on its own when it's empty. When it has all of your things in it, if you put the heavier things towards the back it helps to balance the weight on the front. 😊
