Psychiatrists aren't the only providers with prescribing privileges. PMHNPs also have prescribing privileges.

Good info. I am a Psychologist...PsyD. When folks want to get a Masters degree...I strongly recommend the MSW/LCSW. Lots of opportunities in medical facilities...psychiatric hospitals...and private practice. By far the best...

I’m a masters in clinical research and am deciding to pursue a new field in counseling as I have such a passion for helping in the fight against mental illness and contributing to de-stigmatizing. I have a question about supervised hours. You mentioned that MFTs start these hours during their coursework, unlike with SWs. Does this apply to LPCC too? Will these programs get us started with supervised hours while in the LPCC program as well? Thank you in advance. Thanks/Sam

I don't like the idea of labeling states. I think the labeling of states would have a negative effect on the client.

Hands down the best explanation of the master-level programs I’ve found, thank YOU!! I am debating between LMFT and LPC. At least, now I am clear on what is what. Honestly, the MFT curriculum looks much more interesting to me than LPC’s (it is broader too), but having to clock less hours after grad school is VERy appealing. Curious if in the private practice setting, does pay differ if you are LPC or LMFT?? Awesome video, will watch some more. 👏🏼❤️

So this is my situation: I am interested in forensic psychology but few programs offer a track to licensure. I want to work in juvenile justice and counsel juveniles and their families to help the minor from relapsing in the system. I know I will not be going into a PsyD program because I have to work, and most PsyD/PhD programs require full time study which will not work for me. So after my research I came up with this: apply to a MA clinical psych program w/ MFT emphasis so I can get licensed as a LMFT and/or LPCC. This way I get a license to do psychotherapy to work with kids and families; get my hours in to sit for the exams, and then get a second masters in forensic psychology or forensic behavior analytics so I can enhance my specialization :)
