Drive through Aspen Springs near Pagosa Springs, Colorado
This is a drive through the Aspen Springs community near Pagosa Springs, Colorado. We start at Hwy 160 and drive up to Aspen Springs Unit 6 to the gated Oak Hill Ranches subdivision. We drove up to the neighborhood via Indian Land Road, and returned via Cat Creek Road.
Aspen Springs is divided into six units, labeled Aspen Springs 1 through 6, comprising thousands of lots that were initially platted in the 1960s. Roads are mostly unpaved. The landscape features aspen and pine trees, with some properties offering mountain views. Water is primarily sourced from individual wells or people haul water to cisterns. Some residents use solar power for off-grid living. Aspen Springs has no protect...

Located at an elevation of 8,776 feet, the fire tower on 8 Mile Mesa, located near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, was originally built in 1941 as a 14'x14' wooden cabin on stilts. Adorable. I once had a small horse named Snickers. With his prehensile lips, he could open the chain/slot closure on the small arena gate. Then, before he walked out, he would tell all the other horses, usually three or four, “Hey, gate’s open.”😂
Sounds like these two would be buddies. Snickers sounds like a hoot.

Any experts who can identify what type of hummingbirds these are? We think either Broad-tailed or young Rufous, but are not sure which. This is in SW Colorado at about 7,250 feet in elevation in the mountains.

There is no way l could foster a baby and have to give it up...l would adopt immediately..l don't have the heart to give them up..
I get it!! They are so cute and the sweetest little babies. But by giving them up, I can make room to help again with a new litter of puppies! Plus I know they all go to great homes, and I sometimes see them out and about. :-)

Foster puppy? I think they are all foster puppies. unless you gave birth to a liter of pups. Still cute and makes me mad I can't sleep like that.
Yes, she is from a litter of puppies I fostered until they were old enough to be adopted. They were abandoned at 2 weeks old and had to be bottle fed. They all are doing great! Wish I could sleep like that too! :-)

Used to snowshoe with my heelers when they were young. They kept walking on the snowshoe tails causing me to faceplant in the powder.

How was the weather and the trail? I'm going there on friday.
We were there on Friday, April 5th (less than a week ago) and the weather was fabulous. It was sunny and mid-60s during the day. The trail/road is in good shape. See our post at rvhive.com/crosby-canyon/ that has more details about the route and photos. Have a great trip!
