Definitely NOT 1991. I was employed by Ivan to run the photofinish system for this race meeting, and I didn't start working there until the end of 1993. So this has to be 1994 or possibly 1995.
For the record, the Addington Raceway is officially 1193.6 metres long. Its a pity that there are very few specialist long track speedways in NZ and Australia any more and that meetings such as these have to be run on trotting tracks to get the required length of at least 800 metres.
I first met Ivan major 1970 Costa Mesa fairgrounds, I was new to speedway as a spectator fan but was blown away by the speed full throttle all the way around every lap I've been major would ride that little track it was amazing. An old friend of mine father built Ivan major it's been way bike frame out of titanium and had it nickel-plated as a gift his name was Fuji Yonahara master welder and would have Ivan over for dinner often. This was back in the day that the Euros came here during their off season and we here in the US would go over yonder and race against the Euros I'm sure you've all heard of Bruce penhall hehehe good times good memories peace

Hare Krishna I remember going to speedway in the late seventies and watching Reading Racers with Jessup and J Davis
