Landscape Architecture in China over the last 20 years has been a race to design largely for aesthetics, often unsustainable and hard to maintain as climate change and economic issues dampen investment and resources become more scarce and extreme weather causes more threats.
Over the last 20 years in China I've been designing places for nature, ecology and striving to balance places for people and nature. Looking ahead, I ask myself, 'are we driven by clients to design landscapes predominantly for people and for scenic value?' In the age of climate change, biodiversity loss and economic challenges, should we not focus on healing the impacts of the Anthropocene?

I've been having neck and shoulder pains for 10days and it's wearing me out. It inspired my first attempt ever to sing Dylan's 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door'. I added reverb / backing vocals for a bit more room outdoors as it was recorded live on my (tiny) balcony.

Another song written in Sheffield around 1997 after a walk in the evening city. About making (the right) choices in life. Lyric references to 'Walk on By' (Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach) and 'One' by U2 but more of a chirpy-happy song. There's a whistling solo in this recording and some kitschy video and sound effects added for light-hearted fun (including fake crowds)!!
