Nice Steamboat Benchy in 2h:15m on Rat Rig V-Minion
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 года назад
I wanted to print a high-quality Steamboat Benchy, but got cold feet when I saw the print time using the SuperSlicer normal profile. So I speeded up to 240mm/s for perimeters and 300mm/s for infill, and upped the acceleration to 8000mm/s^2. I expected to get a mediocre quality print, but was very pleasantly surprised by how well it came out. I’m sure with a little work I could get substantially...

15:47 Benchy in PLA on the Rat Rig V-Minion

Gradually turning up the speed on my slightly modified Rat Rig V-Minion. This is a 15:47 minute test 3DBenchy in PLA (time is as reported in Mainsail). Speed: 800mm/s Acceleration: 25k mm/s^2 Max x jerk: 20 mm/s Max y jerk: 15 mm/s Square corner velocity: 10 mm/s Input shaper for y-axis only at this point. I've not set up an ADXL345 for the x-axis yet (I'm likely to use a separate accelerometer...

V-Minion: Moderately-Fast Benchy
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 года назад
I’m getting my Ratrig V-Minion dialed in and decided to try a moderately-fast Benchy. The machine is the stock full kit with pressure advance and y-axis input sharping set up (no x-axis yet). This is a clip from a 20 min Benchy printed in Craftunique PLA. Max speed is 200mm/s and 15k mm/s^2 accel. Clearly more cooling is needed (I’m exploring upgrades for that), but apart from that showing up o...

First Print with Polymaker PolyTerra Filament
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 года назад
Test print using the new PolyTerra PLA from Polymaker. Printed on a Craftbot Flow IDEX. This is a 50% scale print for a toy rocket I’m working on for my son. The full print is going to need 3-4kg of the black and probably quite a lot more of the red and white. I’ll be loading two spools and printing in IDEX parallel printing mode to speed up what’s going to be a many-day print. I was going to u...

Is the size shrinkable? Like reduce the size by 50%
This is a 150% scale print. I printed smaller versions first, but I can’t remember how small I went (maybe 2/3rd scale?). If you go too small the feet adhesion may be the first thing to fail (unless you use a good bed adhesive or a brim/mouse ears).
This dragon is my favorite one
Really nice dude can u tell me what printer it is please
Thanks! The printer is a Craftbot Flow IDEX
Man that song is fire!
You make beautiful products
I have this dragon
I have a question, my articulated dragons always have their joints fused together so they can’t move How do I fix that?
Could be caused by elephants foot (over-squeezing of the first layer). A lot of modern slicers have elephants foot compensation options. Or you could try the old-fashioned approach of better dialing in of your first layer offset and flow. It might also be over-extrusion for all the other layers. The simplest fix is to apply an x/y compensation in the slicer which pulls in the outer perimeter slightly. Which slicer are you using?
@@JonS I’m using creality slicer
I have a tiny blue one
thank god for the mute button
Hello! Beautiful dragon! I have been thinking aobut getting into 3d printing myself and was curious what kind of 3D printer this is!
This is a Craftbot Flow IDEX. It's a commercial printer. If you're interested in getting in to 3D printing there are a lot of great options in 2024 at reasonable price points (of course, "reasonable" depends on your budget). You should start with asking what do you want to do with the printer? That will inform you what materials you want to print with (PLA, PETG and TPU can be printed on an open printer; ABS, ASA, and nylon really need an enclosed chamber printer. It will also inform you of what build volume you need.
Did you need supports for this?
No supports are needed for this model. I doesn’t even need infill so long as you have sufficient perimeters.
Cheers!
Wow jon 1.2 million views that's crazy
I know from you always thinking everything is benchy that you really like benches i tried to find a 3d benchy articulated dragon but i couldn't do you know if there's any designs anyone can you send jon a link to print if anyone finds one
That's a beautiful dragon. Be awesome if it was done in metal (gold, silver, copper, steel?)
That might be possible with the high metal-content filaments (like Virtual Foundry) that print a "green" part that you then debind and sinter in a kiln. Difficult to do with different melting-point metals though. Even if a single metal, getting a flexi model like this to work after the shrinkage could be hard.
.6 with a .4 nozzle I see that you said your printing slow at 40mm does that help with the extra amount of plastic your trying to push out the nozzle? my first dragon came out like shit and my Benchy / Cali dragon using the same settings came out good. I did a .42 width with a .4 nozzle and I am running .28 Layer height I do print fast 80mm but I really didn't think my settings would come out as bad as it did.
The printer has Volcano-like nozzles so has plenty of flow, but I find it hard to get a very shiny finish if I print silks faster. I've printed silk filaments at up to 400mm/s on my V-Minion, but I've not managed to get it as shiny as here. Generally, printing slow means shinier, even for non-silk filaments. You can see this when printing fast Benchies where the shininess changes at different z heights due to the printer slowing down when there's a minimum layer time set.
I 3d printed this
Omg we have the same but the top is yellow but it doesn't matter and my dragon horns is broken

Какой пластик использовать для такого дракона
Радужный шелк PLA
Did you print it without supports
Yes. It doesn’t even need infill.
me knowing that it’s from a website and having that print color
❤❤
I would pay you to make an anatomically correct shark one of these, and send it to me ngl
love this song what's it called
AMAZING!
7*888!9
#underrated
How much grams of filliment did it take
Qual filamento é esse?
Matterhackers Rainbow Build Series PLA, mas também já usei Sunlu Rainbow Silk PLA+.
Is it soft?
Did you set a max flow in your slicer? 15mm³/sec
SuperSlicer has a max. volumetric flow field. I've not properly tested to see what the max flow is. It should be more than 15mm^3/s with the CHT nozzle I'm using.
Hi John can you share you profile from slicer please? I'd like to try on my minion also
O-how-o-how?
48 hours! o_O
this song bro.
What temperature and retraction settings did you use?
Great job Well done 💝🐲🐉🔥🔥🔥
How do you print multi color things like that?
Rainbow filament. It slowly changes color throughout the spool.
isssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
How did you end up with what looks like perfect layer color balance? I assume the filament changes color at various places.. its like whatever filament you chose worked perfectly for this print.
@@deadline8416 yes, I printed large and chose the number of perimeters to get a good transition distance in z. I did also play with using the infill density to get a good transition. This model doesn't even need infill to print. Some later ones I did, I turned off infill and added a perimeter (for child proofing).
What kind of printer is this?
Craftbot Flow IDEX
stl please😱🤩😍
It's available from the design using the link in the description.
I can’t find the link in the description for where to purchase the .stl
Sangat cerdas & kreatip buat Naga.
Ini bukan desain saya. Saya hanya senang mencetaknya.
Why no raft or anything
It doesn’t need one so long s as you have good bed adhesion (it does suck if a foot comes loose near the end of a print). It’s worth noting this model also doesn’t require any infill either.
Can you please send me one of the dragons the one that changes colors in daylight
