Currently recording on a chaotic schedule, then scheduling publication to smooth it out a bit; also, currently pushing to use Linux rather than Windows, where possible. Game selection is "at my whim" (but I listen to friends ;)
My main goal is to make archival footage of my favorite games, because I no longer have the opportunity to do so for some of my old favorites. Sometimes this means that some game updates will motivate me to start over, capturing game play from the start with the improvements; and it may mean applying some focus and completing a series on a game, then (metaphorically) locking it away in the attic for a few years.

Moving East: Turbofuel, Part 2
The Turbofuel Factory build continues with production of Fuel using Diluted Fuel, and production of Turbofuel using Turbo Blend Fuel.
Water is available on the cliff above us, which is a nice contrast to pumping the oil up from below -- and Sulfur is also above, and a ways off, so we set up a pair of Drone ports to move it for us.

Moving East: Turbofuel, Part 1

I want to build my Phase 4 deliverables in an entirely new set of factories extending off to the Eastern part of the world. After quite a lot of contemplating the recipes and juggling numbers, I have come to the conclusion that ... ... planning everything out, then following the plan, is not going to be fun. So, I am only taking away from the planning that I want to be flying a ton of Drones fu...

Factorio 2.0 Space Age, Episode 3: Red and Green Science
Просмотров 65 часов назад
This recording picks up after I've done a bit of "gardening" filling in some blueprints, working out how I want to do Steel, and so on. The recording starts with refactoring the Mall a bit I add the two missing parts (assemblers and miners), then rework the power until it is not quite as ugly. Then it is time to fire up Steel production, and automate Red and Green Science. This is part of my Fa...
Exploring The East

Intermission, because planning a soup-to-nuts er, raw materials to final product base to deliver the four items needed for Phase 4 is not just a huge task, but one full of decisions, since I have unlocked or at least made available to be unlocked so many interesting recipes. Normally I would explore "off camera" but this was an important one, going out and getting a good view of the rest of the...
The Rest of the Tier 8 Unlocks
Просмотров 35 часов назад
After a bit of a review of the "gardening" I did between episodes, we get on with the business of the day: make some fancy parts and use them to unlock the remaining Tier 8 technologies. I have a Manufacturer supplied via Industrial Containers for making SUPERCOMPUTERS, which (for now!) are only needed for these unlocks. Some of them go immediately into unlocking Nuclear Power. Next, I build a ...
Factorio 2.0 Space Age, Episode 2: I need Belts and Inserters

The Factory must grow, but to grow the factory, I need a lot of Belts and Inserters. Time to automate some. This is part of my Factorio 2.0 Space Age playlist, ruclips.net/p/PL_PGm5rwAOfduFYnsSUMlfPL-YaU14bUo
Quartz Train, Advanced Aluminum, and Drones

In this episode I focus back on unlocking techs. Next up are Drones and Advanced Aluminum (which does not actually seem to unlock any new Aluminum related recipes?), both of which need Radio Control Units, and to make those, I need to get Quartz Crystals back to the base.
Factorio 2.0 Space Age, Episode 1: Begin a the Beginning
Просмотров 814 часов назад
I'm starting a new Factorio save, at the very beginning. No mods, no blueprints, and no external decision support code (which admittedly would not be needed for the first dozen hours anyway). I expect that many things have changed. I am looking carefully at buildings and recipes to note the actual current rates and ratios, and already, things are different. Unless there is an error in the toolt...

Tackling some Loose Ends

I need NEED to stop hammering on the Aluminum factory. The water is working, and I have more than enough materials for the "first slice" there is absolutely no reason to go scale up the inputs further. In this recording I trim the Aluminum factory back to one slice (it was only at three slices so Mergeless could work), then tie up some loose ends: Caterium Ingots were being delivered but I need...
Blender "Instant Scrap" Fluid Loop working! (and more train tracks)
Просмотров 73317 часов назад
Skipping over a number of hours of frustration, analysis, experimentation, and finally success I now have a working fluid merge mechanism that handles the Blender "Instant Scrap" recipe (with 5 units of water output for each 6 units input, requiring a 5:1 mix of recycled water with fresh). For the record, "Mergeless" was working just fine, but the ramp-up from dry was simply too long. In my con...
Fluid Merge and Bauxite Train

Using the "Mergeless" strategy for handling the water loop works but has a crazy long ramp up time. Before this recording I spent a number of hours (a two digit number of hours) experimenting with Head Lift Reset and Variable Input Priority approaches, both of which seem to not work when the recycled water is 5/6ths of the total. In fact, experiments *SEEMED* to show that if a junction has two ...

Aluminum Factory: Bigger for the wrong reason
Просмотров 7822 часа назад
Despite many hours of work, I was in the end unable to make the Head Lift Reset method for merging the water output from the blenders with the fresh water for their input. While the water coming from the unpowered pump indeed did not fill the Industrial Fluid Buffer above a very low level, that all changed when the recycled water arrived: over time, the water level in the buffer went up, and wh...

Steel Pipes and Beams and EIBs in the Northwest
I have a quick video on how to deal with recycling water using no pumps, buffers or valves and will never deadlock.
I'll check it out. I think I *finally* landed on a solution I like, but then, I really really liked VIP and HLR junctions until they failed me. [checked it out -- that's nice and compact and simple. As long as the junction takes all the recycled water arriving from below before the fresh arriving on level, it's golden. Next time I build a water loop, I'll give it a shot! Will it survive six hours in a production line partially starved for other inputs? We will see!]
This game is so great, thanks for doing this.
Having a great time! Of course, some times I need to spend a dozen hours deep in Python scripts and Org tables just to work out what to build ... but that's part of the fun for me ;)
santa???
Nice, clean build ... especially the rail lines. No two of my rail turn-arounds look the same. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I think I put off doing Rail a bit longer than I should, just so I could blueprint a nice simple railbed.
Very unfortunate that all the dialog was lost from this... I was looking forward to the walkthrough of the first launch :(
It is ... when my mic is on mute, there is an obvious glowing red ring on it. Nonetheless, sometimes I simply don't notice :(
nice checklist on the left there. in game when you open your inventory, on the right side of your screen you will see a kind of black faded edge. you can click anywhere on the right edge of your screen in the black and it will pull out a ui for an in game checklist to do the same thing but in game. it even tells you how to write the code for different fonts or colors.
Yep, I know about the in-game list, and make use of it ... frequently. It has the additional benefit that, as I make things, it satisfies the list, so the "todo" items reflect what you have left to do. Sometimes I wish that when I pick up something I built from the list, it would put it back, but that's a minor thing. The checklist you see "on the left" is actually a separate editor window showing, well, whatever document I load up. The checklists I often show in the recordings are the end product of a bunch of (very janky) Python code that I use to keep the math correct, and if I could somehow feed that data into the game automatically I would be a very happy code monkey indeed!
Looks great!
Thanks!
I am 48 and its good to say my generation still plays pc-games.. Lets face it, we already started playing video games far before the 2000 ! (I ll bet you played dune2000, wolfenstein3d, Larry suit Larry, simcity 2000 etc. ) Isn't this a super addictive game? I already spend more than 1000 hours in this..
If you ever start feeling like you are "old" in the computer gaming world, take heart that there are a lot of folks out there that are even older. I can see maybe "aging out" of playing certain games, but not games like this.
Interesting , Thank You. 1 nice thing about being Starborn to me is exploring other possibilities . Preperation is important
P.s. if you could have one mod, name it! I will make it for you.
I just hit 800 hrs in this game yet I enjoy watching your content as much as I play. bravo!!!!!
nice! this might make me finally try this game. Your gameplay makes this look pretty fun. Cheers!
Thanks! I'm having a ball with it.
Very awesome build!
Thanks! This is based originally on a build by TotalXclipse, except that I've skipped any structural parts that are not needed for the ship to work properly. I've been building something like this build every time through the game, tweaking it as needed based on what parts I can use. This one is the first time I've done it without needing to "inherit" parts from an existing ship, such as using the Star Eagle to get those engines.
I always go down to the Vectera first also, it's how you can tell if you have a normal universe, if nobody is there, you'll have a weird NG . I never thought about going back to Kreet, thanks for the tip.
Elsewhere, I have a save where I'm just pushing through NG+ as fast as I can. I know NG+1 is always normal. I'm up to NG+6 and no odd ones yet. I'll turn on recording from now on, and if I get an interesting NG+, I'll see if I can turn it into a decent recording (but on a different playlist, as it won't be part of this continuity ;)
I am this old school.lol
I enjoyed rolling through this project, but I think the next time I do a development series, I'll record and edit rather than stream. Still waiting for inspiration on the coding front, I seem to have been distracted (seriously) by some games.
Keep it up! I really enjoy these.
Very well done, Captain! also.. epic beard!
Informative vid.
On a mission to watch your whole playlist!
New here, enjoyed your content.
Thanks! Having fun recording these ;)
Since the patch Vasco has a fried circuit board, he keeps ealking away from my ship if i travel to other places in the planet. But he hasnt been blocking doors though anymore. I also have not random ships landing on planets which truly stinks.
I have heard others reporting the “no ships landing” thing. I have not really noticed either way, as I am thinking about other things as I land … will have to pay attention as I progress.
@@farsyte I'm hoping they fix it quick, and it's not a you have to go to NG to fix it fix. The game is running great though.
Nice ship!
Thanks!
you are great, this project is great as well:)
Thanks! Having a ball with it ;)
Your videos are a constant source of inspiration for me. Please keep them coming!
Thanks, will do!
But is the weakness really a weakness? Or and opportunity?
[narrator] he was too weak ...
I'm pausing Inari for a while, so I can do a playthrough without depending on knowing things I can not have found out in-game yet -- such as what abilities we actually gain at higher levels. I plan to return to Inari later, once I can justify knowing first-hand how and why Warlock and Sorcerer fit together.
Don't sleep on Karlac throwing things with her enranged throw. For example if she picks up Goblin-1 with 9hp and throws it at goblin-2 with 12hp, often they both die.
Oh, did not even see that! Will try it!
Healing word is S-Tier. I'll have to give Aid a try, thanks for the tip.
I was wrong about Healing Word. Oh, so very wrong. Now, a month later, Healing Word is one of my favorites ... how did I miss that it was a (1) ranged (2) bonus action? ;) ;)
Great video. Glad there was a video on the problems I was having.
Good video, I recommend that you make a summary after the live show, because otherwise people don't watch the live show, and put an attractive thumbnail on it.
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome walkthrough! A small note: If you use the squared magnitude (vec.sqr_magnitude) it'll prevent a lot of sqrt() calls in the engine to give you the magnitude. Not a huge deal but sqrt is slow so Unity doesn't do them unless it has to (like when you ask for a magnitude). Basically it is cheaper to compare sqr_magnitude to your (value * value) than it is to compare to magnitude.
while i'm generally not doing any optmizations yet, using the squared magnitude where possible is a good habit to establish. Good catch, thanks!
The announcement on the Steam page that the patch is live has a much shorter "highlights" list, and explicitly mentions that they are working on the Asparagus staging issues for Patch Two "in the next few weeks" -- so huzzah! I don't see any mention of adding support for Joystick (so my HOTAS is going to feel lonely for a while). Not a huge issue, as I'm already hearing people talk about doing something like k-OS for KSP-2.
This is exactly the problem im having right now
The launch day notes do mention fuel flow calculations, so I have hope that this might be addressed in the upcoming patch; I will revisit after the next update. As anxious as I am to dive into KSP-2, I'm more than willing to wait until they have tested the patch thoroughly. I spent my whole career actually producing code, and being rushed was the number one root cause for more problems than seemed reasonable to anyone (including me). I really need the fuel ducts to work correctly -- and I need joystick control to fly -- but I'm also still having massive amounts of fun in KSP-1 so it's not like I'm starving for something to play!
i like this guy
Postscript: I forgot the antenna. Always check your contracts when you launch, I would have seen it had not checked off the first clause yet.

What is the mod you are using?
The main mod I'm' working with is "kOS" but I mahy also have been running Mechjeb, SCANsat, and Environmental Visual Enhancements Redux.
