    Hey, great content. I want to ask for some help. I recently changed my tank around for a baby snapper 2 -3 months old. Switched basking spot to real driftwood, raised the water level to about 4-5” and added more gravel. Soon after he spent a day basking in the same spot and I thought he was dying. Turtle won't eat the pellets he used to and seems a little shy and sluggish. I basically switched everything back… fake log, lowered water back to 2-3” and small water change. Only eating frozen bloodworms or live crickets now, won’t eat the pellets he used to. Basking temp 90 mercury vapor bulb Water 78 Change in environment scare the turtle? Impaction from gravel? (He seems to know not to eat it) Thanks!

    • @Alligator.commonsnappers
      @Alligator.commonsnappers Месяц назад

      @@austinanderson3393 Thanks. For a very young turtle like that I would certainly make sure they can get their head out of the water by just standing on their hind legs and sticking their head up. Everything seems good with the set up except I’d recommend no pebbles and going to sand. When they are older they can easily pass pebbles but very young turtles can accidentally swallow pebbles and it could cause issues in their digestive system. They like to dig down in the sand and sand is easier than rocks. I always keep baby turtles in a bit warmer water say 80-82. Once past a year old I’ll drop to 78ish. Mine are all 2+ years old so I have the water at 76ish.
