I share some of my work between art and technology.
On the art side I share traditional Irish fiddle music of Sligo (Ireland) that comes with a strong hint of Connemara influences. I also work with new media artists all over the world bringing humanity into tech.
I come from a musical family (musicians and singers) and I grew up in heart of Irish fiddle music in Gurteen Co Sligo. I will share videos of tunes that I record at home in the hope that you can pick up new tunes, different variations with new styles and techniques

Irish traditional music slow air Johnnie Seoige

This is the air of an old Irish song about the struggles of a family during the Irish famine. I learned the air of this song from Micheal O Cuaig who sang the song down the phone to my farther who in turn played it for me on a tape recorder! It’s one of my favorite slow airs with haunting b flat notes. I think the air represents the sadness of the story and that time well.
Irish fiddle Doberman’s Wallet jig

This is a nice jig composed by Frankie Gavin. It’s called after the Doberman dogs at Mícheál ó heidhin’s house in Galway. I visited that house many times when I was very young and I remember he had many Doberman on the grounds! I picked up most of this tune from various sources and had to ring my father to get the variation at the end.

Nice 4 part jig called the Humors of Ballyloughrin. Can’t remember where I got this one but I used to play it with my brother on the flute (Seamus) and my father (PJ) on the accordion.

This is the Connemara version of the Morning Dew Reel. I learnt this from my father who is from Connemara and a button accordion player. It is distinct from the traditional Morning Dew reel that I grew up with in Sligo which has 3 parts.
