Those F110-GE-400 engines sound great...That D could rip and run...Would have loved to see it get upgraded to the F110-GE-132 engines...I bet it would have been able to take an F-16 2 circle...

Navy Seals lived on my base at NAS Oceana. As a matter of fact I knew about Seal Team 6 since 1986. They work at Dam Neck Annex next door to Little Creek where all the even number Seal Teams work and live. Dam Neck is owned and controlled by NAS Oceana. When you know, you know and this brown shoe knows.😊 When I got to NAS Oceana I had to go to NIS for my security clearances. Today they are known as NCIS, but it’s the same agency, with the added C. Stickers on our ID Cards back then for gate access to aircraft gates, and clearance for Classified info within our Avionics and mission documentation.

Back in the day NAS MIRAMAR had great airshows! F 14s ,JATO FAT ALBERT takeoff, etc. Much more jet aircraft action. Today not so much

Best start up video I've seen

I was on board the USS Saratoga CVA 60 in 1969 and we had f4j phantoms on board. To this day. They are my favorite plane. However, the f-14 tomcat to me is simply irreplaceable and is to me, one of the greatest planes of all time. Absolutely love it. Wish we had some more.

why not have a decent paint job on the 'Show' bird?

Raw power and should have chosen the F-14 super tomcat 21 over the wimpy FA-18 hornet super tomcat 21 would have been faster and more maneuverable and better upgrades in electronic versions.

I've seen lots of video and watched lots of flight demo's but this video is like watching an Olympic athlete in training. The Tomcat will forever stand out as one of the most impressive fighter (and later multi-role) aircraft in the world. I'm so proud to have been a part in VF-101 and VF-33 during it's years as the primary fleet defender.

If it wasn’t for Iran,we would still have some flying air shows. Darn it Iran!

The music is the engines, no need for regular music

It takes one or two people to launch an air force jet! The navy needs about 10! And you did not see the low tire or low nose strut! Close to a running engine intake.😮

Pratt and W engine caused several F14 to spin and some crews didn't make it. GE way better engine and safer with more power.

I was probably there. I remember watching Dale "Snort" Snodgrass (RIP) coming in from the right, doing his trademark loooow high speed pass in the Tomcat during that era. The Harrier jump jet Demo. Fat Albert JATO takeoff. AH-64 demo rising up out of the trees show center. The night show with the jumpers with glow sticks on their bodies descending on the field. A FF Eagle doing an early morning sneak pass through the cool September air.

Crazy part is that indian doesn't make a single plane,its all russia or American.

Man the airshows in the 90s at Miramar were 2nd to none!!!‼️ I do not remember the exact year (had to be between 91-95) but I remember two Tomcats taking off at the same time on opposite ends of each other, both on one of Miramars two run ways and going straight into the vertical ‼️ They both then spent the next 20mins Strafing & BombCatting the flight-line!!! This wasn’t even the F14 Demo either ‼️😭 Morning Tomcat Full Burner Takeoff and fly by for the national anthem, Bombcat Stratfing, Top Gun Demo where the tomcat chases an F16 or 18 and THEN THE F14D DEMO 🥶🖤💯🙌🏿 A full day / weekend of a huge gorgeous fighter ripping the Skies up over SD Miramar!!! What a time to be alive!! #AmazingChildHood

I love the Tomcat too. As well as Capt. Snort Snodgrass, but I think the F-14 and its variants were kinda underpowered. Especially the A model. It was just too big a fighter in my opinion with limited maneuverability. Forget Top Gun. Unless Snort was flying, an F-15 or F-16 could easily have taken it. The Navy has always done the best with what they have been given. Don't get me started on the Marines.

So are these equipped with the TF-30s or GE-110s?
